The demo didn't ask me to login to EA's server i.e. I didn't give them my login and password to Origin. Is that normal?

Maybe it knows from past EA games I played?

edit: Just to clarify, I'm on Xbox 360.

Hahahahahaha........rofl.....there's no Origin on the 360 and if it didn't ask you it's because it automatically logged you in with the same username and password you used for Mass Effect 2....your gamertag is tied to that EA account permanently and you'll be automatically logged in whenever you play an EA game or demo that requires log-in.

I guess I won't be getting the Charkram launcher for ME3. I tried on three separate occasions to finish the demo in its entirety, but it always freezes and forces me to reset my console, effectively nullifying any progress towards the countdown timer (I was at the 10 min mark on my last attempt <_<).

Don't touch the game once the countdown tarts...it can't freezeif you don't do anything, right?

In my 7 playthoughs of the demo, only once did it crash.

I feel for those who can't even get through one completely.

Meh, decent game, but nothing I haven't seen before.

Those high-fantasy RPGs get so samey after a while.

Yeah, KoA doesn't seem to innovate anything. Just use tried and true methods.

Maybe if the poor bastards stopped using the Tolkein/WarCraft model...

No elves, no dragons, no stand-in for medieval England.

Got it, guys?

MOAR is fine.  Of the same is not.

Did okay with this, though.  May have actually coaxed me into trying Skyrim.

Sounds like you should try to delete the demo and download it again.

I ended up playing a character for a little over two hours before a random loading bug with the Inn happened.   Crafted my own Chakrams (nothing special at that level, just +crit with magic, +health), some mana regen +magic crit +armor gloves and found a 26 damage longsword that gave 25 health and mana--which of course I never used, but it does give stats just being equipped.  Also found a unique shield locked in a warded chest.

What was annoying about the lockup is that I was only one level away from being able to see if the tier 3 skills would unlock. :crying:

The non stop Skyrim comparisons are getting out of hand though.  Not only does it look nothing at all like it, the skill progression isn't similar at all other than the fact that you're not tied down to strict archetypes, but TES games did not invent this, nor were they the sole champions of it.  KoA is also nothing like Skyrim for the "open world" aspect, it's just non linear.  Even Fable, with it's invisible barriers felt more open world than what was in the demo (I'm not talking about the size of the area we could explore either).

Ken Rolston may have had an influence in the layout, but there's absolutely nothing in the demo that stands right out and shows his mark other than some random books that look like they were hit with a shrink ray.  That's actually a good thing too, because the TES games get extremely boring extremely fast and are always "Moar of the same".

I liked the openness of Fable III, if only the game felt more like the original.

BUT THATS WHAT KOA IS FOR!

Looks like I'm late to the discussion, but I played the demo a lot... in fact I've effectively stopped playing Skyrim for the past 4 days just to play the demo, I'm really digging the game, maybe because I've been following its development from the start but also getting hands-on with it makes me want it more.

I'm also in love with the art style, really beautiful and artistic... if they only had gone the extra step and used cell shading, that'd have been graphics/art p0rn like PoP08 XD

I'll definitely go Finesse/Sorcery when the game comes out with a female Dokkalfar character... I've tried different builds and using Faeblades/Daggers/Chakrams is awesome, all in all this is an amazing game, too bad the timer glitch doesn't work on PC though, I'd have loved to level up my character some more to test the abilities.

Isn't the retail version Origin free?

Perhaps, but for now, you can only get the demo officially via Steam, or Origin.
You can also get it from various torrent sites (dont think discussing a demo on torrents violates site rules), but then there is the matter of trusting the torrented version with your login so you can get the cross promotional gear for ME3 and Amalur.

Earlier today I had the idea of using Frost traps and Harpoon, I think if I do a Finesse/Sorcerer type build I'm gonna sacrifice a Finesse skill, and 5 points to max out Harpoon in might for the sake of yanking enemies into my traps. Then use Chakrams while there flying through the air...mmm yes, delicious.

I did that with Dragon Age 2 Demo since I couldn't download it from official website and had no problem when logging in.

Though then again, DA2 Demo wasn't on neither Origin nor Steam.

I had hoped KoA would be the fantasy backstab simulator I've always dreamed of. But alas.

I totally agree. Let's have a fantasy series that is set on magical floating islands.
The races that inhabit them include humanoid versions of earth bird's, bats and other flying creatures
A huge mystery would involve what's going on the surface world

Or, Urban Fantasy. Hell Boy: The RPG. I would totally play that
