no thanks....I actually got a factual answer

It's not factual, in that it is just a possibility. Factual would require asking them directly and hoping they tell you the real reason.

Crysis 2 came out before the schism.....fact, answer, right there

Again not factual, they could of made it come with Crysis 2 as the first game to bundle it with as opposed to titles like ME3 or BF3 if so chose at time. Now I am done on this specific subject with you.

You just lost a sale. What kind of idiots makes these decisions that will turn most of your legit customers to pirating and result in millions of dollars less in sales?

I've had Origin running for 8-10 hours or so while I've been at work/away and Origin didn't leave its root folder according to process monitor. Same results I had earlier when I let it run while I slept.

Trying to run Crysis on a Macbook, huh?

won't lose millions and I don't think 'most' will turn to stealing over Origin either.

Yeh at this point although we all covered this aspect as well as many others earlier on the large amount of new people who came online skip all that and jump into attack mode without reading what they missed while away.

Not surprising. They know they're being watched now so doing anything to damage the already damaged trust would be foolish. They're not that crazy.

Nothing wrong with my English, thanks. I suggest you learn to capitalise your sentences and end sentences with full stops before rage about another persons language skills.

This is good news. Though, could you also test it while actually using Origin? Playing games on it? If you have any games on Origin you can play of course. Or test it when you do other stuff on your computer.

I do wonder if they quietly updated it after the German scandal so it doesn't access anything but its own folder thus there won't be a repeat of teh German scandal which was in part on Origin accessing all the various folders.

Re the bolded: I'm pretty sure that's what occured. Maybe I'm paranoid but I don't see how something could "mistakenly" search your whole harddrive.

As long as they've stopped I'm pretty whatever. I just hope EA decides that constumer satisification and privacy are more important than selling market data to third parties.

That's great.  You willing to monitor it's activity 24/7 for as long as it's installed?

I'm not.  I need guaranteed assurance that the damn thing will behave, and at this point. there is literally NOTHING that EA could do to give me that assurance.  It simply will not be run on my pc under any conceivable circumstances.

I few of us have been running tests on what looks at and other clients including Steam earlier. We also checked resources and how much data is being sent in comparrison too. There is no way to know what is sent however but amount and where looks is about best we could find out.

It currently looks only in registry and games, Origin folder. It send less data out from the computer compared to other clients like Steam (even when not opted in to surveys). That is what it does right now. The current version of Steam came out the worst in tests. Wolf did that test many pages backand personal information was looked at via Steam while Origin no longer does. My test found Steam was sending more information than Origin with both running the same time in background for fixed period of time while I am not actually opted into their information sending gathering function.

This question has been evaded by the staff for a long time. It's either they do not know the answer for it, or they do not want to say anything further to lose potential sales.

For a long time?

IsaacShep wrote...about 2 days ago, Modified 1 day ago

To Chris Priestly

1) If we do not intend to use multiplayer, can we uninstall Origin after completing one time single authorization for the single player game?

2) Also, will I have to install Origin EVERY TIME I install Mass Effect 3, or after one time single authorization I will no longer have to install Origin ever again?

The question was asked late Friday and it's now late Sunday at least wait for the work week to begin before making assumptions.

Not sure if it's related but it was around November 1st when EA finally responded to German scandal and suppousedly changed EULA there. Perhaps they also quetly changed the way the program behaves? It was after all the process monitor reports/screenshots that saw Origin accessing literally everything on PCs.

Yes, it's right.
I did the tests with different versions because I want to know if it was true what they said. Luckily I had downloaded the original spyware version before the changes (^^ first one). The first statement after the BF3 release weekend was in Germany: "Windows is responsable for file accessing and not Origin."
It's not true.

I never bother with punctuation much while typing from my tablet, on the other hand your previous sentence made no sense

I think those are hidden posts, unvisible to regular users. I often seem them in announcement threads, from Chris, Jessica. They're visible on "last posted", but when you enter the actual thread, you don't see any post. Unless "last posted" also means "last action performed in the thread", in this case it would register Chris activity even if he just edits threads/posts.

The question was posted not long after Chris started the thread, then inbetween Chris' random visits, no answers were given. Intentionally evaded.
