That looks like the shape of things to come.
Will they be able to recreate all the features of BG2 in the Dragon Age engine? A lot of the features were not easy to implement in the Icewind Dale 2 engine. (Icewind Gate 2 was based upon the Icewind Dale 2 which was nerfed by comparison with BG2.)

Something that can't be fixed by modding, because it's hardcoded, is having more than four party members. I might be wrong though but I am pretty sure it can't be fixed.
Vancian magic (spell slots/memorization) is out also, I think that's for the best though.

You might be able to summon Boo or Aerie onto the fifth slot.

But they can't be controlled directly or equipped (I might be wrong on those though) and they take the summon slot, so you can't summon anything else.
I can live with four maximum characters, since the primary roles are warrior/healer/thief/mage. But I'll miss the extra dialogue and tactics.

*now a serious answer* You might be able to get around this limitation the ME2 way (the finale). Your group multitasks, and then they meet up again in a cut scene, before splitting up again.
Of course, that's not what we're going to see. :SadSmiley:

What serious answer?! Boo was summonable! (with a cheat)
The best way to implement it, is to make it possible to change members any time you wanted or in rests like in DAO.
It's not a perfect solution but you won't feel that much restricted.

Nameless One found a lot of hassle trying to implement certain BG2 side quests into Icewind Gate 2. The functions just did not exist, time and again. Tiris in Trademeet especially. Then you had no easy way to implement the Pocket Plane ability. outside of the Console. Crom Faeyr had to be restricted to wiping out Golems only, because BG2 coding was impossible in IWG2.
It should be interesting to see how flexible Dragon Age: Origins is compared to Icewind Dale 2.
