1: Over 120 Dungeons.

If the rest of the broom closets, err I mean "dungeons" are about the same as what was shown in the demo, that number means absolutely nothing.  It will be a case of quantity over quality.  Of course in a demo they can't show you the truly impressive dungeons--if there really will be any at all--but don't let that hyped up number fool you.

2: Main Quest Line about 40 hours long by its self.

The developers said that the main quest was around 50 hours and that if you did all of the faction quests that it would take you up to 200 hours.  Yet IGN claimed that the main quest is only 20 hours and that if you do everything it takes a little over 50 hours (They've already finished it).  Remember when the DA2 figures were being tossed around and how ultra exaggerated the real numbers were?  Yeah.  The game will most likely take 40 - 55 hours to finish everything.   Not necessarily a downside, just a more realistic figure.

Remember when 'huge open world' became a relative term?

haven't seen IGN say it only takes 50 hours for the main quests and faction stuff. That will be kind of a disappointment if that's the case. And yeah if all the dungeons are as small as the demo then... wont be to much to do with that. I dunno I still think it'll be longer then 50 hours to do everything. That seems like a ridiculously small number in comparison. And I do remember the DA2 stuff and the actual numbers from BioWare where about spot on. Game took about 40-ish hours which is what they where saying. No one said it would take hundreds of hours or that it was a massive open world.

With how much I followed that game, the only real disappointing thing I ran into that I kinda felt jipped on compared to what was being said was the copy/paste stuff that was all over.

Most of the figures ranged between 40 - 80, with 60 being about the average.  Which seemed rather large considering the first game only took 30 - 35 hours.

So I just read the whole of 'review in progress' at IGN about Reckoning... and I still don't see where they stated they finished Reckoning game in 55 hours doing the faction quest to. The guy keeps stating how absurdly dense everything is with things to do and how after weeks now (as he hasn't finished it) he still feels like he hasn't scratched the surface.

Also hes playing a debug build, on his PS3 - and hasn't crashed once. Apparently the non-gutted version of the game (demo being the gutted version...) is apparently very stable.

So ehh... where did the reviewer say he beat it in 55 hours? Or was that DA2 or..I'm damn confused at this point.

-edit-
Also DAO was a rather big game. You could do the main quest, if you only focused on the main quest in yeah, 30-35 hours. But doing everything you can do in that game I racked 80 before i got to the expansion. And that was my play through I used to import over - the one I did when I had already beatin the game a few times and was able to zip through it. DAO was... big, not quite the 100-120 hours soe folks mentioned (they musta been moving at a snails pace).

As for DA2 I expected it to be about 40-50 if i did everything, as BioWare was saying about that... and that's about how long it took me to do everything.

Well I look at it this way... If the demo piece is really jsut a tiny piece of the game like is suggested... and in an hour you can't really finish all of just the basic starting quests from the first little town and surrounding area?

50 hours might be a low estimate of the time you'll spend on the first few play throughs...

If you want to glitch out the timer and have unlimited time to run around and do whatever (lol)

Spawns respawn every 3 days, so simply kill all of the white guards at the outpost while fate shifted for 1kxp and then sleep in the jail or whatever other bed you find for 3 days.

No idea if this works on the PC, but I'm going to try it.  If not, I'll just try it on the 360.:P

That's from over six weeks ago, so I don't know how he could have possibly finished, unless he was playing a "90% finished pre-polished" version.  He doesn't actually come right out and say that he beat the game, but he's implying it.

He played the final code according to Curt "Ngruk" Schilling on the Reckoning forum. Link:

I wouldn't take advantage of a glitch like that. I'm patient enough to wait for the game, rofl.

Yeah that... doesn't imply he beat it a month ago. More so when there still doing a review in the making thing where hes still playing it. There is also no way he could of been using a completely finished game months before it went gold. The one there using 'right now' for the review in the making is a debug version of the 'finished stuff' (or as close to finished as it gets before its finalized for printing). So... I dunno.

I feel like your reading far to much into an old preview and the 'hes using the final code' is based off the review in the making stuff there doing now.

-edit-
It looks less like an implied 'I already beat the game' and more of a misinformation slip up like they did in the 'review in the making'. They said at the beginning of that making thing you can pick 'from 4 classes at the start'.... 4 classes. It's races, not classes. The Destiny system is the races. This is part of the reason i stopped going to IGN they constantly get basic **** incorrect.

It's like trying to read through a magazine article and I sit there wondering wtf they wher ethinking with half the incorrect **** they throw up. Though noticably he restates stuff in the review in the making pointing out how initial impressions where short sited or whatever. And ultimately its just a slip of the fingers, he knows there races not classes, he just never corrected it.

Ahh yeah probably the best idea, not that any amount of reviews is changing my mind about me playing it. Now and days I usually just stick to giantbomb, and that's mostly in hopes they put out a quicklook... its like a comedy channel for me opposed to game reviewing.

What platform?

If PC, try downloading from the other source(Origin or Steam) and playing it to completion.

If Xbox 360 or PS3, it should've unlocked for you if your connection to the servers held up and your gamertag is linked to your EA account.

I don't care much for reviews, but I do pay attention to the ones from IGN, only to get a basic idea.

Curt is talking about the review in progress--which did not start six weeks ago.  I am talking about a preview from six weeks ago where the guy is hyping the game up and implying that he's already finished it.  Don't forget the "colorful" PCGamer review for DA2. :P

*edit: Oh god, this IGN review in progress is stimulating my gag reflex. It's so ultimately naive and superlative that it just screams "EA paid again".

It looks less like an implied 'I already beat the game' and more of a
misinformation slip up like they did in the 'review in the making'. They
said at the beginning of that making thing you can pick 'from 4 classes

Yeah, that made me laugh.  I mean, right away I thought "here they go again".  That's why I usually don't ever put any stock into their opinions about difficulty/polish or whatever since there's so many payoffs with that site.  I was just using the cited playtime as an example of how the game won't be anywhere nearly as long as the developers claimed (which is usually how it is).  I also have NO IDEA how in the hell it took you 80 hours to finish DA:O.  I did everything you could possibly do and it took me 38.  That was on the difficulty just below Nightmare though for my first.

Then again, I didn't use the garbage classes, but instead had an Arcane Warrior with two other Mages.  I didn't intentionally set out to cheese/ez-mode my way through the game either, because I had no idea at the start how it would turn out.  I just quickly realized how terrible an actual tank specced Warrior build was, as well as the tactics system being totally broken/non functional for anything but drinking potions so I simply used AE for everything except the bosses and just had Leliana as my utility class.

On that page is just pre-ordered the game and to download the demo there is no. It seems it is not available for our region.

No, they do not have it. There is only a preorder, then about to download the demo there's nothing there. Even in the categories of demo versions do not. Already I'm starting to annoy this<_<
