after some more rage, reinstalling the demo from scratch (at least my internet connection is good) and then seeing Isaac's link, got the damn thing to work.
meh.
its not bad. better then some other demo's I tried. but it has issues. I'm finding combat to be a bit.. original Witcher like, with its one button spam, except my camera direction keeps changing. I have also been spoiled by voiced protagonists.
the story so far is.. /shrug
it didn't grab me enough to want to buy it

Yup, the game was terrible. I'm a fan of First-Person Shooters but Battlefield 3 bored the hell out of me. Especially the multiplayer.LPPrince wrote...

Got the armour through the Steam version, if anyone was wondering about that. Haven't finished the demo, though! Seems like an overall decent game, but I find the menu's rather appalling; it just screams console port. I also think multiplayer would've been a nice addition, but I guess it's not there since it's "just" an intro for the mmo that comes out later.

Its definitely not a console port, what with the game world and such being made for an MMO.
Plus, its confirmed all three platform games were made simultaneously, none being ported.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Just wish there wasn't a timer so I can take my time to explore the area and such. Don't think you can advance the story and go to more areas anyway.

If the combat is like Witcher. I'm going to pass on this demo. I was already outraged that i had to instal origins just to try a freaking demo. If the game sucks anyways, I wont even bother.

I have both Origin & Steam, but way prefer Steam over Origin if I have a choice.

its faster, but its still one (or 2) button spam. its not as clunky as witcher, but it was still meh to me. at least I got it to work through steam.
