Hi folks,
I recently got a new system and wanted to play Mass Effect for the second time. The game appears to install fine and I click on CONFIGURE to set the game up & patch it up to the latest version. But when I click it cannot let me configure as Windows 7 says the program has stopped working. As a result I can't go any further.
My OS is up to date and I've had no problems installing other games. I'd give a Directx Diag listing but so far I've not actually found where I can get it hehe.. I'm kinda new to Windows 7.
I thought I'd have to either re-register my game with EA/Bioware like I did when I first played it, but I'm having trouble doing that, can't find Mass Effect 1 on the website, only lets me choose ME 2.
Does ME1 have issues with Windows 7 Home Edition? Like I said I'm new to Windows 7 so I think it could be Windows 7 which is causing the problem.
I'd be grateful for any help. Thx.
Karl

I have had zero problems with ME1 on Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition, as Bog suggested, install the patch before playing the game.

No issues.
You have 2 options.
Install the new patch 1.02. In some cases this doesn't even help though and it's a rather bugger to find the patch,
or you can just bypass the configure all together and just load the game up through the MassEffect.exe in the Binaries.
Go to My Computer
C:/ ProgramFiles / MassEffect / Binaries
Then open the MassEffect.exe.
