I want to play Mass Effect 3 and Reckoning on PC. As a PC user, do I need to use Origin in order to be eligible for the Reckoning & Mass Effect 3 Crossover items?
You must create and log in to your Origin account in order to receive the Reckoning & Mass Effect 3 items, but you do not need to have the Origin client/installer. Also, you do not need to play the demo through Origin, but you will still need to create and log in to your Origin account to activate the Reckoning & Mass Effect 3 Crossover item entitlements.

Signing in to your Origin account simply registers that you’ve unlocked the Reckoning & Mass Effect 3 Crossover items, then when you get your full copy of Reckoning and Mass Effect 3, log in again and the items will appear in-game.

While all that MAY be true there is a far larger question at hand....will you be able to play either of these two amazing games on the PC without installing Origin? I somehow get the horrific feeling the answer is no and I absolutely hope to be 1,000,000,000,000% wrong but if I am right then it would appear there is no escape from spyware on the PC leaving players with only three options: play on a console, surrender to EA's spyware or never experiencing two amazing games.

Sweet, I have both games pre-order at gamestop.

If you pre-order Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning you can get the nine fate weapons at bestbuy, wal-mart, origin, gamestop and amazon.com. I reckomand gamestop and amazon.com for more items. Gamestop gives you 3 armors and two other items for pre-ordering and amazon.com gives you some thing for helping you find treasure.

Here are the prices for Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning.

The Standerd Edition in stores is $59.99.

There is a Special Edition for $80.00.

There is a Collector Edition for $200.00.

There is a Signature Edition For $275.00.

That you can find these 3 Editions at http://limitededitions.reckoning.com/ .

And here is the Xbox360 gamestop web address:

None of those editions add any more in-game content to Kingdoms of Alamur so the reg edition will serve just fine.

Sounds good, I was mildly interested in KoA to begin with. Will probably pick it up at some point for sure.

It's funny to me since, of what we can see of the armor, the helmet is actually what I like the most about it. :D

Yeah I really like that helmet too; but I like to see my characters face during dialogue.

I know that the game has a helmet toggle between.
  • Helmet always visible.
  • Helmet hidden during dialogue.
  • Helmet always hidden.
But; I don't know if the helmet toggle will work with every armor.

Of course what would be ideal is if the whole thing was made up of different armor pieces so that you could use the cool helmet without having to comit to the spikes or vice versa.

All I need to is to play a Demo?

I'm in!

As I see here, it's even simplier - to get armor you need just install demo. To get weapon, it will be required to finish demo, though.

So instead of Dragon Age/Mass Effect cross promotion we get Reckoning? I may just check this demo out!

Shepard with spikes... I am so in.

Was planning on playing the demo anyway, not to mention picking up the game, mostly because R.A. Salvatore wrote the lore. I'm interested to see how that translates into gaming.

Well hey now, if all you gotta do to get this stuff is to play the demos, then who can really complain? Free stuff is free stuff.

Quick question I'm wondering about: if I play the KoA demo on my PSN account that's tied to my EA account, will it unlock the weapon and gun on my, also tied, 360 account or will I have to play the KoA demo on my 360 account in order to get the weapon and armor on it? (Since I play ME on my 360)

I only ask because I have limited space on my 360 hard drive but plenty on my PS3.

Aside from that, interesting armor. I wonder how well it'll mesh with my Vanguard. Kestrel armor set the bar pretty high IIRC.

Easy enough. More blood for the blood god.
