It's heartening to see how they start to crumble.

For me it's a principle. No client enters my hard drive. I'm not that sure that ME3 hasn't taken the streamlining express anyway.

Now the bolded part is a concern to me, I think I am one of very few who didn't like ME2 as much as ME1 due to streamlining or also known as refining/improving. But they did promise to bring back some of ME1 charm and not go much deeper into streamline territory. So don't go bursting my bubble right yet, I'm hoping they don't mess up the quality of the game.

And yet, ME2 is more complex then ME1.

Debating how complex ME1 and 2 are isn't part of this thread. Take it to a different thread pls? :D

If it's not on Steam, I don't buy it. Especially not buying if it needs Origin. So another customer lost (yes I know, they don't care unless they lose a significant amout of customers, but oh well).

Enjoy being scanned by Steam with cleverly said lie that you have an option for not being scanned.

They don't mind when Steam does it because they are Valve fanboys so they'll let Gabe rape them as many times as he wants. EA are just the cool company to hate so when they do what Valve are doing they get all upset. I guess most just cant take the fact that ME3 won't line the pockets of their precious Gabe.

I was just skimming and It seemed like it turned more into "does origin actually have spyware in it" topic. And we all know priestly would love a reason to lock this.

The issues being discussed covers why Origin is a problem. It should be on topic.

The story and progression though story felt streamlined (to me personally), including removing some features I actually liked.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the fact that ORIGIN IS STILL IN BETA EA with Battlefield 3 and now Mass Effect 3 are basically requiring you to use beta software! That's UNACCEPTABLE!

And yet it was fine for Valve when expanding Steam on Mac?
It was a Beta for some time o Mac.

I don't mind when Steam does it because Valve has earned my trust over the years, while EA just went out and destroyed any trust when they revamped their Download service into Origin.

I'm saving to buy M3 in PC(I hope the CE but if not the normal edition), and I think what there are enough ways of isolate the Origin software (sandbox, virtual pc, etc.) to be worried about. People, we, the ones who truly loves the Mass Effect universe needs to stop worring about petty things a enjoy of this wonderful stories, yes, it's just a game but I don't see another science fiction universe with the potential of be a the heights of Star Trek and Star Wars. Well, I just wanted to share my opinion, but I feel sad for all the ME team reading all the ranting for the Origin issue :)

P.D.: Off topic, anyone knows how to becamo a QA in the game industrie? B)

Steam had already been established for many years on PC, though - Origin is still new altogether, with many problems that consumers are continually pointing out.

Well, finally.

Thanks, Chris, for the information.

Origin is the final straw for me. I won't be getting the game, at all. The first game I ever cancelled a preorder for was MEpc, due to the EA phone home or your legal game shuts down, limited activation drm. I didn't bother with ME until it was a super sale on Steam, with the EA phone home crap gone. The only reason I bothered with DA:O was the change in drm policy after someone seemed to get a clue from the EA phone home or your legal game shuts down mess. Awakening followed; I had no issues with that. I didn't even consider the less than epic push button AWESOME HOT ROD SAMURAI ANIME whatever it was supposed to be that had the title DA2. Now I can quit bothering to consider anything EA at all. It's been a fun ride, from NWN on; thanks for that, but DA:O was the final stop for me.

I like the partition idea. Has anyone seen tests of a game running in a VM? VMWare player is free and has quite a bit of hardware support passed through. I use it for Linux and you hardly notice the difference from a normal install.

So you don't mind Valve doing the same thing but when Origin does it then it's bad?

EA has a right to make their own gaming platform and compete with Valve if they want to. Valve should not have a monopoly. As much as fanboys like you who lack simple logic would prefer they have a monopoly on the downloads market.

i think it's more combined between Steam has been around a lot longer and people not liking EA (some trustissues of what the application used to do but does no more). As I have shown Steam does send as much information as Origin and thats even though I was not "opted in" to their data sending function. It also has the same terms in it's EULA that it may change it's EULA at anytime.

No, we hate them because they won't play nice with other companies and feel like forcing their will onto the consumers.

I'm not considering any 'circumventing' Origin. For me this is a matter of principles and belief of freedom and self-determination. Why the hell do I have to agree to ANY data gathering from anybody if I PAY for the game to play it? You earn money from copies sold, but you want more by collecting data which is another INCOME one way or another. So you CASH IN TWICE on me and what do I get in return? A HUGE MIDDLE FINGER of UNCERTAINTY. I dont give a **** about you better plan to directly meeting gamers want and needs...

No, they want to stick legitimate customers in the ass. That's what they do. That's what any form of DRM or any obligatory client does. And no gamer should advocate a company doing as much.

EA is well within its rights to create it's own DD platform, but to try to compete with Steam right out of the gate? Even Steam had several years of development before it really became worth using.

The fact that Valve has never done anything with these scans that could harm their customers, and that they don't have anything in their freaking EULA that says they can change the way the program deals with the data whenever they feel like.
