Now these won't change the way I play the game, but it may change how others play. Recently, (a week agao) I started my second character for Mass effect, to take through the series I think its great to actually play the character instead of whipping one out with simple choices at the beginning.

What im really asking is that, by actually playing your characters from 1through 3, will you get more out of it other than that satisfaction of playing the great games? Basically, does by playing all 3 games with more characters port forward more side quest choices? Or is all the choices that Genesis/Previously on Mass Effect offer are the only ones that affect the game? (hope that makes sense)

I'd like to also add if with these features, it does not have any clear advantage, wouldnt this hurt Mass Effect as a series? I Assume that Ea/Bioware want as much sales as possible, and when new games come out, usualy their predecesor sell a bit too. I'm all for Ea/Bioware making as much money as possible with these games. The more money the get for a game series, the more they are willing to spend to make it.

Anyways, curious on your guys opinion on this. Ladies too.

Yes, you will get more out of it by playing them. The Genesis comic gives you extremely limited choices and it eliminates Feros entirely (which was one of my favorite missions from ME1).You also get to learn more about Cerberus as well as get into the mind of your squadmates a lot more.

Lets put it this way:
Not everyone is a hardcore gamer that have all the time in the world.
On average, the regular Joe plays MAYBE  2-3 new games a year (most which will consist of popular shooter like COD etc).
So EA/Bioware gets smart and decide to market ME3 as standalone title in which it't not necessary for the average Joe to spend 80 hrs+ max and around $40 dollars just to get a good ending in ME3.
So in a business sense, I think it makes decent sense even though I would still urge newcomers of the series to play all three rather than jump into the third game.

Also to answer your first question: I believe people who've played the previous two will be rewarded somehow in-game. :P

I have no idea how the "previously on.." will work in ME3. I'm guessing it will be very similar to the way it was done in ME2 where they asked of your characters origins and who you selected as council. As for Genesis I think you're better off just playing ME1 or using the save editor because it does not account for Feros or any of the side quests iirc.

To answer the question of what benefits the player if you play through ME1&2 first, you get the extra options of keeping current characters in the story to appear later on in 2&3. Examples that immediately come to my mind would be Kirahee, Shiala, Giana Parasini, Conrad Verner, Toomes, Balak, and I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting. Just too tired to think clearly. Anywho, for the more practical gamers among us if you play through ME1&2 first you will also get bonuses in the form of experience points boosts, extra resources, and extra creds. It will happen with ME3. Just wait and see. *tired. going to bed. night*
