Somebody should start a "Make Origin Optional" movement. MOO movement. MOOvement. Quite catchy.

Then please answer me, how I can access games bought at the EA store without these requirements, when I'm not willing to enter into the new contract?

It doesn't matter where you purchase the game, all EA games have the same clause. If you do not accept the contract, you may not use the software. (see below)

ELECTRONIC ARTS SOFTWARE END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT MASS EFFECT 2
http://www.ea.com/1/product-eulas

By installing or using the Software, you agree to the terms of this License and agree to be bound by it. Section 3 below describes the data EA may use to provide services and support to you in connection with the Software. If you do not agree to this use of data, do not install or use the Software. IF YOU INSTALL the Software, the terms and conditions of this License are fully accepted by you. If you do not agree to the terms of this License, then do not install or use the Software.

Agreed.  Origin should be an option, rather than being a restrictive requirement.  We all agree DRMs do not work.  As long as there is a way for a game to be reproduced in a factory, there is a way for any of us to reproduce it with the proper knowledge.

Developers like CDP for Witcher is a shining example to follow. Their game are heavily pirated because of the lack of DRM, but it also made their sales strong. ME2's CD check was working great, there was never really a good reason to change that.

Also, you should remove the names of those sites you mentioned, might get you mistakenly banned.

Thanks for the reminder.  I don't post much outside of the Twitter and announcement threads, mostly to avoid the usual table-flipping that goes on the greater part of the forum, so I forgot about the mods (moreso BioWare) being sensitive on the issue of piracy here.

Well... I have seen enough on here and on 3 other forums to say that it's pretty much the end of my Mass Effect gaming... I have followed Bioware since KOTOR, right through... EA with C&C... over the years I have been playing games on a PC (an Amstrad was me first gaming PC) I have watch games become more grand and enjoyable... for me, having to have an online connection or 3rd party software installed on your PC by force takes away from the enjoyablity of the game, also should be illigal. If I was given the choice to want Origin/ Steam to start with... maybe..... Steam was the first to have my envy with Dawn of War 2... Played all of 17hrs of it before i got sick of the updates everytime steam updated... haven't played it since... It seams now EA want to take that same path but go one step further with Origin... Data mining... What's on my PC is for me, on my PC, not for some company to go through and take what they want... I'm sorry EA/ Bioware/ Origin... but for now... I'm getting rid of my pre-order of ME3... and wait to find out if you can be trusted... if ever... I'm not having my PC gone through for whatever info you want... My opinion, I couldn't care if you agree or not....

CD Project made more money from Da2 with just one platform(pc). Than Dragon Crap 2 did in all three platform combined.

With the current frequency EA likes to shoot it´s own foot one would think they´re using a machine-gun.

Too bad, I've already voted...
Maybe we should leave all posts to this one counter.

LOL, you know there are grey Ferrari's because the customer want's it in this colour?
You don't get it, do you? It's against the law in my country to force me to a non voluntary choice regarding personally data. Why do you think our data protectors were contacted EA?
A car colour has nothing to do with it. But I have a better car than Ferrari in the right colour. Thanks for asking. Ahh, and I could decide what colour and what interior it's should be. All my decisions. Bad example.

The example was fine, difference between car for sale and car you own or bought using different seller.

What would the best way to go about organizing such a thing? There is nothing happening right now, but if anyone were to organize such a movement, I'm up to being a part of the vanguard.

Guys, come on. Let's be rational here. You're overreacting to this origin thing. If it was really so bad, do you think millions of pc gamers who bought TOR would have? Come on people.

Origin is only required depending on where you bought it.

Problem is, it would probably need promotion from here, at least to start with. And that thread would get locked down so fast...

Maybe contact a website? Rock Paper Shotgun?

That's the problem with statistics. We only know the people who bought it, but not the people who choose otherwise.

That, and you will lose all eligibility to your Origin games

And if you really feel like being funny, make an account and mention someone else in a flame post on the forums, it'll get the mentioned individual banned too and also make him lose all of his games on Origin.

I have bought TOR, physical copy as always and there is no Origin requirement.

>Trusting EA

I think the best confirmation of Origins being spyware is EA/Bioware denying it. Trusting anything Chris says at this point is just asking for it, really.

For me, I hope Origin allows more games and, at least more importantly to me, more back cataloged titles like KOTOR I & II and Jade Empire. I have no issues at this point with Origin and Mass Effect 3 will be my first purchase using the Origin Client (although all my DA and ME titles were from digital downloads from the EA Store before Origin was announced.)

Yup, ME3 will be my last BioWare game. I would cancel, but I have the CE already payed for. Sorry guys, but your stories are much less important than my privacy.
