Horizon (1)
Horizon (2) - Defense Towers

Felt a little undergunned on this mission, maybe normal... only had a single Assault Rifle upgrade perhaps that is part of it.  Another one and Assault Rifle Penetration would be nice to have.

Kept getting glitched in the Praetorian fight.  Moving and trying to switch weapons unlocked the camera from Shepard.  Could fix it by hitting Esc.  It was very annoying and I redid it so that the flow wasn't disrupted.  Don't think I had gotten this from switching weapons before.  I know I got it a lot on Adept from using so many powers.

Took Miranda and Garrus.  Usually I take Grunt, but wanted to try out Unstable Warp.  Works ok.  I don't like Miranda stealing Garrus's lines in the conversations though... that's part of why I don't take her usually :)

N7 Leap of Faith

Illium: The Justicar

Probably nobody cares but I will continue these for the time being. :)

The first is another N7 collection:

N7 Lost Operative
N7 Anomalous Weather Detected
N7 Archeological Dig Site
N7 Strontium Mule

Lost operative was done in between Kasumi's mission and Purgatory.  The rest were in that order after Horizon.  This was to obtain the upgrades of course.  Name comes from charging on Anomalous Weather Detected.  Music might get me ran off the forum.

Justicar was pretty smooth.  Felt unstoppable.  Maybe an AR and Pistol Vanguard is actually overpowered.  Maybe it's Kasumi... everyone said AR Vanguard would be underpowered though.  Second opinions?

DCC let me take the Revenant.  I can either use that or stick with the Viper.  I don't know what I will do.  I only did the platforms so far just to make a flashbang video.  If anyone had a suggestion on what weapon to use that would be nice.

I care enough to watch, but my home Internet connection was down for the past few days. I will catch up eventually.

Anyway, as I commented on one of your first vids, I typically dislike modded playthroughs since the mods generally add weapons and powers that make the character overpowered. In this case I am perfectly fine with it since you replaced your SMG and Shotgun with an Assault Rifle while sticking with the default power set.

I do have one question related to this mod: by modifying your weapon set as you did, will you get a choice of weapons on the Disabled Collector Ship, or will this mod prevent the weapon selection?

@Red I share the same concern about the modded playthroughs.  With the glibbed editor you can have any loadout you need/want ( any class can open the game with Claymore and Revenant and Widow ).  However if you play with that loadout you really can't judge how good the player is playing because you have no frame of reference.   It was cool to play Mordin's mission as a level 7 character with the Widow, but I did not enjoy it as much as a normal playthrough.

No problem.  I understand people have other things to do than watch vids all day :)

But since this is hacked I figured a lot of people don't want to see it, even though I think it is sort of interesting.

Regarding the Collector Ship... I was wondering the exact same thing.  In fact I was partly concerned it would crash the program.  However it was seemless.  I had the option of Revenant, Shotgun Training or Sniper Rifle Training.  I think that is because I have redefined the Vanguard class as just having an Assault Rifle and Pistol... and the DCC choice must be tied to the class and base weapons.  SMG Training just doesn't exist apparently.

I played through the ship with the Revenant.  I thought it was extremely fun... You don't instakill things, but Revenant (or Vindicator for that matter) works decently on Praetorians.

I could go back to Vindi if people think that would be more interesting.  Probably Revenant would be a little more unique since after DCC any Vanguard could use the Vindicator.

Which is not too bad... except if you are a Soldier. Having recently started a NG+ with a Soldier to test a couple of things out, you find out just how much you miss having an SMG. The Revenant is the closest thing the Soldier can get to an SMG, but it is a poor substitute in my opinion.

Disabled Collector Cruiser

Gift of Greatness

Rite of Passage

Old Blood

For Cruiser I left in the segment with Advanced Training so people could see it.  Nice little mission.  Had a blooper in the second fight after the platforms:
DCC Blooper
The stunt team messed up their cues.  In retrospect I should have just finished the mission from there, but I didn't.  I don't know if this is just a glitch from Charge or if you could always just do that.

GoG: I tried to make interesting with Grunt... it's ok.  The YMIR turned out to be a poor enemy.  Oh I also gave Jacob the Katana.  I hope he and Grunt would close on enemies with me, but they didn't really.

Rite: I had another interesting happening.  I froze a Klixen and then Charged it and it got launced into orbit somehow... and then the squad just started shooting the sky, and the next trigger didn't happen.  Had to restart.  You can't really see the Klixen launch, it just goes then disappears.

Old Blood: took Samara for more Pull + Charge fun.  The record for air might actually be Cryo on Krogan + explosive container :)  Not a perfect run, hit the wrong keys in some spots.  Another glitch: got floated near the stairs right after you meet the Krogan that talks too much.  Whats funny is only 2 Vorcha were left after that and I was able to shoot one and the squad got the other.  Passed the section even if I was stuck in the cieling.

