Origin and Mass Effect 3

Origin isn't even a DRM solution, unline Steam. You can play a game without the service running at all. It's just a digital distribution, communication and multiplayer platform.
With that said, I can't fathom how people can talk so much **** about Origin, yet give Steam a complete pass.....unless they enjoy swinging from Gabe Newell's ******.
Yeah, Steam is great no doubt, but I don't love it so much that I would never use anything else. I'm all for competition, and EA is perhaps the only company with enough clout to challenge Steam's domination of the digital distribution service

See my sig for why I hate EA.
So you hate them because they want to cut out the middle man and sell their own stuff? They want to run their own business and make money how terrible. >.>
I hate them because they don't sell DLC for ME/DA anywhere but their own shop. This is anti-competitive, anti-consumer, and it means they can charge whatever they want for DLC and we'd have no recourse to buying someplace cheaper. Because there is no-where else that sells, for example, the Legacy DLC.
You can buy DLC right here on bioware website. then you simply download the stuff and install it. No third party apps necessary. (If I got you right.)
Missing point, I think.
There's nowhere else to buy it. This means, financially, EA have a monopoly on selling it. This is anti-consumer, since they can charge whatever they like, and you're forced to either buy it, or go without.
Compare to, say, Shogun 2 DLC (Shogun 2 being a Steamworks game), where there's at least 6 places that sell it.. I don't disagree that EA have the right to do it, but it goes against the customer, since there's no competition, and no reason for EA to sell it cheap.

I then scanned Steam with it and well......... see for yourself
Also I would like to note that I have no directory on my hard drive labelled C:$Directory
and further down it scanned my entire registry. I was quite shocked when I saw this.
Yep I'm set up to view hidden, this directory doesn't show up.
I would post more images but a lot of it has folders and files containing my real name.

To those who are like "oh, so you don't mind Steam doing the same stuff but when its EA and Origin its okay?"
First off, for me personally the difference between Steam is I've had a consistently quality experience with it. With Origin, I installed it for Battlefield 3 and since then I've had a terrible experience with it. It only just now started to correctly remember my password, until now every time I logged in it somehow forgot my password, and I know I was putting it in right. Who wants to change their password EVERY time they wanna play a game?
Not to mention that the interface is generally clunky and it takes up a LOT of memory. I have both Origin and Steam running. Origin takes up 78,844l at least!!!!!!! Steam only takes up roughly 28,600k of system memory. And you wonder why I want games on Origin instead of Steam?
and then there's the fact that ORIGIN IS STILL IN BETA!!!!! Why is EA requiring us to use BETA software with their products?!?! Was Steam in beta when Valve released it with Half Life 2? I don't remember it being labeled as beta software. Steam may have been clunky at first but at least Valve didn't shove beta software down our throats, and Valve earned our trust over the years with Steam. Why should I buy a game and then the software I have to install still be beta. It should be final version (or rather solid enough that EA wouldn't have to call it a beta anymore). I don't want to pay to be a beta tester of poor software!
It's like comparing Steam with GFWL. I don't like either of them, but GFWL is way worse. Origin will never catch up to Steam.

If your customers demanded you allow other shops to sell your work at a price they wanted without consulting you first taking customers away from buying from you would you do it?
You are within your rights to do what you want with your own material. So are EA.
Except they're already selling at several other retailers and DD services that take a cut, they just won't sell on Steam because none of the other retailers have any problem with them forcing consumers to buy DLC from EA only instead of from them.

BF3 is mainly a multiplayer game so that's understandable. I downloaded a couple of games from Origin, like Dragon Age. You download, install and from then on you can run them from the executable. Origin doesn't have to run.Emoking wrote...
