How about the PS3 version?

I get that vibe too. Feels like I'm playing a bigger Fable, built like what Lionhead initially wanted Fable to be.
Amazing atmosphere.

PS3 updates late into the day. Expect the demo to drop on PSN in the afternoon or evening.

Thank you for the info. Truth be told, I've never even hooked my ps3 up to the internet until today. I'm like a dinosaur, I know.

Don't worry about it, you're not alone. Many are like this out there(not myself, mind you).

Just one more piece of software to run, for games not bothered about it being origin or whatever just the fact that its moar software for the sake of moar software. Anyway nearly done so I shall see.

The DA franchise needs moments like that.

I like Amalurs stuff in Amalur, its very fae like and since from what I saw that seems to be the game world in general good on them. Most of the characters look like ass though. It's pretty close to an updated version of Jade Empire visuals wise which as I say is great for those kind of worlds. Kinda nice to have what nearly amounts to too much colour.
Anyway in terms of having that look for DA, I would have to respectfully disagree, the problems I mentioned before with world and atmosphere or, visuals and writing as I guess they are really, not matching up would be even worse if they went this direction, wouldn't mind splashes of colour though.
As for the game itself.. It's not great on PC it controls really badly, I can agree with the fable comparisons, but its a shame that I've play the witcher which whilst different in most ways has the same core combat style and it's so unbelievably better and sharper and more precise that this just feels sluggish and stuff. I'll probably pick it up much further down the line when its sehr cheap.

Lets go back to Dragon Age Origins. Walking with Duncan to Ostagar after the Origin Story.
When the conversation ended, we were free to backpedal a bit or go straight into Ostagar. On both sides were mountains and forests, really beautiful.
It was breathtaking.
Breathtaking moments like that? They don't need bright colors-Ostagar proved that. But bright colors in the right circumstances can do wonders.
For example, in KoA, walking out of the first cave as the doors crumble behind you. You just walked out of darkness and into a lush forested area filled with bright blues and greens.
It was breathtaking.

Yeah, I never said I wanted the DA franchise to take on KoA's art style. Just take some vibrancy from it. You know, ideas of how to make areas POP when you see them.

Aye DA2 lacked any real attention grabbing points of interest (hero props as I said before) aswell as lacking a sense of scale (big things are impressive! <Sid James Laugh>) like as you say mountains at ostagar, sense of wonder at being in the midst of this humongous thing aesthetically pleasing and just plain awesome. As for that bottom point that's something that I think Bethesda usually do better, though it's less to do with colour and more to do with scale again, they always (ever since fallout or did oblivion have it too.. hmm I can't remember) go for that panoramic view after leaving the initial tutorial and they're some of the most memorable bits of the game.
It's a matter of contrast in the case with KoA the opening bit was kinda poor to me, because it was so drab, (but atleast the pile of corpses looked like a pile of corpses and it looked fairly grim down there albeit the artstyle stopped it from being horrific etc.) but when you get used to that and then suddenly after leaving the well you get blasted with the colour it has a much larger affect on the viewer (woo go me with my knowledge from writing a thesis on this topic). Which worked with you I was too busy fighting the game to really take it in (it controls really badly on keyboard and mouse).

I'm sad to say that I won't be buying KoA (I want to like it) but it just didn't grab me. I enjoyed DA2 despite it's many faults and the DA2 demo engaged me much more than this one did.

Disagree about the Fable comparisons; apart from the use of British accents and the Fable-ish combat, the style is very different. It's way more like WoW, but less exaggerated; the starting forest has a pretty strong Teldrassil vibe, and humans look very much like somewhat more realistic versions of WoW humans.
The way the land is set up also feels...very MMO-ish, and MMO-ish in a WoW way.
It also has a very strong '80s and '90s D&D settings feel to it. I could well imagine a Forgotten Realms CRPG looking like this. Not surprising considering Salvatore's involvement. The style mostly fits the setting in my opinion, but I also agree that the character models don't look all that good.
All in all, this might turn out to be a pretty decent action RPG. Hope the game turns out that way, and is successful. Variety is good, and there is nothing quite like this on PC and console.
I also agree with Pzykozis that the graphical style would be wholly unsuitable to the two existing DA games. For what kind of game and setting that it is, however, BigHugeGames have comparatively done a much, much better job than Bioware in DA2.
Apropos the controls, it's a game that clearly works best with a gamepad. Very Fable-ish there.

not enough gigglesquees I take it? or was the writing too methodically tasteful/acceptable between gigglesquee intervals?

I thought the writing was hilariously bad, but I assumed thats what they were going for, on the other hand I really do need to get a gamepad for teh pc, I figured it would require one like a lot of games of this sort do, but meh.
And I agree that in terms of visuals and the tone of the setting matching up KoA is far better than DA has been so far.