Old Blood Blooper

This just shows Shep getting floated into the cieling... and all the enemies getting killed.

Illium: The Assassin

Ok so a real mission... I think the long rooms present something of a challenge because potential exists to make a careless charge into the middle and get a whole bunch of fire brought to bear on you.

I don't know how underpowered the Revenant is.  Certainly can't one shot baddies that I charge.  But it does work a lot better than a shotgun at range.  And it can spray a lot of lead... or tungsten or whatever mass accelerator weapons shoot.  Viper/Eviscerator/Tempest/Carnifex is very powerful though.

I took Kasumi so I could still be somewhat careless and not die.  Yey flashbang.  We all have our guilty pleasures I guess.  Garrus rounds out the squad.  There is no mission he can't do.  Part of the squad selection was because I was kind of tired of Pull, didn't want to take Grunt, and I don't like Zaeed's powers all that much... and the last time I used Miranda with Garrus.  Maybe I should have went to Haestrom first.

Have level 2 Slam and tried to use it.  I manage to get an elusive Slam Shatter... not for lack of trying though.   Still, Slam is fun to mix in and it will probably be the next power I max as I basically skip Shockwave and Pull.  This is subject to change though... I may end up going Improved Shockwave and taking Slam back down to level 1.  We'll see.  Or maybe even Pull Field, Improved Shockwave and no Slam... I don't know.  Really I have simple tastes and trying to mess with Charge, Pull and Shockwave all at once doesn't seem like a style I would appreciate.

The Prodigal

Eye for an Eye

Could have made these shorter... but I left some cinematics in.

Strategy mostly in the descriptions.  Flanking is good... although Eye for an Eye is so linear it doesn't really occur.

Character feels pretty powerful now.  The Revenant allows a bit of flexibility you don't quite get with the Claymore.  On the other hand a sniper rifle trained Vanguard might still be better.

Gift of Greatness managed to get thumbs down.  Guess that one wasn't very good.

Have Heavy Slam now.  Sometimes it behaves poorly with low ceilings.  But it works very well on the outside of the Broker's ship.

Tip: since your Shep is not using SMGs or Shotguns, there is no need to research Extra Rounds upgrades for either.

I noticed that myself. In the N7: MSV Strontium Mule mission, I once slammed a Fenris mech into the ceiling of that hallway where they charge you. They tend to glitch in the ceiling and it prevents enemy spawns so you cannot finish the mission. Extremely annoying.

There is also no need to visit and map every star system and yet I do it anyway :)

I played around with Rev added on top of my standard Claymore Vanguard, and while it was not very efficient (i.e. killing speed), it was still quite fun to play. Great vids, thanks for sharing!

By the way, I wonder if ME2 to ME3 import would let us keep weapons we are not supposed to have (i.e. all three DCS weapons on a Vanguard etc.). I'll probably try it anyway! :)

SE: Subject Zero

Price of Revenge

Derelict Reaper

First up is a Special Edition... hope nobody is too upset with it :)

Zaeed's mission is somewhat standard I imagine.  Just zoom around the last room a bunch.

For the reaper mission I took Miranda and Garrus so probably not what people think is optimum.  The only area power of use was Concussive Blast.  Although I had the option of Warp Bombs and Charge has a small area.  It was fine though.  This is actually the second run I did through it.  I managed to miss the shotgun upgrade the first time by charging the Scion, and then forgetting about it and continuing.  I "left the cameras rolling" for the second time. It was a bit shorter because of a bypassed husk spawn I suppose.  And just a little time shaved at each fight.  I might have done the core cleaner the first time though.  All in all they were relatively similar, just the second required a bit less editing to get to less than 15min.

I have added a whole bunch of random videos... I won't post them all but this is activating Legion if there is still another loyalty mission left:

Activating Legion

Maybe not interesting, but it shows that you can talk to him about upgrades rather than him going into his Heretic and virus speech.

N7 Magic

So I had a group of N7 missions recorded and sitting around.  That makes this Mission 19.5.

I almost didn't make this.  I didn't have an idea for the soundtrack beforehand, which was the case with basically all the other ones I did.  But I wanted to show a couple things.  Mostly just stuff that looks neat.  There wasn't a vast amount of exciting stuff in these missions.  I cut Hahne-Kedar completely.  It turned out boring... and I had to restart it after I was floated the first time.. and didn't restart the recording, so I only had half of it anyway.

The name comes from the song title.  Since I was low on inspiration it may not be the coolest name.  I spent a while this evening looking for a decent song.  This one is a bit different, but sort of catchy.

Oh one last thing.  Abandoned Mine shows why I didn't use rank 1 shockwave on Derelict Reaper... I am just way too underwhelmed with it.  I can shoot and slam more reliably than shockwave.

Treason

A House Divided

These finished uploading.  Used a bit of Hacking.  These missions weren't bad.  Used Garrus on both for Overload.  I like Overload then Hacking.  Even if I miss when I try to cast it a couple times.

