And "you" all dont use Google, Facebook, etc? Hmmm interesting!

So when will you rage against your governement for storing everything you do on the internet for 18 months?

Nope, that sentence has "I", not we. Because I can't talk behave everyone.

I allready have, I have prevented they sharing and storing some information about me.

When You get it, I'm not like you. I care my security and privacy A LOT.

So what made you think you can judge me for saying what i think. If i am against you, then i should shut up?

So tell me how you did it, cause last time i checked there is no OPT-OUT for DATA storage by the governement. Face it, your privacy has no meaning for the governement. Everything you do, is stored ;) Have fun interneting.

Can we please clarify witch goverment you are talking about?

Honestly people are nuts! You guys complain about origin, but doesnt MS Windows also collect info and send it out? your firewalls to, your AVG. I got origin i had EA Download Manager and I got steam, they all good for me, I got nothing on my machine to hide. :/

Yes, the ever repeating argument.

So, if you got nothing to hide, you invite company officials to your home to look at your living conditions, so that they can get a clearer picture of what they might sell you next?

Also, you can disable the windows phone home behaviour without suffering any repercussions.

The point is that people are raging without a clue. While they are raging about Origin, they are still using Google's services and products.

Yes, people are all raging for no reason.

Or maybe they are angry because of reasons other than the privacy issue too. Other reasons which have been discussed until you turned the spotlight onto privacy again. Where you gallantly rushed in and started calling everyone nerds (as if that's a bad thing) for having discussions about things that may affect them.

Also, consider this. People apply different standards to different corporations because of how they conduct themselves.

Well, we've again reached the point of idiotic insults and running circles around things that come up every 10 pages. If you like Origin, just move on and discuss Talis as a romance option or whatever, you have no right to tell others what to think or complain about.

True, but the Mass Effect serie has never been a really big PC seller.

but, i guess 50% of the people complaining here about privacy and origin/ea have an android, but dont care that the phones sends the UUID + geo loc all the time to google..(facepalm)

Read the f...ing EULA and people's reasons to complain before calling them idiots.

And no, I don't have an android, and no, I don't show my naked arse on facebook and no, I don't use Google Chrome, and yes I use google for googling and that's my free decision and nobody forces me, and if I decide to switch to Bing later I can still use my internet.

just cause the eula says that they are allowed to doesnt mean they do
did you read the steam eula? blizzards eula? ubisofts and so on? basicly every ****ing one is allowed to collect data in one way or another, but that doesnt mean they have to.

Uh huh, interesting. But what about those privacy cherishing folks, who don't use Fecesbook,MySpace,Google Mail and their apps, run Linux as their main operating system,  have
JavaScript and Flash deactivated by default, pay cash whenever possible, don't use customer loyalty cards, refuse to use PayPal, never consider buying Apple products, don't use an Android cell phone or a smartphone, don't use their real name on the internet etc. and the list goes on and on. And they do all that, because they are aware! Those are the folks who would like to buy a complete game (no rip-off DLC follow-ups) in a store, go home, install and simply play it. Without platforms like Steam and Origin.
Now what?! Surprised people really do that and sometimes even more to protect their privacy?! Yes, there are. As privacy means a lot to them. And if that's what it takes to do, they will do it. Of course they are aware that in the long run, unless more and more people start doing the same, it will be a fight against windmills.

That isn't a point at all.

Time to educate folks what crap they're installing on a regular basis. Not only are they fair game for the industry and their ads, they also shovel loads of useless processes into their systems.

For me, Origins is just the most recent and blatant attempt to force such junk down the buyers throat.

Well, come on. You're not that trusting, are you?

If they have a clause allowing them to do certain things, they will do them. They have left ther backdoor wide open, so they can introduce new features in the future.

Because I have had enough with the following arguments:
1) We do not want Origin invading our computers, yes we realise that the EULA and Origin itself has changed since the Germany incident but nothing stops them from changing back in the future.
2)Not wanting Origin is a matter of principle. Nothing to do with 'you have something to hide' and all that brilliant talk.
3)No we have not forgone privacy just because we use the internet. In most things about the internet, like networking sites, we have a choice to be a part of and what information to provide.
4) Some of us are not citizens of the US and as such we are used to have our privacy respected more because the laws of our countries make it so.

There are other concerns about Origin but privacy is the primary. The others being the ban issue that makes it impossible for people to play the games they have legally purchased and the fact that EA customer service is nonexistent.
So no, buying ME3 is not an option.

Personally, I could buy it on Xbox but I wont because I am angry and do not want to give my money to people who do not respect me as a customer. So I will rent the game for the console and that is that.

I am quoting myself because I dont want to retype the same things over and over.

No, I'll give you that one... Which surely makes the decision to force Origin and not release it on Steam an unusual one? Battlefield 3 was a no-brainer - the PC market is home to the BF series and they leveraged Origin onto a lot of systems because of it. But Mass Effect? Most of its sales are on 360; why put PC users into such a position, when there's some question as to whether they'd buy it?

*shrugs*

EA are weird. :D

I have no problems you saying your opinion.

How ever, when You say that  my freedom of choices should not be respected because you are fine with current choices. That's where I have issues. Because this Origin client issue is about giving everyone choices what they like, not removing them from others.

In goverment as what they can do, some stuff are what you can't affect, they will store it, but some stuff you can. It depense laws of those countries.

Wait, it's EA wanting OUR money. So they need to play by the rules of the countries they are wanting to sell their products in. As one could observe, there are countries in which they had to change their EULA.

Relief, I'm just wondering why you're here anyway. I'm not joining a group of PETA protesters just to tell them they are morons. I go over to my Rifle association or go deer hunting instead.

You can have your opinion, of course, everyone's entitled for one and if you like Origin, all is good. But don't tell others they're uninformed morons just because they have a different opinion and voice it in a thread that deals with that very problem.

Oh, and btw, telecomunication data storage etc. is very well known and causes a lot of protests. Don't treat us like uninformed sheep. The Pirate party had their recent successes largely based on laws like that and politicians messing with our privacy.

What made you assume i live in the USA? And yes it does make sense. The EULA is country dependant. We might life in Europe, but every country has still its own rules considering privacy. And you should read what the Governement stores. Everything you ever did on the internet for 18 months stored ;) Well thats a real issue and not this Origin raging.

a) what country?
B) how they store that information and where? And no, that''s not that simple. It requires massive amount of storage (ie. imagine storing for 18 monts what 30 milions of citizens are doing on the net)
c) does the law in a said country allow that?

Ah, yes, that....
But you know that there's a slight difference between that and a software that gathers info for no reason?

I must agree with the bolded statement.

People not only want to see how it ends, but see how it ends as soon as possible. But ME isn't going to disappear over-night. You can just vote with your wallet, and hold off to see if it changes in the future. You can always cave and buy it when it comes down in price at Amazon.

Better check your facts. Wikipedia may be nice, but it's not right all the time. E.g. in the case you mentioned about the data retention. It's still an ongoing process and is being reevaluated at present time in Brussels. The outcome of that is yet to be seen. But yes, of course they are trying to establish that as well. That's why it's important that people stand up and speak out!

As I will go into personal information I will not reply directly to tell you what happens in my country but I will say that in the link you gave I saw the prase 'voluntary retention'.AlsoThere is a difference when something is done buy your goverment through laws(witch you can dispute) and when it is done buy a corporation wich also takes away the right you have to sue.
