I have an Asus. It's one of their gaming models! I'm pretty sure Crysis is supposed to work on it (and indeed it does it's just my comp decides to throw a fit once in a while).

Ok captain semantics.
EA is completely right in doing this because their intentions are true?

:D

I'm not saying that but I'm just saying I don't think their intention was to screw us over but instead to push their client they wish to compete with Steam using in the up and coming years. However I have no major problems with using Origin, in fact do use it aswell as steam and Ubisofts version. It currently no longer scans anywhere except registry and game folders. It sends less data from my computer than the rival client of Steam (even without being Opted In to extra data sending of surveys in Steam) and is less annoying to use than say Ubisofts version. The EULA in every client regardless of Steam, Ubisoft or Origin has the same wording about possible to change EULA at their discretion).

I don't think there is anything can be done to appease those who hate all possible clients though. This will not change and EA will not scrap using Origin as it is part of their long term plans and goals to have a digital distribution service like Steam. I think we all know this to be the case. I belive (though have no proof) the reason they use the biggest titles of the years like BF3 and ME3 for pushing the distribution of their client is because for whatever group of people hate it, on the biggest titles they are by a truly vast amount outnumbered by those who wish to play those 'best' games. Due to this ME3 will not make much loss of sales in comparrison to the millions who are not as opposed.

THats the point though.
i'm not against EA wanting to compete with Valve.
I've already said I'd be fine with not having it on steam (thought I would prefer it)
I'd even be fine with using Origin.  But not in its current state.

Lol ATI has buggy drivers, maybe thats why it wasnt supported. IMO Radeon is more unstable but has higher performance, like Kaidan's implants, lol.

I've never had issues with Radeon drivers on any game, though I know plenty of people with NVidia that have had issues over the years. By the same token I've had issues with every Seagate drive I've bought (and several friends/family members as well) where the drive was either DOA or died within 2 weeks. Yet other people have no issues.

2. Steam doesn't limit your ability to offer DLC, there are a large number of Steam games with DLC. What it does is makes you give them a cut for using their service, which is perfectly understandable since you're using their servers and their bandwidth.

Not only that, but I've got Bioware games with DLC on my computer. And the games are on my Steam account. There's no reason for EA to go against Steam except money.

Hmm. this makes me wonder if they included multiplayer in ME3, just so they had some "valid" excuse for insisting that everyone install Origin.

How many ME3 gamer will play MP? 50%? It should be optional though.

Oh I 100% agree with you.  I'm just wondering if they felt they needed some kind of weak excuse to justify their actions, and thus ... multiplayer.

Something I want to point out:

http://kotaku.com/58...i-games-of-2011

Note that 2 of those 5 are origin exclusive.

Origin does not stop criminals, it is ineffective and punishes your customers, not the criminals.

Criminals will have Mass Effect 3, without having Origin, with no DRM, for free, and they will get it days earlier than paying customers.

I still want to hear from EA why they stab their customers in the back like this.

And TW2 with no DRM was also pirated a huge amount even if not as high amount as those. However you have to remember one thing, what people steal the most is mostly based on player preference for types of games. FPS titles are stolen more because more people like FPs titles etc.

CDprojekt Red's "extrapolation" of piracy of the Witcher 2 was flawed.  It was pirated a lot less than they indicated.

It was a faulty estimate.

I bought the Witcher 2 from GoG (instead of Steam) specifically because it had no DRM and it seemed like a cool thing for a developer to do, so I supported it.  It was one of my favorite games of 2011.

Lol....if Valve ever releases H-L3 I bet they make it Steam exclusive. Way to go, EA!!!

Now I wonder if Origin is required for KoA...

I doubt it. EA doesn't own 38 Studios.

no seriously...anyone has an answer? a more thought out answer?

On what? Your question I already answered. That is the most comon sense why they bundled with the biggest games. Bigger sellers means less risk because more people like it the less chance they will neglect it. That makes the most sense to me, if thats not the answer you want I'm not sure what answer you will be happy with.

dude...considering which games do not require origin your argument would require more proof
again think of crysis 2

If you don't belive me then you are free to keep asking till find answer you find acceptable then. Everying I said was quite obviously my opinion. Go ask EA (they won't come here to answer you in person).

My god, you are really brave! That's like the worst thing ever happened to videogames. Reading they've lost around 90% of their PC sales in the last few years makes me really happy, it's just Karma. They deserve it for the monstruosities they've made in terms of DRM and their ubber-crappy ports.

The biggest sellers

seriously? because Crysis was INCREDIBLY pirated....crysis 2 sold very well yet no Origin

Crysis sold very well, much better than any Bioware game (considering it was PC exclusive).
Crysis 2 is not Origin exclusive, because it was released before EA and Valve break up.

No speculation needed. They've already announced that KoA:R will not require Origin. So will the demo.

Well this proves EA is in fact telling the truth , Windows not origin is the one that is scanning things.

I like this too.

I've tested Origin Version
- 8.3.1.9 (2011/11/3) => access to all folders outside Origin related (= complete Application Data folder of all Windows users) + IE folder
- 8.3.3.35 (2011/11/7) => access only Origin folder + IE folder + Setup.exe: "My Images", "My Music", running programs

My Windows wasn't updated in this time.
How is it possible that Origin's behaviour was changed?
It's like a miracle.

The biggest sellers.

More and more that makes me suspect EA's practices, as with the original EULA, they thinly veiled that the real product was not the game, but your information sold to marketing groups.

Is a game suspected to sell millions?  Well we'll get a lot of money selling those million's info!

Not expected to sell millions?  Not worth the bother.

Not sure if it's related but it was around November 1st when EA finally responded to German scandal and suppousedly changed EULA there. Perhaps they also quetly changed the way the program behaves? It was after all the process monitor reports/screenshots that saw Origin accessing literally everything on PCs.

It's not factual, in that it is just a possibility. Factual would require asking them directly and hoping they tell you the real reason. It is factual that they are the only ones who know the real reason for "thier" action.
