How unfortunate that this isn't your cuppa tea. It's a great game for people into this genre.

I really liked Reckoning and placed a pre-order down for it, kinda means that I've just been suckerd into buying another game though.. Still, got some pre-order bonuses for that now too. Posted Image

Preordering game while art style definitely isn't my cup of tea. Bought me on open world and estimated length :)

Memo: check my head on obsession with rogue/mage hybrids.

Also not crazy about the art style, but I'll likely buy it. Later this year. When the price comes down and I've paid off everything else I've pre-ordered.

Was surprised by how good it was, although the original design of the game being a MMORPG was noticeable and was not exactly a good thing. Camera was a bit wonky too, but the combat got more fluid over time.

The storyline so far is intriguing, but it seems bare-boned to me. You can tell they were taking pages from Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls, and World of Warcraft in this one.

For a debut title though, I like it. Art style is ok, the combat worked and was more fluid than I thought it would be, although the comparisons to God of War will be inevitable...and I am intrigued by the world to say the least. Hopefully its a good game, I will give it a shot.

It felt like Fable had been repackaged with some McFarlanesh style. I was so bored when I arrived at the first town that with no repercussions to role play I turned off the safety and set forth with a massacre. Surprisingly enough it wasn't difficult to empty the town even at the low level I sat at.

The art style isn't remotely close to 'McFarlane' style. I'd probably like the art direction better if it was, though I still do like it for what it is. Kinda prefer DA2 art-style more... sort of, least with character models, animation in DA2 in combat is horrible though. They could learn a lot from KoA in how to make stuff quick while still giving it weight. They basically put the pauses in all the wrong spots in DA2 heh.

Have to agree, Fantasy RPGs aren't my thing (aside from DA).  I'm playing it just for the ME3 armor and gun.

Stinks I have to replay the whole thing just for the gun (I quit with 41 minutes to go).  :(

It is a bit of abummer for folks who don't really like fantasy stuff. And when I play the demo that 45 minutes turns into nearly 3 hours apparently. First shot at the demo I started around 4am, finished at nearly 7am hehe. Love how the menu and conversations pauses that timer.

So if you wanna get through the demo quicker - don't go into inventory, don't talk to anyone, or at least skip by that stuff. Also make sure you get the 45 timer by running up to that fateweaver and kill the 2 waves of bad-dudes. Make sure you get the pop-up box for 45 minutes. There's a second one at 20 minutes to let you know your low.

Judging by the folks over at the Amalur tech support board, it looks like I am not the only one not being able to connect to the EA server (but there has been no response from any of the devs there)

So, I played the demo. Got two messages about Mass Effect 3 items (one at the start, one at the end) but there is only one item (Reckoner-Knight) showing up in my registered game content. Shouldn't there be two?

same here, played through the entire thing, waited 45 minutes and watched the movie at the end and received all of the messages telling me i got the items unlocked, including both ME3 items. But now only the armor is showing with my registered content and no gun... :(

anyone else with this problem?

Happened to me. Replaying demo with keeping eye on Origin to check if EA servers available helped, but I'm not sure what exactly helped.

Here's my character in KoA's demo(pic taken with an iPhone up close, so its not as clear as if screen capped)-

Posted Image

You stole my Dark Elf design, my female Dark Elf looked exactly the same well without the lip piecing but still overall the same to mine from last night.

Well, I keep recreating the same character for my demo playthroughs, and seeing as I played the demo when it first came out, perhaps you "borrowed" MY Dark Elf.

hahahaha

By "McFarlanesh" I am referring to the later creature and armor from the trailer. No one expected SpiderMan Torment or anything (which I still have :))! If you can't see Violator in this huge open mouthed heads then you didn't read much McFarlane. I have played DA2 through 3 times now and I see no conection here. The dilalogue tree is somewhat like DAO but that is where the similarities stop.  The voicing was bad! Terrible forced accents and no vocal styling to speak of that seemed fluid.

It was Fable cracked out! I am not trying to completely charcterize it as a bad game but if they were trying to sell the game to me with that preview then it failed. But here are my positives:

1) The character build seems interesting.
2) From a first go there also seemed to be a genuine want to make quests choices.
3) It was long enough to make up my mind ;)

I used to collect spawn comics and read then constantly. Got issues 1 to 60-ish. I've read plenty of em, as should be apparent, least when he was directly involved in it. Apparently hes gotten back into things past year or so which is nice to hear.

Anyways he didn't do concept art for the game, not sure if he did for the ME3 armor set but hes not a concept artist for Amalur. He oversees a lot of stuff and gives tips on how to make things stand out more, animation details, lots of stuff like that. So he's technically involved in all of it but the art style isn't directly his by any means.

Still yeah some of the blank-faced helmets and stuff, few of the asymmetrical armor designs with like a skull on one shoulder and spikes on another remind me a lot of that. But it's still not... I dunno. If it was actual McFarlane there would be a more emphasis on leg and arm pieces. Everything is a bit more proportionate in the game, right? No massive gauntlet or huge oversized boots.

First time I started-up the demo: got a black screen after the pre-rendered cutscene finished (read on another forum that I should turn-off post-processing, which fixed it)
Second time I started-up the demo: was unable to connect to the EA servers (tried again an hour later)
Third time I started-up the demo: no issues getting the Mass Effect 3 items. However, I was not very impressed by the demo. Characters looked bland, story was uninteresting, and the game was notably buggy. I know the demo is not final code, but this is the version of the game that the developers picked to convince me to buy the game. I'll keep an eye open for final reviews, but for now I'll have to say no.
