You know who you are. Bioware/EA is laughing at you...

They're laughing at me because "I will mindlessly use Origin" but the jokes on them! I already have Origin, so this is no sweat off my back. Am glad I don't have install anything new, however...

See that's the thing I , origin just has a one time activation to play the game and you never have to worry about it again. Most people plan on playing SP anyway , so I'm not getting the whole cancel a pre-order because of one time origin activation.

Quite a few are what I call "huff and bluff" but there will be some who will keep to their convictions. It won't be as high as taking everyone who says it at face value though by any means. It actually bugs me that so many people do use the huff and bluff because it makes the legitimate one's who do mean it less believable.

Only EA and Bioware will know how many actually follow through though and those same people, the ones who do stick to their word may actually within the next 9 weeks change their mind. I do not think Bioware will be laughing at it though as they are ok people in general and EA seriously will not be bothered as ME3 pre-orders are drop in the ocean compared to their income from all games/all genres and all services.

"Bioware listens to it's fans" Well, let's see:

-Hiding MP for months when everyone knew about it.

-A year showing only combat (Still wating for a Pulse episode about the RPG side of the game... if there is one that is) when there was a considerable amount of people asking to see other aspects of the game (Pulse episodes about sound and VO were good, the last one about writers wast just meh, nothing, and I mean it, NOTHING new was revealed or said).

-Kinect, who asked for this? I mean, really. (No, I'm not talking about Microsoft)

-No PC keyboard shorcuts for the menus... Really Bioware? 2012 and you can't put that simple feature? We know that the game will be a port, but just please, even ME1 had it.

and now...

-Origin... is there more to say?

Yeah, definitely Bioware listens to it's fans.
And to everyone who wants to reply to me, do it in a PM so we can discuss it without going off topic. This is just MY opinion about Bioware and EA. If you don't agree, I really don't care.

Who wants to bet that if ME3 on PC doesn't sell well EA will blame piracy?

Now go look up...oh....every single other port on that site:

"Port 443 is known to have vulnerabilities caused by trojans and remote code execution."

"Port 80/udp is known to have vulnerabilities caused by trojans and remote code execution"

"Port 8080/tcp is known to have vulnerabilities caused by trojans and remote code execution."

"Port 1709 is known to have vulnerabilities caused by trojans and remote code execution."

"Port 1720 is known to have vulnerabilities caused by trojans and remote code execution."

"Port 591/udp is known to have vulnerabilities caused by trojans and remote code execution."

Conclusion?  That site is basically just using a generic, fill-in-the-blank template and isn't very useful.  That or you should stop using the entire internet.

Yeh I think most people realised this thats why never responded, myself included.

Note that 2 of those 5 are origin exclusive.

Origin does not stop criminals, it is ineffective and punishes your customers, not the criminals.

Criminals will have Mass Effect 3, without having Origin, with no DRM, for free, and they will get it days earlier than paying customers.

I still want to hear from EA why they stab their customers in the back like this.

Stabbing us in the back implys we didn't see this coming.

More like spitting in our face and telling us to like it.

Honestly, the line I keep thinking of whenever someone from EA or Bioware talks about Origin is Mike Tyson's infamous "I'll ***k you till you love me!"

Seriously with all the pirate talk in this thread as an "I'll show you!"? I hate that yachts cost so much, I don't go down to the marina and try to commandeer one.

I hate Origin as much as most of you on here but really if you want to not give EA a cent of your money and still play the game just wait a week for the used shops to start getting copies and buy it there. I know that Origin will still be an issue that way but as many posters have stated in this thread and over the last few months allowing EA to try and data mine your pc and allowing it to be successful are two very different things.

EA might not like this method and delete all references to it but it is legal and currently not against the ToS. You will still make your same point to EA but not be a thief in the process.

Obviously he's right, look at how Steam is held so highly in PC players eyes, and they make a killing. EA just wants to make as much money as possible, anywhere, anytime.

thats why valve is my favorite company because they understand the world and the customers. they treat you right and im always happy to spend money on them because i know i can trust them far more then others. i do admid that i use ubisofts DRM for assassins creed. at least they have changed it that you still can play the games even when the connection is lost.
i support valve/steam. never ever had any hassles with them. if i had a problem, i got a good and fast service that fixed my problems.

People supporting origin:

I don't think you get it.

It's about drawing the line. had people not made this big fuss about INVADING OUR PRIVACY and STEALING OUR INFORMATION. EA games would've kept that feature in and huk huk all the way to the bank. I'm sure you wouldn't understand, but get this, let companies get away with minor things and it WILL build up quickly.

I also will not be buying Mass Effect 3 for PC. This origin nonsense is the last straw. The dlc crap was one thing, and now this? No thank you. There's too many other companies out there that want my money, and they aren't as evil.

Also I should mention that a lot of you guys are seperating EA games and Bioware. Stop doing this. They knew what they were signing on for. They deserve equal blame.

Since BF3 used new tech allowing people to push their hot rod rigs to the max I think quite a few looked past Origin. ME3 is based on a game engine almost as bad as Gambryo, add that with the bad rap of the leaked beta and EA could be in for a nasty surprise come March. At least they will sell a ton on the 360 where they will have to pay the Microsoft tax on DLC they are unwilling to pay Valve.

I put Origin on a laptop so I could study it for myself. Doesn't seem to be doing anything outside it's folder so far. Had it running a few hours. Only question is do I feel like spending time monitoring it.

I was really looking forward to ME3, but I'm not installing Origin. It's been something like 10 years since I've pirated a game, and EA and Origin are the reason I will illegally download ME3. Good job turning a paying customer into a software pirate.

And you fellows, ladies might stand a chance of getting such if Origin was solely about DRM and which DRM they wish to use on their products. It is not though and is more about pushing their digital distribution client, the DRM aspect is secondary I am sure. Bare in mind even if I am sure it is still just an opinion.

IF ME3 PC doesn't sell well, I may have a heart attack.

DA2 (don't flame me!) had a metric crap ton of bad publicity before its release and, even though sales weren't astronomical, they couldn't have been terrible given the rumors of DA3, so I think its safe to assume that the ME name on its own will surpass sales expectations despite "setbacks".

IF it doesn't sell well, I guarantee they'll blame piracy/the PC market....

Indeed.

If not for consumer outrage and governments in Europe making displeased noises, the broad-scanning behavior of Origin and the "we can sell anything we learn" clause in the EULA that were both supposedly "mistakes" would still be there.

First , saying it again orgin does not use any private files or information(facebook and other online services do).Origin collects non-private data like ip address to optimize the connection , computer hardware/software , and if you have a legal copy that's not hacked.

If they lock it NOW, it would be plain old censorship. Talking about an idea isnt bad, explaining how to do it is. So far, nobody has linked to a pirate site or given instructions on how swashbuckle.

From your lips to Bioware/EA's ears
