Well my complain is not that it is too short. My complaint is that I have to restart repeatedly to play through the whole demo content. It was actually longer than I expected because I thought it would end as soon as you get to the surface. I just hate/don't understand the timer.Cloaking_Thane wrote...

So would you have stopped at the time in your first playthrough even without time limit or would have spent a bit more time if you didn't have to restart the game?Cloaking_Thane wrote...

And are you going to preorder/buy it at release?Cloaking_Thane wrote...
the answer is not very many, I like the Genre and dont mind the game per se, and I only played once.
Nope, but 1-2 more hours wouldn't have convinced me otherwise, the biggest drawback to me is the artstyle, just not my thing, but if I bought it for 20-30 bucks I could definitely play it.
I see where you are going with this, but it would just depend on how much time I had. I'm an RPG gamer and of course love to quest, loot, fiddle with my inventory etc. I read all the descriptions and went though every line of dialouge I could in my demo run to get a better understanding of the world and what they were trying to accomplish.
I'm more "hardcore" than most so I would have played a demo to the end of its allotted time, but if it didn't grab me in the first 2 hours, the next 2 would unlikely change my opinion, and therefore subsequent demo runs are unlikely but I may give it one more shot to try a different build.
Yours is the only complaint I've seen that the demo is too short to form an opinion of the game.

It was same for me. May be a bug that doesn't happen to everyone.HolyAvenger wrote...
Maybe. Just putting another data point out there.

Your complaint is that the demo is too short, then you go on to say it was longer than expected?
You've blown my mind.
Would you complain about having to restart the ME demo to see renegade or paragon options or Adept vs Vanguard gameplay? This is also content.
Taking it further do you complain that you have to restart mass effect period if you want a different class?
The complaint just makes absolutely no sense to me, even moreso because it is a demo.

Priestly just sent me a PM. He said he'll talk with the tech guys about this possible problem, so they can investigate. Probably it'll be solved soon. For now, for those who still didn't got the gun, Steam seems to solve the problem.
Priestly's been trying really hard to get through the issues the demo's been giving people.
Dude deserves a medal.

I never played the Mass Effect demo. I bought ME1 just before ME2 was released. So I played ME1 and finished just in time to play ME2. Yeah, almost missed it altogether. Unlike others my join date is also the date that I started to frequent Bioware boards in general and actually noticed that most of my favorite games are made by Bioware.Cloaking_Thane wrote...

Anywho, if the demo had stopped right at the point when you first reach the surface you would never have read a complaint about the demo being too short. What annoys me is the timer. Because it even changes the way you play. As in trying to race through as fast as possible. If I play RPGs I rather enjoy, look around, even at details, etc. But not with a friggen timer.

Actually. The timer serves a clever purpose that most people are going to ignore. It actually breaks up the bit of content they do provide to us to give you a chance to explore different areas on different runs through it. Do different quests. I was able to mostly do different quests on the different playthroughs I did of it. And a couple others I repeated some quests.
That timer also serves a purpose because they gave you a piece of a giant open world. I was able to run farther in this one demo than I have in any other world. Even demo's for open world games which usually resort to giving me just a couple little straight forward boring dungeons to crawl through that don't actually show me the world at all. They realistically didn't have to give as much as they did and the Timer helps facilitate a few things along those lines.
Not having the timer wouldn't have changed much. Many are going to race through no matter what. It's just like when many learned they could basically do the first intro dungeon and then let the timer count down that is what they automatically did.
