So you want to play Saint's Row, but more RPG? How come I always find your posts amusing?

Come to think of it Saint's Row looks cool.

I was never a GTA fan but when I tried out Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars I loved that game. It allowed me to deal drugs inbetween the shooting, driving and constantly getting arrested and taking trips to the hospital.

I would like ot try out Saint's Row. I hear the second was the best and the third is basically Grand Theft Auto once you enter all the cheat codes.

An open world sanbox role playing game in a present day city would be awesome.

Saints Row is awesome. I recommend it to everyone. It took the crazy things that were present in the pre-IV GTA games, and fed them steroids. Some people complain that Saints Row The Third is too crazy, but that's why I love it. I will concede that 2 is the best in the series.

On-topic: A game like that set in the ME universe could work... Like, you start off as a low rent thug on Omega, and end up being the boss/CEO/queen (or king) or whatever. Heck, you could even have the main character be Aria and tell her story.

I would love to see a planet/location specific Mass Effect game that doesn't form part of the numbered series. A spin off.

Illium, Omega and the Citadel are my top ones.

Please no game on tuchanka. That planet was depressing! When the Reapers came, they looked at tuchanka and without opening fire they decided that their job was done and moved on.

Another awesome location?

Thessia, or Palhaven. Better still whatever planet the Hanar come from. Play as a hanar for that ocean experience.

Ooo play as Blasto The First Hanar Spectre

You could have an Ecco the Dolphin-esque game with the Hanar. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

I want a Mass Effect MMO!

It's perfect for one. They already have the lore, races, classes and the locations. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see more of the Citadel and Ilium.

Except MMOs are PC exclusive. And a larger portion of the ME3 fandom are console users. They can make it with the console users getting left behind but I expect the result will be a flop. And TOR is out so BW already has one of it's hand's full with an MMO.

Wasn't Final Fantasy XI released on the PS2 as well as the PC?

They could start with fixing ME2. The patch would ideally include actual armor for squadmates (including helmet toggle), removal of planet scanning, replacement of the Hammerhead with the Mako, and a story that makes sense.

By the time they get to work on an MMO, TOR will already have established itself and the work on it would have calmed down. If they decided to do an ME MMO, it would be at least 2 or 3 years from now.

If Bioware decided to make it a PC-exclusive, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't fail. A lot of people who've never even heard of Mass Effect would sign up for the MMO simply because of the nature of the game. A lot of people would also pick up a PC (if they don't already have one) to play it.

Final Fantasy... 11 or 12 I think? Whatever MMO they had before 14. that was available for the 360. I used to own a special edition that had 3 expansions.

I want another Action RPG. Except this time I have more dialogue options. That I can choose a species that isn't a human, and that I can roleplay a character that isn't just a variation of the same preset character. Plus I'm tired of saving the world/galaxy/country or whatever.

Final Fantasy 11  (or IX) had okay reviews and an a reasonable fanbase despite a poor launch. It is not a shining example of how to do an MMO but it got enough right to gain the attention it deserves.

Final Fantasy 14 (XIV) was a disaster. This was the mistake that cost Square Enix big time. It suffered from not only the same fetch and leveling up quests as Final Fantasy IX but went further to add problems and issues that weren't in Final Fantasy IX. The poor menu systems and bad quests made an unimpressive experience.

But FFXIV got one thing right. classes. When you equip a weapon you automatically become that class. Equip a bow to become an archer, equip a staff to become a mage, equip a sword and shield to become a warrior etc.

In conclusion thank goodness I didn't waste any of my time playing either game. I love the single player Final Fantasies (yes even Final Fantasy XIII) but I'll never touch the MMO. Too many poor reviews from reviewers who are more than favourable to the Final Fantasy franchise.

Bioware if you must do a Dragon Age MMO learn a thing or two from Final Fantasy (who made a huge mess twice).

