Since we're getting a new protagonist,NONE!!!!...I want to see some new companions.

Been mulling this over myself.

Well, I'd like Alistair to come back...but have him assassinated! Not because I dislike him (far from it) but because it would be interesting to the plot. I can imagine what sort of political upheaval which would take place with his death. Hell, the Antivan Crows could be implicated, thus giving a reason for Zevran to return (or to visit Antiva).

Morrigan would have to return, simply because of her secret from the ending of Origins. Players need to see how that thread of plot plays out...Flemeth as well, as I enjoy her bizzare-yet-sinister personality.

The Qunari have been creeping up in the plot since the last two games, so it's likely we'll see Sten and Tallis again. Personally, I would want to bring my three favorite dwarves back (Oghren, Varric, and Sigrun) as some sort of crack darkspawn killing unit...or at least Oghren's "nugget" (child, people, his CHILD).

As for the Dragon Age 2 crew, I feel Bethany was a good character. Fenris could give the player a reason to go to Tevinter, perhaps to liberate the slaves (like Shartan). Sebastian will definately make a return, because of his army in Starkhaven. Again, Varric must return (this is non-negotiable). ****, even Carver was likable by the end of Dragon Age 2 (provided you...uh...ahem...spoiler alert....saved him...during the Deep Roads quest).

And those are my returning favorites. Please note, some other favorites of mine were not included either because they were either not playable, or because of plot-related issues (still steamed about some of them)

I'd love Alistair, Anders, Morrigan and Varrick. to return as companions.
I'd like it if Isabella, Fenris and Merill were made temporary companions, like Tallis in Mark of the Assassin.

I don`t know about everyone else, but I quite liked Velanna and Sigrun from awakening. Also, definately Fenris, Aveline, Tallis and Merrill from DA2 and maybe Shale from DA:O. My favourite character from all 3 games is Wynne but I`m unsure if she would reappear( wondering if Dragon Age:Asunder is canon) but maybe she could appear as a vision or a fade spirit or something.

Morrigan for sure. I just really want to know more about what happened to her after Witch Hunt. I'd also love to see Alistair and Fenris, but who knows. Oh, and Cullen!

Would love to see Oghren, Morrigan, Anders, FENRISSSSSS, Shale, Alistair, Isabella and my dog. Do I think bringing these back story-wise would be the best? No, but I would certainly enjoy their presence again.

My list of who I want to have back in DA3:

My LadyHawke (I'm sorry, but I cannot get enough of Jo Wyatt's voice)
Leliana (I have a personal thing for her... hard to explain)
Isabela (Inseparable from my LadyHawke)
Varrick (just so full of awesome)
Alistair (it's time for him to seriously open a can 'o whoop-ass!)

I would have added Morrigan, but I like to think my Warden and her are doing just fine on their own after going through the portal and leave it at that.

New companions, but I'm hoping for an alive Anders / dead Justice cameo - there is still an interesting story to be told there. I'd also like to see Morrigan again, wrap her story up, but cameo only as well.

And the genlocks. If all of the female dwarves were apparently kidnapped by Darkspawn, there should at least be a surplus of genlocks.

Adding to this, female children and children that sound like children.

Okay, back on topic. I would like to see any and all of the DAO characters. For DA2, I suppose we'll see Anders sometime. I want Cassandra as a party member. Maybe Aveline.

I mainly picked him and the others because of setting or more story, not because I liked him sry

Morrigan for story with Flemeth
Sten for story and if it's set around Qunari agian
Fenris if it's set in or is about the Tevinter
Zevern if it's set in Antiva
another addition would be Leliana if it's set in Orlais.

They all are for setting/story line reasons.

My Combat and/or Personality reasons are Fenris, Verric, Morrigan, and Oghren.

If it was up to me the following DA 2 characters would be returning in the third installment: Athenril and/or Meeran, Charade Amell, Maraas, and Feynriel. I would have to believe that Flemeth is a lock, plus Bodahn & Sandal (and probably Morrigan).

I'm not one of those who crave the Warden or Hawke, as I like the idea of a new lead character each time.

Zevran- no practical reason, I just like him
Anders- More like I want to see Justice, really
Velanna- I think there's more to be done with her. More than they had time to do in Awakening
Sigrun- just because she's awesome
Isabela- same as Zevran
Morrigan- Same as Isa and Zev. But i'll be okay if she never shows up again...I see her whenever I open Origins so maybe that's enough.
Our Sten- I just would want to see his new redesign.
