It'd also be cool if there were some non-video game ME universe based games, like a pen and paper RPG or something like Settlers of Catan. 'Settlers of the Terminus'!

They gave us such a small glimpse of the world in that game...

I'd like to see a noir game set in the ME universe. You could be a PI on Ilium or one of the seedier Wards on the Citadel.

I've been saying it for years: VOLUS DETECTIVE GAME!
Iimagine it to be like Blade Runner or Nar Shadda...except with Volus(es?) It'd be set in the Shin Akiba Ward of the Citadel, for all of its Asari-Hanar porn (to catar to that fanbase) with our Volus, lets call him Detective. Rolly, on the chase of a sinister killer stalking the wards. (SPOILER: The killer is a KEEPER!)
It could have all the Noir trappings: grit, grime, trendy trenchcoats, an elcor sidekick, steamy romantic relationships with Avina and a deep moral question at the end.
Bioware: You KNOW what you need to do.

Actually, Obsidian doesn't suck. They just always have a much smaller budget to work with than everyone else they are making sequels for. If you have ever played Torment, you would know that they definitely do not suck; they just sometimes release incomplete games. KOTOR2 was actually better than the original in most of the ways that counted. Too bad it didn't end correctly.

I'm with you. Why would I want to play a game as an ashmatic and have to stare at everyone's crotch the whole time? I would, however, be willing to play a rail shooter where all the targets are Volus...

RPG spin-off by Obsidian
That's what Obsidian does best, spin offs.
Alpha Protocol?
Alpha Protocol great story and choices, but cmon you have to admit the gameplay sucked. Obisidian does a great job of taking other franchises and putting there good story and characters in it, but using the same style of gameplay.
I actually like Alpha Protocol's gameplay.

A spin-off (not a sequel or prequel) taking place before ME1, with a DA:O style make your own character including picking the race.
RPG or RTS :The ME universe could skip forward a hundred hundred years or so while advanced species are almost recovered from the Reaper attack and lead up to galactic war, you'd have to be pretty stupid if you think there'll never be war after the Reapers are killed.

hahahaha Volus aren't built for war either, limit the choices to species that count.

It was pretty crummy. What needs to happen is that EA merges Obsidian with Bioware, but still allows Obsidian to make the games that they have always wanted to make...only with less time constraints, a bigger budget and the ability to leech off of Bioware for technical gameplay support.
As good as the Mass Effect games are, Obsidian would have been able to do a much better job with the character developments.
I don't get the Skyrim vs F:NV comparisons though. They were nothing alike at all. F:NV was actually interesting.

I won't spoil anything, but the stuff going on with the Protheans in the previous cycle could support at least one game imo. It could also have a rather bittersweet ending, with your character perhaps setting things like the Eden Prime Beacon or Vigil for Shepard to eventually find. Sort of a Halo Reach vibe - you know how its going to end - but done better.
Or maybe a story set parallel to one of the ME games where you can choose your species.

For my idea RPG. Although a second spinoff that's an RTS would be good too.

Given that ME3 has branching endings, any sequel to it would be tricky story-wise. A game set in the previous Cycle could be interesting though.

Hated Halo Reach, you know how it went down already... why make a game? and the start screen is a "fake" spartan thats only six foot tall being held by the throat by an elite.... oh yeah looks like fun, why waste money on a game where you die at the end?

Or they could just go outside the Milky Way galaxy all together and tell a story that is completely fresh and new, but they have a lot invested in the Milky Way as it is. There's probably a lot they could do, but I don't want to see a story with a character we already know.

Just imagine discovering that your character set in motion the events that will lead to the cycle of extinction, and the deaths of countless trillions. It could be as shocking as the twist in KotOR.

I mean, for me, the most beautiful things about Mass Effects are the races, the Citadel, different locations, interesting characters, etc. and all of these are kind of overshadowed by the Reapers and galactic war. And those are great too, but they limit my desire to just go out and explore Mass Effect's universe with all its different cultures and places. And that is a pity because those in my opinion help Mass Effect do distinguish itself from other games the most.
So yes, I would like to see a bigger, more open and more peaceful version of Mass Effect which would allow me to immerse myself into its universe deeper.
On the other hand, Mass Effect's development team seems to be really focused on dramatic and emotional moments which require certain degree of intensity, action and drama, so too peaceful or too open story would limit their options how to do it...
So I don't know. I guess a simple Mass Effect 4 in the vein of current Mass Effects would be an equally good choice. Of course, the humanity should remain to be important since Bioware seems to be really good at creating human characters.

They could do a story set around the time the Reapers were created. We don't really know what happened then, so there'd be plenty of scope for twists and turns.

Wasn't shocking at all, you could see it coming a mile away. you know the Reapers kill everyone so why would you want to play when they are first created.

Instead of powers and spells we get to do awesome stunts. You are a bit like Jacky Chan, kicking ass at every opportunity, occasionally shooting (but not often), jumping from one impossible set piece from another (Jacky Chan does his own stunts in his films fact that) then choose between several witty dialogue options. Also put a bit of detective work into the game.
Make it daft and silly.
Keep the following
Character creation
Choice of genders
Choice of backstories
Give the player loads of choices that change the direction of the story.
An evil storyline please. Not like Infameous 1 which is the same game just with a couple of evil sidemissions. Proper fully fledged storyline. I'm not happy with an evil person saving the day. It just makes me sick. Heroic people (even if they're Shepard style renegades) saving the day and sick psychotic people destroying the day.
