The exact same thing happened to me. I ordered the CE in Sept. There was no release-date option, and the delivery day was listed as 11/5, even though I selected the most expensive shipping option. When I realized the regular edition has release-date shipping, I contacted amazon to complain. I went back and forth with their "customer service" people who completely didn't understand the issue. After sending about 4 emails expressing how unhappy I was to be paying $20 more plus shipping but getting the game 2 days later than the cheaper version, I canceled the CE order and ordered the regular edition, and picked release-date shipping. THEN I complained again to Amazon, AND sent an email to Bioware. FINALLY, I got a higher up at amazon who gave me a $10 promotional code...
I am still completely unhappy that I had to sacrifice my CE version and will NEVER EVER order a pre-release from amazon again. NEVER.
Unfortunately with Amazon shipping estimates you have to be willing to take it on faith and trust them that they'll get you things earlier then they say. The November 5th date was almost certainly generated by a overly conservative shipping estimation (Game release November 3rd, one day Shipping would be November 4th, add an extra day just in case.) The reality is that they started putting the game in boxes and shipping them early. My CE preorder wasn't supposed to ship according to the order page until November 9th, yet it actually shipped on the 1st. I've ordered in-stock stuff from them, been told it won't ship for a week, and yet its almost always shipped the next day.
But if you want to be absolutely sure you get the game on the release day, and you don't want to stress waiting for the shipping email and confirmation of that, Amazon might not be the best place to order from.