This evening was a total bust. I was terrible. More than usual anyway. At any rate what put me over the edge was getting glitched 4 times in a row on the Biotic Shield Battle. Phantom enemies in the floor that couldn't be killed and so I was stuck.

This sums up how well it went for me last night:

Falling off Platform

I didn't even know this could happen.  I think the game wasn't sure what to do... the Critical Mission Failure overlay was still shown through the Save menus...  And the regular music was being played over the mission failure music.  I hit F9 to stop recording too early or you could have seen the menus.

Well, you might have to re-do the whole mission, or maybe not.  I had the game glitch on me in LotSB Baria frontiers when I first did the revenant-vanguard.  After the first 4 guys were gone there were no other enemies for the rest of the level - I had never seen that before and maybe it had something to do with the modded game?  In my case I just reloaded and it went as normal.    But if you got it 4 times in a row - wow.  Why not pull out the mattock to see if you can get past this point?

I don't have the Mattock.  The glitch I was talking about before was in the Long Walk.  It was from slamming collectors near cover in a certain spot near the rear in the section before the scion.  They would bounce into the floor/cover where they couldn't be killed.  Actually the last time Harbi even assumed control of one, but that helped because he stuck out slightly and I could shoot him with every other bullet.

The platform thing I figured would be neater to see than the other glitch.  That only happened the one time.  I just posted it because I thought it was funny and summed up how nothing was going right :)

This happened to me on DCS platforms, and (oddly) on Mordin's RM.

Say what you will but I miss being able to drive off cliffs or into oceans in ME1.

Sounds like you were using Slam with Squad Cryo. I have seen weird things where you Slam an enemy and either freeze him Cryo Blast or Cryo Ammo and they just stay immobilized on the floor. Typically it is not a problem, but considering you die very quickly if you leave the bubble,... yeah that is problem.

I was in fact using squad cryo.  And you are right, they were too far away for me to get to without dying.  I started slamming them only if I knew if I could shoot them if they stayed on the ground.  Although 2 of the glitched ones were actually inside the cover... including the one Harbi possesed.  It allowed me to kill Harbi but it took a long time and was irritating.  I am uploading the decent run I got late last night... after my complaining.

Suicide Mission: Infiltration
Suicide Mission: The Long Walk
Suicide Mission: The End

OK complaints documented above.  Let's talk strategy.

AR Vanguard has decent DPS, but not amazing long range or short range weapons.  Revenant is very good mind you, but not a one-shot death ray.  At any rate, still quite a powerful character I think, even if compromised a bit in some areas.

Infiltration
This section plays pretty linearly.  I don't go zooming all over the place, for the most part.  Charging to the rear in certain areas means another wave of Collectors shows up.  You could potentially just hit the valves and escape I suppose, but I didn't want to play it like that.  So I go into their ranks.  Oh and knocking Collectors off ledges should be fun.

I used Miranda and Legion.  This was the first time I actually paid attention to his shield numbers: 734 and then 997 when Improved Geth Shield Boost is active.  Ha.  Why can't I get 1000 shields?  The plan was to mix in Warp bombs as needed as well as sic the drone on Harbi.  In the PITA room after Valve 4, Miri and Legion actually manage to keep Harbi locked down for a good while.

This particular section can be fun to play, and it for the most part was.  I don't know what else to say other than I flip Harbi off before I hit the last valve.  Watch the video, that is what Shepard does before he hits it.

Biotic Shield Battle
They take away the Vanguards marquee power here.  They didn't count on Slam (or Rambo).  Despite the above, it is useful.  I found a neat trick using it on the airborne Collectors.  Watch closely the first time I do...

Miri and Legion are still in the squad.  I like the Widow for this ranged segment.  Better squaddies?  Perhaps.  Drone is again, even if Flashbang would have neutralized Cmdr Harbi.

Arc Projector strikes again for the husk and Scion engagement.  If you get right where Samara wants to take cover you are more or less immune to the Scion's attack.  If you are off, then you aren't...

Platforms
Charge is back.  Can knock people off the platforms.  Warp bombs can clear some platforms.  I took Miranda and Samara.  Samara had Pull Field and level 3 Reave.  It may have been better to go Area Reave as I don't really get the chance to pull more than one at a time, and I used Reave more anyway.

This leads into the trouble... it seems the enemies are basically immune to ragdolling powers before a certain spot when their platform docks.  Also with squad cryo I run into freezing immunity.  Then there are charge issues.  It wasn't too bad though.

I think positioning is pretty similar to how I do most of my runs through here.  Works for me.

Reaper
So this wasn't the best ever through here.  It felt a bit sloppy at times.  Some funny stuff though.  Also I put Miri on the right for cinematic effect...

I missed my opportunity to use squad powers on the tubes like Caesar demonstrated.  That was cool.  I ended up only getting two the first time myself.
