What kind of sinister tactic is this, forcing me to buy action figures that I don't want! I stand in vehement protest of this mandatory purchase to enhance and alter my gaming experience in a less than microscopic way! Rabble!

I don't really see this as being any different from the overpriced dlc codes that people sell on eBay. The people that *really* want them, they pay exorbitant prices for them. Those that either don't want the content, or can't justify the cost, have their game experience largely unaltered by not having an extra freaking piece of armor.

It's called perspective. Now, I remember why I rarely read these forums. ****ing christ.

This. I mean this is exactly how *I* feel. I don't want the action figures, I won't buy the action figures, I won't get this DLC. just like I don't want the game through origin, I won't buy it through Origin, I won't get the AT-12 Shotgun. End of story....for me at least.

Ok, so the question now that we've seen mutliple retailers confirming that there is some kind of in-game content code is...

Do the codes for each figure access different content or are do they all unlock the same content?

The same goes for the Normandy models from Dark Horse.  What is the benefit of registering the code that comes with it? Does that also provide in-game content?  I don't recall that being answered.

From the wording it seems like we are looking at 8 different pieces of DLC.

To the best of my knowledge the Normandy models don't give you extra DLC. You can just register them here if you want. I've registered mine and gotten no word of anything more.

There's different info at different retailers.  One mentions code, another doesn't.  One mentions stickers, another doesn't.  One focuses on the card being unique, another focused on the code.  The cards and codes can be unique but lead to the same content.

We need more info.

Your best bet is trying to ask some of the more chatty devs on twitter whether or not they know anything. Occasionally if you pm one on the boards you can get an answer of sorts.

hey guys so I sent the customer support team over there a email hopefully they can answer some of our questions here is what I said

Hello,

You are advertising two sets of Mass Effect figures for pre-order to be shipped in Q2 of 2012 I have a few questions regarding those sets.

Product IDs
Mass Effect Series 1 Set of 4; DCC11100
Mass Effect Series 2 Set of 4; DCC11280
1. If I pre-order Mass Effect Set 1 and Set 2 do I get the bonus codes with those affiliated characters? Instead of purchasing all 8 figures separately

2. Pre-ordering these figures, it is advertised that they will ship with a bonus DLC (downloadable content) code. Are these codes Unique to each Character, or do they just have one universal code?

3. Is this DLC exclusive to the figures? Will they also be purchasable through other means like Xbox Live or PlayStation Network?

Thank you for your time in answering these Questions

Dragan

It is a bit shameful that all we are told is "in-game content". It could be just alternate outfits for squad members and Shepard's causal wear.

Seriously. I think we should know what we are getting with the "in-game content" before a purchase is even made. Some will purchase them regardless for their collections. Other might only buy one for a certain piece of content. People want to know what they are getting.

It looks like no Australian site is selling them individually, which sucks since I'm only intrested in Sheploo Garrus and Legion :(

I wouldn't call it a mandatory purchase.  I too am looking to nab all the DLC for ME3 I can.  But we don't even know what we are getting with these figures beyond a vague description.    That's what bothers me the most.  If someone wants the figures then it probably doesn't matter much to them.  But for those just wanting the DLC, well...shouldn't we at least be told WHAT IT IS FIRST?  <_<

This kind of marketing is so stupid. -_-
It really hurts a lot of people in either their wallets or their game play experience.
I myself am a DLC hunter when it comes to games that I really enjoy. I bought every single DLC for Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect, and Mass Effect 2 so I plan on getting all DLC for Mass Effect 3 as well.

For the game Warhammer 40k Spacemarine, they had these pre-order DLC's that were scattered to where you pre-ordered from. 3 months later they FINALLY chose to sell all DLC that were pre-ordered related or you had to go out of your way to get. That being said I hope more game companies start adopting this method. Mass Effect 2 never released the Collector's Armor and Rifle and that was a major let down for me.

Hopefully Bioware realizes they can actually make MORE money if they sold those exclusive DLC with the figures at a later date. Lets face it... a lot of us are 16 and up, what kind of grown ass people are going to buy a bunch of figures?

Well, I'm 32 and bought the Tali figure a while back. Image IPB

But I don't want every figure and I'm not going to spend almost $200,00 just to get every piece of DLC. I do hope the items, including the pre-order DLC, will be made available for everyone at one point. Almost every other big release does this nowadays, so I don't get why it can't be the same for ME3.

I agree, people who bought those are just out of luck, what a way to thank your first time buyers, BioWare.

It would be so damn nice  if BioWare would allow those of us who bought the first set of Series 1 figures to also have access to the new DLC content for this new batch of S1 figures (via Proof of Purchase or whatever), cause the majority of us don't want to spend $17+ for each figure yet again.... <_<

Goes to check his closet... yep, still have the boxes for the Shepard and Tali figures, so I least I'm covered for those two figures. :P

"Content". Well, they certainly are vague as to what you're getting, aren't they?

Well, it says that it's exclusive and different for each character, so it could be in-game outfits.

Oh God, I hope not.

I'd rather they have it in the game, and stop playing games with us.

Would you rather it be exclusive guns and armor pieces?

I'm not going to fly into a frothy rage, but if this really is what it looks like... Really, BioWare??? It had better be available on Xbox LIVE later, that's all I'll say on that.

Last time the only things that seemed to go on later online was the sniper rifle and the stuff the PS3 users missed out on. With the PS3 launching at the same time as all other versions it seems less likely they'll be releasing this stuff later...

Ya'll can go on eBay and buy someone's code(s). Or wait for the figures to go on sale later on and buy them then for the codes and put your unwanted figure(s) on eBay. All I know is... I shall own TWO TALIS... TWO.... AH AH AH!
