Pre-order cancelled. Getting a pirated PC version WITH OUT ORIGIN or the xbox360 version.

Considering you have no Bioware games registered I am assuming you already went that route before?

Yes I don't need/want games requiring extra programs installed to play them. Its the same with Microsoft with their Microsoft games network.

So, not supporting the development team who actually makes these games is your way of getting back at them?  Because you don't like the download mechanism?

No I should correct my first post. I would sooner get it on the xbox360 console WTIH OUT ORIGIN and get a pc free version of it. I still support Bioware even when they make stupid decisions. Origin should be optional for those who already have and use it but not 100% required. Even after this I love the games they make!

Ironically Origin will collect the same data already being collected by the EA games they already have on their computer (when you log in inside a game it sends EA the data).

Essentially closing the barn door after the horse has already bolted.

That's a great article.  Ubisoft is probably the worst publisher out there in terms of harassing DRM.  Origin isn't even close, from what I have read.  I can't even describe the anger I felt when I realized I would need a full time internet connection to play AC2.  I just lost interest in the franchise.  What a horrible decision.

Anyway, back on point.  I don't have Origin installed yet as I don't have any games that need it.  I would be interested to see what it actually does.

All I want to do is buy the physical retail copy and play single player, so why is Origin forced upon the player?

I own two games on Steam, Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim. Neither has been a hassle free experience. Somewhere along the way, New Vegas became corrupted. It am thinking after a patch. When I bought New Vegas, I did not even know I would have to have Steam! This Origin requirement will probably catch some by surprise as well. With Skyrim, it took me three and half hours to install the game. Steam kept trying to download the entire digital version instead of just using the disc. My Hughes Net satellite service would never allow such download volume! So, I had to Google and search the forums for the answer in order to be able to install from the disc. Now, I realize that this probably would not of been a problem with most people, but with my intellectual limitations, it caused distress. Once I got it installed, I have never been back in the “online mode” of Steam since then!

Thus, I fear unwarranted nuisances ahead with Origin, as well.

That makes more sense.  I agree with you that Origin should be optional.  But, I wouldn't let that lead me to steal something.

And if I don't want Origin making a library of my games?

Don't install it.

That's what it's come to.

Of course, that means I can't purchase or use EA software any more.

Too bad for them.

Too bad for you.  EA isn't going to care if Killjoy Cutter doesn't buy any games from them.  $200 or so a year is nothing to them.  They probably figured exactly how many people would stop buying their games if they put Origin in, factored in how many people would get it anyway, then start buying games from Origin, and it ended with them on top.  Profit margins ignore the vocal minority.

Right...just like Ubisoft figured out exactly how many people would stop buying their games.

Assassin's Creed series is better-selling than BOTH Mass Effect and Dragon Age combined.

So... yeah :P

At the cost of losing all but 10% of their pc market

and they 've didnt learn anything from that, now games that were supposed to come on pc platform are canceled and made only for console. just pure hate from ubifail, i hope origin will reward ea with the same result.

Still... As much as I love PC games (and would probabaly be one for decades), PC gaming is not really a huge dent in the gaming market as a whole.

That said, REALLY GOOD article... I still hate Ubisoft for dumping crap on me in From Dust. :crying:

Well... not so little: http://www.newzoo.co...raphs_2011.html

Russia, Brazil, Spain, Italy or Germany are countries where lots of people spend lots of money on PC games.

So the hard working men and women at BioWare who have put 8 years of their lives into this game mean nothing to you and you're going to steal it because you disagree with Origin. Even worse is the fact that you're rude enough to shout it on the companys' own forum. If you pirate you are stealing and are a criminal, so if that's what you plan to do, get the hell off these forums which are for fans and people who support BioWare and their products, not criminals who would steal their creations.

Not going to happen. Simple as that EA will not lose all but 10% of their PC market over Origin and also Ubisofts version is a million times worse than Origin or Steams. I spend half my time here and half roaming the net on gaming sites like Kotaku and more and here is where most people are complaining, everywhere else most people are ok with Origin with only few people reacting badly. ME3 will sell millions I promise you that and also the pre-orders are increasing by thousands each week with still 9 weeks to go. Even people in this thread have calmed down mostly and have been shown Origin is not as bad as has been claimed. Though as always the section that simple do not want any client software installed will never be swayed however they are vastly less in number than those with only slight issues or misunderstanding.

And you will get them. Gauranteed. I've had issues with every single client on my PC, that at one time or another have prevented me from launching a game. The only way to have a hassle free experience is to not have a client involved.

I feel sorry for the developers but I cannot in good faith support EA's attempt to undermine Steam. I will be boycotting Mass Effect 3, just as I did with Battlefield 3. I like to keep all my games in one place and I already have over 500 games on Steam - I already have Dragon Age, Dragon Age II, Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 on Steam, so this will be one of the few Bioware games I won't be buying.

My opposition is not Origin itself, even though it is inferior to Steam; my opposition relates to EA's decision not to release the game on Steam. Please Bioware, if you have any influence whatsoever then please convey to EA the disappointment from users over this decision.

Odd... What was the problem you faced with Steam? :?

I can't remember a time when I ever had trouble with digital platforms like Steam or Origins.

The only big one I recalled was GoG... That was bad. :pinched:

All I can say is what a way to put a dampener on an anticipated game, frankly I don't know why these companies keep bothering, Origins will get smashed the same as the rest, in the mean time the legit customer still gets treated as a criminal, guilty before proven innocent.

I still want to get ME3, but I'll do as others and sandbox it.

I gotta ask....given that other games published by EA do not require Origin, what exactly makes them decide which game to saddle with it?

GoG has no software client. Steam does. Gog has no DRM. Steam does. Steam has repeatedly denied me acess to games when my internet crapped out, or bothered me with password requirements. GOG does nothing of the sort, because all that's on your PC is the game. It also runs old games that are initially incompatible with modern OS's. Maybe that was your problem.

I hate Steam as much as any other bullsh*t client. I love GoG, because nothing goes on my PC but the game.

Edit - damn, I just fell for a troll.

WILL NOT be buying ME3 now that I have learned the it will require origin. Skipped Battlefield 3 because of it, and now, sadly looks like Ill be skipping every bioware game because of it as well. All this crap is destroying PC gaming, EA and Ubisoft are evil.

I still wonder how long it'll take for an Activision version of Origin to come out.