It's understandable that BioWare will want to take a break after Mass Effect 3 and 8+ long years spent working on the franchise and I believe that ultimately during the break the core team will probably decide to go on to bigger and better things but I also think that the core of the BioWare team appreciate by now that the Mass Effect universe is bigger than Shepard and the Reaper trilogy.

After all they've spent years and millions of dollars building a major video-gaming franchise and it would be unwise for the publisher to let a major property disappear from their balance sheet and so it's logical to assume that the reins of the series will be handed over to another BioWare/EA studio who will reinvigorate the franchise while leaving BioWare free to concentrate on their new ventures.

Given the rich history of the universe stretching back centuries and given the difficulty of continuing the lore after the original trilogy it would also seem logical to assume that any new studios will want to explore the major events in the universe detailed in the previous games (set largely before the arrival of humanity). The obvious choice would be a prequel trilogy of loosely connected stand-alone games starting right at the very beginning with the discovery of the citadel, foundation of the council and the Rachni wars (1) leading into a game set during the Krogan rebellions (2) and the rise of the Turians culminating finally in a (3) game set during the first contact wars.

Original prequel trilogy:

1) Mass Effect: Rachni Wars - From the perspective of the Krogan
2) Mass Effect: Krogan Rebellions - From the perspective of the Turians
3) Mass Effect: First Contact Wars - From the perspectives of Humanity and the Turians (featuring Anderson and Saren)

Further time periods/settings to explore:

4) The Prothean-era
5) The Morning War from the perspective of both the Geth and the Quarians
6) The Skylian Blitz from the perspective of the Batarians.

Potential Origin stories:

7) Wrex - early life, family, Jarod, exile, mercenary life and Aria.
8) Nihlus - pretty much a giant mystery.
9) The Life and Times of Thane Krios

My own personal idea as an example of possibilities of games set after the Reaper invasion:

10) A very Batarian Revolution: Lower-caste Batarians launch a surprise uprising against the Hegemony lead by a rag-tag group of Batarian revolutionaries made up of former prisoners, colonists, mercenaries, pirates and slaves inspired by the ideals of the Council races [they] set about to form a new republic.

Set over 100 years after the Reaper invasion: the Batarian Empire refuses to recognize the resistance movement/newly emerging state in the colonies and orders the immediate assassination of the rebel leaders and the public execution of dissenters. The hegemony alleges that the council is behind this [so called terrorist] group and you are tasked with finding out the truth.

You play a Batarian hit-man tasked with assassinating the movements leaders who slowly learns more about the fledgling democracy movement along his/her quest and begins to challenge his/her master's orders, and the morality of the Batarian caste-system and you eventually have a change of heart. Following your defection to the rebellion you are tasked with assisting the rebels in taking back the capital by assassinating your former 'masters' and their accomplices on Camala - striking right at the heart of the notorious evil empire.

*Batarian space as an example is potentially a good way of avoiding any clashes with canonical events/endings of the original trilogy yet still set within the existing Mass Effect galaxy.

How about an MMO on a next gen console - that kind of capability is surely something they're thinking of for PS4 and Xbox 'whatever'...

Problem with the First Contact War is that it was a only a war in name. It lasted a few days? Body count for both sides were in the hundreds. The Turians call it an "incident" (LOL) with good reason.

It's still an interesting topic and the chronology could be quite unique in the context of the series if they did it by hour or counting down. The brevity of the conflict is easily rectified by creating a more personal [e.g. survival] story. Additionally they could show different events from the perspectives of different characters, e.g. Saren, Anderson, Jack Harper, General Williams, etc. and it could afford them with a greater opportunity to flesh out a more fully realized multiplayer mode which might take preference as a development goal... it depends on the developer.

I like Guanxi's ideas. I would like to see what Star Wars did with the clone wars giving you a different perspective from the same time-line. I would like to see what it was like to be in a role of a Spectre before the ME1. C-Sec corruption uncovered, bounty hunting with a Krogan. So much to tell; endless storylines for Bioware to delve into.
