Well obviously you are helping to promote KoA on this forum a bit. Which is fine. It is a good game I think.LPPrince wrote...

@ LPPrince: why the heck are you so hyped? I´m quite grateful for you helping the people around here, but it IS a bit ridiculous, to be honest
Helping people should never be ridiculous. What's ridiculous is the people who choose to sit back and NOT help.
Not saying I haven't been guilty of that before,
but not today...

That and keep things around the forums happy. Too much negativity in this place. One person taking the high road is one less person taking the beaten down dark path.

Oh yeah....forgot to post my experience with the PSN version of the KoA demo on the PS3....horrendous. Textures weren't loading right at times when it seemed there was no ground under my feet yet I walked around just fine, other times some enemies when killed would cause texture break covering up half the screen oh and half way through the demo the sound broke completely going to silent mode except for combat sounds, NPCs were flapping their lips senselessly and the world was mostly dead silent.
Fortunately my items unlocked....not that I'll ever play KoA or ME3 on the PS3 after I've seen nothing but excellence on the 360 when playing the same content many hours before PSN even released its broken version of that content.
I played the KoA demo on 360 and had no issues unlocking my content. Had the demo crash on my 6th run through it, had the usual bugs that demos have, but otherwise, its been good.
Honestly the biggest issue seems to be the unlocking of The Chakram Launcher for PC players right now.
I was having non stop problems logging in to the EA servers at all using the Origin version. As soon as I downloaded it from Steam, there were no problems for me at least and I got my free lewts.
The one thing that I didn't think about the first time playing though was that I was going to need to be logged in under my BSN account. I was logging in with another EA account. The only "bugs" that I encountered on the PC was that sometimes the game would have a black screen with a rotating blue circle pattern that would take up to a minute. At other times, the same part of the game would take only a few seconds. Also there was a bit of "texture popping" when a new area would first load, but it was fine after that. I also encountered the headless gnome a bunch of times on the Steam version, but never on the Origin version. They should be the same code in every way too, so that's pretty random.
Thing is though (it's been said more than once), not only is this a demo made from a ~3 month old code, it also wasn't even done by the development team that's working on the main game. So while not much in the actual gameplay will change, the bugs and loading times should be quite a bit more optimized. It should also look much better on the PC in the final version--but that's just speculation. Skyrim didn't look noticeably better between the consoles and PC, and it was one of the first "modern" games to do this.

Noob. Now you're smitten. I've been following the game for the last year and a half.
2012 looks like it might be an even better year than 2011 to be a gamer.
Kindgoms of Amalur
Mass Effect 3
Xenoblade Chronicles (look it up)
Diablo 3
Resident Evil 6 (As long as it's not like 5...)
Dead Space 3 (possibly this year)
Guild Wars 2
Bunch of other games I knew about but can't name right now.

As for the game, I didn't much care for it. The combat is al right, it's fluid and engaging. But the story and the world didn't grip me, the quests are of MMO quality and the game's aesthetics just aren't my cup of tea. The game also suffers from typical console-port problems (poor camera, clumsy inventory, frustrating menu navigation etc.), but not nearly as bad as some other games.
I hope to see more of these cross-promotions in the future. I hadn't even heard of this game before reading this thread and generally don't play demo's. But promising me ME3 goodies gave me just the motivation I needed to try something new.

I think it's better than Skyrim simply because as massive and great as the world was it just seemed devoid of emotion and color....too much gray and white and the green was just not that bright and colorful and the charactrers too bland. As for DAO....it will be hard to match but the story will determine that and I'd have to playthrough the entire KoA story before deciding either way.

This game is made for consoles and playing with mouse / keyboard is a pain.
Anyway I will read some reviews first. I think it will be an 80-89 game on metacritics.
I might buy it on a steamdeal in a few months. But the demo didnt convince me to buy it right away.

KoA is the first game of a new IP from a not very large or popular studio.
It has the opportunity to be great, but it shouldn't be unfairly stacked up against heavy hitters like Bethesda's or Bioware's titles.
We can compare it to DA2 though, cause that game sucked hard.

naw lol, never. Even if they fix the graphics to match highend PC's, it wont ever be able to beat Skyrim or DAO.

So hook up a 360 controller to the PC...since it works. I have to wonder though how many RPGs people that gush over both DA:O and Skyrim have honestly played, because they are only some of the better RPGs of this console generation, but they certainly aren't even close to the top 10 of all time. The best things about DA:O were the characters and some of the dialogue. The gameplay was pretty bad, and Skyrim is...just another TES game with 1994 combat and totally imbalanced/unfinished skills and the worst magic system ever.

Graphics aren't that great and I wasn't even judging by the controls either.....I was judging KoA by its emotional charge and colorful art style that just makes the world so much more alive. Sure it can't compare to Skyrim in the graphics department but does that really matter? I don't place those as valuable as a good story and the feeling of the world itself.

Combat aside KoA still think will be rather epic, if nothing else just due to the sheer scale of everything. I mean the games big, and that demo didn't have half the quests you'll have in that starting town. If you hit up youtube, look the game up, and watch any video thats about 20-30 minutes long (just straight play through stuff) you can see a lot more stuff that just wasn't included.
They definitely stripped down content outside of the areas you get to explore not just cut you off from going to certain sections of the world. Add to that a more BioWare-style choice when it comes to each major faction (which there are 6 of) and it already kinda has more replayability to me then TES games. As much as I love Skyrim the thieves guild always plays out the same way. The only real variation there is how much you get payed based off how well you did on a job.
So I don't think its fare to say it wont be an EPIC game. It's huge, main stories about 40 hours if you ignore everything. It's freaking huge. There's going to be lots of stuff to do and you'll get to decide the fate of a lot of groups (6 groups + main quest, not counting cities and whatnot).
