R.A. Salvatore, Todd McFarlane, ES3+4 lead designers, I really don't know how this can flop. Day 1 purchase.

A lot of good things don't always add up to a great thing, but done right, it can be.

Like, apple pie.

You can have amazing apples, and you can have a wonderfully crispy crust, but only together can you have a perfect apple pie.

Apart, all it is is a pile of mush and a crumbly dry mess.

So yeah, lets hope KoA is apple pie.

Didn't know about Kingdoms of Amalur until this thread popped up. Did some research today and I must say I've definitely become interested in the title. It seems to be a more RPG heavy Fable (minus the ridiculous humor that series contains).

Will try the demo and wait for some reviews before purchase though.

So basically you're like me, except I've already put down 5 bucks on a preorder and you're waiting for reviews.

I hope we both come out winners here.

I'd never heard of KoA, but I gotta say I'm actually interested in this game. Looks like the marketing department has actually done something right for once.

If they read this thread their egos would be fed.

I worked out a way with my post office not to screw me over and I placed a preorder with amazon for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, I'm looking forward to this game big time....though nowhere near as much as I look forward to ME3.

No, ME3 is definitely number one on my list.

KoA comes after. Way after.

I didn't know anything about Kingdoms of Amalur until I saw this announcement, and I kinda wish I was still ignorant of it. R.A. Salvatore's name nearly killed it for me, then the game play trailer with the over-sized weapons were like a stake through my heart.

I'm enough of an ME fan that I'll play the demo for the goodies, but they will have to work hard to get me to buy the game.

To each their own.

RPGs are about amazing stories and choices NOT about how large the weapons they feature are. If they want to have my character swinging bouldozers I don't particularly mind.....besides that's what the omniblade daggers you obtain from the ME3 demo are for.....stylish and more normal sized weapons of pawning.

I agree with you about what makes a good rpg, but the oversized weapons are a pet peeve. I can handwave away magic, psychers and what-not as long as the system is internally consistant, but ludicrously large weapons make my physics glands hurt. I've gotten a number of raised eyebrows and smirks from friends about what gets a pass from me and what doesn't, but I'd like to enjoy my stories without swinging a Caterpillar of the Bear.
And perhaps you're right, the omni-blade daggers and the ES designers may save the game for me.

Has anyone been following Kingdom of Amular? Any thoughts on it? It looks like RIFT meets Aion but singeplayer. Claudia Black voiced one of their trailers.

Looks interesting and not just because I get free Mass Effect stuff either.

It seems like a mix of DA:O with DA2 and with a bit of Final Fantsy in there. Very intresting game.

EA has already wanted to release Crysis 2 demo for 6 bucks -.- luckly they didn't

Really? Someone came up with the idea to sell something that supposed to sell the actual product?
That's... very Inception.

Looks more like Darksiders or God of War fighting mechanics actually. Not speaking for everyone in general, but I feel like comparing it to FF is more of an insult to KoA:R.

I agree, that feels way off.

KoA looks interesting enough for me to demo at least. Props to the marketing crew for getting this one right.

Watching through the internet, it looks like this game isn't getting the right amount of attention it needs.

I hope KoA sells well, 'cause the game looks really awesome.

Well, if its good, people will talk about it, and word of mouth counts.

For example, looking at movies- Austin Powers didn't do very well in theaters. But once it hit VHS, people were like, "Dude, this is hilarious. Watch it."

Fast forward, and its a cult classic.

So if KoA is a good game, hopefully people will spread the word.

I'm a little hesitant about the game myself. I'll be trying out the demo and see how it's like.

At the moment the slightly cartoonish graphics are a bit of a turn off and the fighting from the clips reminds me a little bit too much of Dynasty Warriors.

I don't really call the art style cartoony so much as a little stylized.

Exactly this. Todd McFarlane (known for Spawn) isn't the type that make cartoony designs anyway. If this is considered cartoony, then World of Warcraft as well as Darksiders are cartoony.

Beware, people do actually say that WoW is cartoony.
