So I  finished LotSB before I recruited Samara and now I can't start her recruitment mission. Man, this sucks! This was supposed to be my final ME2 playthrough and now it's ruined. I guess I'll have to restart from the beginning again.

Why didn't Bioware patch this bug?

They didnt patch it because they were too busy bug testing logical breaks to thegame, and not illogical ones where you run off and help a friend, leaving the galatic threat on hold.

Either load an earlier save, or use gibbed save editor to remove Thane from your squad, load up thegame, get Samaras info from the terminal, then edit the save once more to add Thane back into your squad.

I thought it would let you talk to Officer Dara without even seeing Liara. Or at least without asking Liara specifically about the Justicar. Same with Seryna and Thane...

What is the game doing exactly?

You should be able to use Liara's terminal to get the information you need.

This is a known fix for the issue, that has been tested and proven to work.
