Oh yes, and you know what my opinion is. Because you've responded to all of them so clearly. And you've read and evaluated the posts of the whole thread properly.

Guess what? I think you are the one who is "retarded". And I've even made a post showing it. Guess you must have missed it.

Better check your facts. Wikipedia may be nice, but it's not right all the time. E.g. in the case you mentioned about the data retention. It's still an ongoing process and is being reevaluated at present time in Brussels. The outcome of that is yet to be seen. But yes, of course they are trying to establish that as well. That's why it's important that people stand up and speak out!

Wikipedia is a really reliable source when its about politics and not about celebrities. And wikipedia was just the first thing i came up with. The fact is that Data Retention is a process that is still ongoing. It may be re-evaluated and lets hope they stop it.

Its important to stand up and speak up, but people wont stand up. Why? It doesnt affect their wallet.

I must agree with the bolded statement.

People not only want to see how it ends, but see how it ends as soon as possible. But ME isn't going to disappear over-night. You can just vote with your wallet, and hold off to see if it changes in the future. You can always cave and buy it when it comes down in price at Amazon.

You are not forced indeed. It is a psychological thing and there are legal ways arround it, like renting a console and the game(cheaper as well). You may not get the same experience as if you had your own saves but you will get closure :P

Sad to see this decision. Really sad. Origin is shovelware and I would be really happy to get rid of it for good.
Really disappointed in Bioware with this decision. Ashamed I am however that I will still buy it. Hopefully Bioware will allow users to get rid of Origin at some point.

And "you" all dont use Google, Facebook, etc? Hmmm interesting!

So when will you rage against your governement for storing everything you do on the internet for 18 months?

Nope, that sentence has "I", not we. Because I can't talk behave everyone.

I allready have, I have prevented they sharing and storing some information about me.

When You get it, I'm not like you. I care my security and privacy A LOT.

So what made you think you can judge me for saying what i think. If i am against you, then i should shut up?

So tell me how you did it, cause last time i checked there is no OPT-OUT for DATA storage by the governement. Face it, your privacy has no meaning for the governement. Everything you do, is stored ;) Have fun interneting.

Can we please clarify witch goverment you are talking about?

Well, lets see. What about Europe?

http://en.wikipedia....#European_Union

Have fun interneting boys ;)

As I will go into personal information I will not reply directly to tell you what happens in my country but I will say that in the link you gave I saw the prase 'voluntary retention'.AlsoThere is a difference when something is done buy your goverment through laws(witch you can dispute) and when it is done buy a corporation wich also takes away the right you have to sue.

You should inform yourself. Its not voluntary, its mandatory.

"
It concluded that data retention was a valuable tool for ensuring criminal justice and public protection, but that it had achieved only limited harmonisation. There were serious concerns from service providers about the compliance costs and from civil society organisations who claim that mandatory data retention was an unacceptable infringement of the fundamental right to privacy and the protection of personal data. The Commission is now reviewing the legislation."

I am not talking about having the abillity to do something about it, i am talking about being a hypocrit. People are hating Origin for privacy issues, but they are still using other companies services which have the same level of privacy issues.

People should really start inform theirselves and stop being so picky. Companies and governement dont care about our privacy. Origin is no exception. But does it stop me from enjoying my life? NO :)

You mean the part where you tell me that i havent read your post where you prove your point of thinking that i am retarded. This sentence covers that:

"But that doesnt mean i have to accept it."

Thats your problem. You cant accept that i am having a different opinion.

I just realized that I was kind of off-topic with my last two posts. However - I think we should ask the question regarding Origin slightly differently: What are the benefits to us, as customers, by having to install Origin? I think the dabate needs a different spin.
For those who want digital download portals, fine, embrace it; but those youwho prefer a physical copy and hassle-free installations and playing, even when EA's servers are down but their own machines work just fine - no need for such a thing as Origin (of course I am referring to non-MP games). How long until the Origin customer database is going be out there on the internet? Weeks? Months?
I understand why quite a large number of people fail to see any advantages offered to them by having additional software forced upon them, not even starting to talk about the EULA of that very same software.

Believe me, living in the European Union I'm very aware of the current legislation of the plans and of the fact that many national supreme courts have branded the planned bill as unconstitutional.

But even if we can't help it and the bill is accepted by the commission, the European parliament, the national administrations and supreme courts, it doesn't mean to invite any wayward company to do the nasty on my computer.

Your arguments are moot in any case, since people not knowing what they're raging about doesn't mean they can't educate themselves. In fact if they take this opportunity to say no, they might take a breather next time itunes, google, yahoo or all the others want to shove yet another app down their throats.

I just said I saw the phrase in there but that was not my point, the difference between goverment and corporation was. I keep myself informed so dont you worry. And I know what goes on in my country. I am very keen to protect my privacy and keep track of everything that concerns it.

Yes, but if the game would be Free, I would still not install Origin client into my computer.

I'm not so sure is it actually psychological, but more like principles.

They wont. Companies like Google offer free products in exchange for your privacy. People are willing to do that.

Privacy has been an issue for years, but people are sleeping.

"Wallet" might be one reason for that, but also because of the fact that many people lack the knowledge (no offense to anyone; it takes time and efforts to attain that knowledge) to understand what is happening. If it were about the regular snail-mail being opened and combed through, they'd understand it. But with this form of communication (internet, mobile phone networks) and the lack of knowledge about what is being done, what the possibilites are and what is in the making but all this being "invisible" they don't get the initial impulse to care and speak out.

The benefit to me for installing Origin is zero, or even negative. I want a digital download of it, but I do not want to be forced into using Origin (a piece of software that has existed in one form or another for almost as long as Steam, but is many times worse, in my opinion). I also want choice in what portal I use. EA is preventing this choice, and as I've said before is anti-consumer, both in this, and the single Point of Sale of Mass Effect/Dragon Age DLC.

_Guy_Fawkes_ wrote...

Indeed. Again, there is a lack of choice here, which is not here by accident, but by EA forcing Origin to be used for both retail and digital downloads.

I mean the part where you've magically missed all my other responses to your posts. And your assumption that you know what my opinion is.

I can respect other opinions, I thought that Ponendus expressed his opinions well, even though I do not allign myself with his point of view.

You on the other hand, came in here and called everyone "nerds" (as if that's a bad thing) for "raging" even though many people have been calmly expressing their point of view. And then you provide condescending posts as if you were above everyone else, dismissing everything while calling people "nerds" and "retarded" (again) and then telling them "happy interneting". And it definitely did not help that your first post was full of grammatical and spelling errors. So tell me how people can respect your opinion when you conduct yourself in such a manner?

Ok we are starting again, thank you all for an interesting debate. I hope those that don't want to buy ME3 for these reasons are informed about that decision at least, and I respect your decision to do so. My parting message is to consider giving a company that made steps to correct their mistake in the past a second chance, so that you can enjoy the game. Perhaps Origin isn't so bad, perhaps it is, question everything.

Cheerio. Back to the DA forums I go... *swoosh*

when they add and opt-out for data mining, and i can be able to run the game without the need to have installed origin after validateing, ill give it a second look ^_^
