There's no proof that Origin collects data from anything other than its own folder.

Not any more at any rate. It used to, as shown in the old screenshots of it, but that changed last August.

Like computers hardware, operating system, Windows registry where is a lot of information about other softwares, users computer use history and software use and so on..

You don't need to scan hard drive to collect data, most of it can be collected through OS (Windows functions).

If you mean can somone brove what data they collect, exactly. No, I don't think so, but then it goes both ways, can't be broven it collects or can't be proven it doesn't collect. Only what we do know that by Origin EULA writen by Company, THEY say they do collect data. And if you run the Origin client so that you can play the game, you can't prevent that data collection in anyway. They also has sayed you can prevent ME3 data collection, what I assume is gameplay related data. So, what data does Origin client collect, if ME3 has it's own data collection?

To the idiots who thought this was a good idea (probably some rich dicks over at ea corp)
If you're going to treat us like pirates, we're going to pirate your game.
Sincerely,
The POEPLE who buy your games!

its hard to find the answer after 124 pages, but is a constant connection of origin required to play the SP only? or can i play it without origin spying on me wile i play the SP only?

You can stay offline while in single player mode.

Plus Origin is not spying on you.  Proof of this was provided at the beginning of this thread that it is no more intrusive than Steam is...... people just choose to ignore it.

(Yes I am aware of parts of the EULA that honestly should be changed but seriously after the incident in Germany it would be an extremely stupid move to try that again.)

Urgh.

Once again, I would remind people that talking about piracy is a fast way for this thread to be locked. Please do not talk about it. Say you're not going to buy their game. Say you'll get it elsewhere, for some other platform. Say you'll get it second-hand (which, btw, hurts them more than piracy). But don't get this thread locked please.

Think of this thread as the "people who want to debate the merits of a program EA is forcing people to use, and the alternative steps that can/will be taken" thread. If you don't care, then okay. But we are voicing our dissatisfaction.

why debating something you cant change? ea wont change its mind, steam want to do it how they want, ea want to do it how they wont. and ea / bw dont care if people wont buy it cause of origin, well maybe BW but they can't change it cause EA owns them. and i cant wait to see all the pirates here getting sued or so and cry about it. cause it will be the fault of EA too!

Nope, not ignoring it. But the EULA reserves the right to do so. Takes a hell of a lot of trust in any corporation to say they won't do what the EULA says. If not now then at some point in the future.

Voicing dissatisfaction. Whether it changes anything or not, we should be allowed to do it here, and that's that. I get you think differently, so let's just leave it at the fact that you don't have to read this thread, just like we don't have to post in it. :)

Ya and if you bothered to qoute the whole post you would have noticed I agree with the need to change parts of the EULA.

I do hope not. They've been very good about keeping this open, and I would hate for a couple of randoms to spoil what has been a very interesting and lively debate. :)

All I can say to those punished by Origin and resorting to other means of obtaining the game is please don't screw BioWare for EA's mistakes: buy a console version at full price so BioWare can get their money and so EA will get the clear as day message that Origin will NOT be tolerated and then play the game as you will but do NOT leave BioWare without their well earned money for making this amazing game.

I really hope that against the odds BioWare finds a way to free themselves from EA's clutches much like Bungie escaped Microsot's grip.....granted that Bungie was never a great studio as all they produced were petty shooters barely worth mentioning but still....

The only message that'll send to EA is that consoles are a stronger market than the PC. Better to not buy the game at all.

Yup. If you do buy a console copy, buy second-hand. Granted BioWare won't get anything for it, but neither will EA, and it won't appear on the sales-charts.

That is something you cannot prevent....consoles ARE a stronger market. Why do you think that EA is not taking their games off the 360 and PS3 in order to have full benefit of not sharing DLC profits as they are doing with Steam? That battle is long gone and lost, nothing you or anyone can do about it. But leaving BioWare unpaid for their titanic efforts to bring us these games is just as wrong as EA trying to force spyware on their fans but two wrongs don't make a right. So yes I fully stand my ground: if you'll play ME3 you should buy a copy not requiring Origin(360 or PS3) at full price.

That would accomplish nothing. Better to ban the offenders and leave the discussion open.

I want to them read that people will pick it up via illegal ways @ Emoking. Locking this thread would just be another sad move and a way to show off their forum powers so to speak.

I really want them to read that people used to spend money on bioware and / or ea games, untill they messed up. I want to think about this if they should read this and if they should take time to even think about what the hell they are doing.

The more different people say this, the bigger this group will be. Meaning, that this group will not be a part of the turnover. And the funny thing is that this group intented to buy the game.

That's a personal choice. I am a firm advocate of letting my wallet speak for me. So BioWare get hurt. Well, so do EA. They shouldn't be so anti-consumer, should they?

Here is the thing about EULAs and Terms of Services. They always, always have that one clause in there that says that they reserve the right to change the terms at at any time they wish. This is not anything new.

The importance of not giving EA any money outweighs the importance of supporting BioWare for me, at least. So I won't be buying or playing Mass Effect 3 in any shape or form. Were I to do so, it'd be second-hand through Gamestop because I'd rather they get my money than EA. But yeah, I won't.

I totally agree with you. However, the mods have the right to lock threads if they think people are condoning piracy. I'm trying to make it very clear to people that the more who say flat out "We won't buy it" and leave it at that, the more chance this thread will stay open.

All I want to know is if you can uninstall Origin after you authenticate your game and still play single player. I have no interest in multiplayer so that is not a concern.

Have we had an answer to this question yet?

I am not interested in multiplayer or DLC's.

Don't have Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, or Dragon Age 2 , Need for Speed the run (not terribly upset about that one)  But I do have about 30 EA games for my 360 on my shelf, I have loved EA in the past but now that I have moved to a PC, frankly I won't get to see the end of Mass Effect, Sorry EA but I won't be purchasing this.

^ This.

Until, of course, EA sell their DLC in places other than the BioWare store, which in turn will alow Mass Effect 3 to be sold on Steam. And that, for me, is win-win. A pro-consumer move that opens up their product to the store I want to buy it from.

The problem could be, that they do change them that fast that many people do not know what TOS is the current one, but I don't blame them, because you get not informed when they change it but still consent to it.
