 I started a new game just now, after a few months of not playing, and discovered that anything requiring the X-box dashboard (eg, naming my character, naming Dog) does not appear to work. I get no error message; simply, nothing happens when I am given the option. The 'Name Character' option brings nothing up, and in the case of Dog, it simply skips to the next bit of dialogue.

This is a bit of a disappointment. I've searched around, and only found a post that no one replied to, and I'm really hoping there's a workaround or fix for this.

Completely wrong..... you can rename Dog when you get to Gamlen's house in Kirkwall. Interact with the dog to begin a dialogue scene. In it Gamlen will pick on the dog and Mom will say "it has a name!" at which point the option to name the dog will pop up.

As for the unable to name your character problem, you should just beable to click on the name at the Character Creation screen after the opening of the game. This is the only time when you can do so. Once you begin the game and exit the Character Creator then too bad. If that is where you are having your problem then I don't know what to do to help since I do not know what's causing your problem.

Yeah, I knew you can name dog, and you can change Hawke's first name at character creation.

I 'fixed;' it, I guess, by turning the xbox on and off several times, and making three characters, the last of which *finally* let me give my hawke a first name of my choosing.

That's strange the wiki says you can't, because it definitely *used* to work. And it seems that it still does, it's just touchy about it now.

That's totally weird. But at least you finally got it to work. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

You have to go to Gamlen's house and speak to Dog when the game first starts, then you should get the choice to name him. It's worked on every single playthrough I've had since I got the game in march.

Well. Except this time, but now it's working again and I named the dog Dug.

I haven't been able to name any of my Hawkes since the first DLC came out.
