but I have never had a single problem or complaint about my English over here in the UK when speaking to others outside the internet to other English people.

Perhaps you may just come off as talkative in real life

:D You could very well be right.

Though I prefer to listen in real life and speak when only have something to say. I'm not good at the 'shooting the breeze' or chit chat as it were. I find girls are and always will be the best at that, much more so than guys.

I'll get back on topic now.

You shouldn't have any issues with some programs running in the background when you play then..it's not really much of an issue if you had to get Origin.

But that's still RAM that could be going towards the game instead of being wasted upkeeping Origin. :pinched: (that said I know ME3 isn't likely to use up all 4GBs (Unless I start using texmod again =]) but still it's irkesome).

Chris,

I thank you for answering the questions put by the community, but I would like to point out that, in regard to data collecting,  your FAQ raises a number of questions regarding our privacy. I am so much concerned that I decided to post about the Origin problem for the first time.

While we have an opt-out for ME3 data collecting we have none for Origin. EA also claims Origin is not Spyware, but does not answer the vital question about what Origin does. (I found the EULA vague and, frankly, alarming in regard to privacy).  To make things worse, the EULA seems to give the impression that EA claims the right to collect data from anything within our PCs, anytime,  without even bothering to inform us…(I may be wrong about this).

So I will be candid and put some questions I’ve been concerned with here:

Does Origin collects and sends any data, at all, from our PCs, or not?
If so, to whom?  To EA alone, or other companies as well? If so, what companies, exactly, and why?

Very important: What, exactly, is collected from our PCs?
(example of what I’m aiming here: if I knew it collected  information only about what EA games I have installed and nothing else, that would we reassuring, but if it was something vague as “data that allows us, at EA, to improve our relation with our customers,” it would not, as it is too vague for us to know what you are aiming for).

Also; why, exactly, is it being collected?

(if we are supposed to give you our data, it would be nice to know what, exactly,  is it for).

Most importantly; in regard to Origin, why can’t we have an opt-out from data collecting, or can we?

(Not everyone has the same desire of privacy. It is both an individual and cultural issue; it would be great if EA would acknowledge this by allowing those of us who desire greater privacy to keep it).

Finally; assuming the EULA does not reflect what exactly is being collected, (it seems to give EA the right to collect anything),is it going to be changed to be accurate? If so, when?

So there you have it.

As a note, would like to add that I’ve been buying and playing most of your PC games since Baldur’s Gate to DA2. Now as a rule, I don’t game much, but Bioware is the exception; and I honestly would like to keep it that way; that said, I value my privacy greatly, and I do not desire to abdicate from it, so  I desire to know if Origin operates within what I can accept or not.

Thanks for reading, and if you can get any answer for this, it would be much appreciated,

 Vallore

There's a limit to how much RAM a game uses, doesn't really matter.

Origin for me usually is between 50k and 75k memory for comparison Steam is around 25-50k usually. When I play BF3 Battlelog is the "meh" part. It requires my Firefox to be open and that usually takes nearly double the memory of Origin.

Firefox doubles the memory of Origin? You should use another browser.

Read my edit.

If I decide to use texmod it really does matter. Plus I tend to use the 4GB patch anyway. (I use it for Skyrim and DA2 at least).

Plus I tend to enjoy making walkthroughs and videos and Fraps takes a nice chunk of that as well. Bits at a time but they add up and the last thing I need is another chunk being used.

IE sucks and Chrome tracks what you do online. Only Opera is left, and some other less known browsers.

You might telling me how many resources it used while you were playing as well? I hope I'm not being a bother. D:

Tests I ran showed the same roughly. Origin was around the 90k mark though and Steam was 50k mark. Steam took 10% more CPU resources though than Origin.

No I was saying my Firefox/Battlelog uses double the memory of Origin. Google Chrome is better for Battlelog but I hate Google Chrome. It was just a subtle complaint of mine about BF3.

Same but when I launch battelog it spikes up into the 100,000s for some reason. I assume it is the addon it requires you to download and update all the time causing the high spike.

It's a bold move by EA, because they will be losing a large number of PC sales by snubbing steam. But then, they are a console first developer now. PC sales may not really matter to them.

Firefox has been going over 100k routinely on my system lately. Especially starting with version 5+.

It also freezes a lot now. I switched back to IE9.

Wow.. That is quite high. Firefox on mine only 80k, Chrome is 115k.

I'm guessing addons plays a part and also system specs and applications on the computer have an effect.

Get some anti malware programs and do a scan to be safe, I don't know why your Firefox is doing that. I've been looking at mine, very rarely it goes up to 60k, but never higher. Average around 7k~35k.

I have Kaspersky. I'm pretty sure it's not malware.

Don't have any addons. Might be my apps on my comp though.

Don't know if it makes a difference, but I have Avast on. No harm scanning for malware if you have time.
