^ by the time you get the Widow they are about equal ( very low percentage of the total damage ). This is because the ammo effect damage is calculated off the base weapon damage and there are three sniper upgrades ( plus an armor upgrade and headshot upgrade ) before Horizon so it should not make much difference to Shepard. So I would go for squad to help out your team.

I have not run the numbers recently but its a small amount.

Here is the calc for the Mantis on Horizon ( if Miranda is in party, then she can add 0.15 to weapon damage also, not shown )

Damage Calc = ( base ) * ( shield factor ) * ( base + headshot visor + equip + upgrades + sniper headshot + commando )
Damage Calc = ( 263.1 ) * 1.00 * ( 1.00 + 0.10 + 0.10 + 0.30 + 0.50 + .15 ) = 565.665

Squad Dis Ammo = 263.1 * 0.40 = 105.24 ---> 18.6 percent more damage if hitting shields
Heavy Dis Ammo = 263.1 * 0.60 = 157.86 ---->27.9 percent more damage if hitting shields

The Heavy evolution can also make synthetics explode. And the exploding could be connected with base weapon damage, since it seemed to happen frequently when I used it on the Mattock and Viper, than on the GPR or an SMG.

But, it shouldn't be a problem at range, especially with the Widow, but if you use Heavy Disruptor tight in CQB, it can get goofy with the random exploding synthetics though.

So, depending on your build choice, and if don't what to use the Squad evolution on Shepard, you could also consider keeping it at level two or three, and/or have Zaeed give you the Squad evolution, if you want to use him in the field.

I personally prefer squad evolutions for my ammo powers, just because of my notions of team synergy. Also, for me, the main appeal of disruptor ammo is the cc/dampening effects it has on synthetics and most weapons, plus the small anti-shield bonus. I also figure that theoretically, if my team focus fires on a single target, or even if each member cc's a seperate target, the cummulative bonuses are greater than that from a single user of heavy ammo. This is just my loose opinion though.

I think it needs to be clarified that ammo power damage bonuses become increasingly diminished as the game progresses. This is because those bonuses are calculated by base weapon damage, and don't stack with weapon upgrade bonuses, which are far more significant, gamewise. This is why from a tactical standpoint, the ammo powers with the most secondary bonuses (ie: cc effects) are preferred for 'serious' builds.

Squad disruptor.  One of the two where I think there is no reason to take the heavy evolution whatsoever.  That is unless you want to try and blow yourself up.

Treason w/ Heavy Disruptor

I more or less agree with the comments about small difference in your damage output not outweighing the small difference in CC.  On a typical soldier run I will apply Disruptor on the squad weapons for practically every mission.

The other ammo that should basically always be squad is Cryo.  There isn't hardly any argument at all for the so called Improved Cryo Ammo as extra freeze duration is not particularly helpful compared to the possibility of freezing multiple enemies.

The only other ammos that I use routinely are AP and Incendiary.  For those the opposite is true.  AP ammo doesn't have any secondary effects so might as well maximize Shepard's damage with Tungsten.  Incendiary is a little different.  Inferno has an area effect that is missing from all other ammo types and it seems to perform much better than the squad evolution.

Warp Ammo I consider more situational.  For an Infiltrator trying to maximize damage for one shot against an enemy with a barrier then I would go with Heavy.  If you don't have any other ammos available for the team whatsoever, then perhaps go squad.  I am not particularly much of a fan of Warp Ammo though... I really only used it on an Adept which has the most synergy with it since there will be more enemies under biotic effects, which is where the "big" damage bonus with Warp Ammo comes into play.

I don't use Shredder at all, but it would be like AP.

Squad. The only time I used Heavy was during Arrival (where obviously for most of it you don't have a squad).

Widow Infiltrator is fracking brilliant regardless of what ammo you use, if you can headshot regularly. Even my Claymore Vanguard doesn't kill as quick or clean and dominate the battlefield as thoroughly.

Improved Cryo is lulz.

Shredder Ammo is for shooting enemies in the butt to make them look like they're farting.
