Funny, but I can't think of a parent who'd ever trust anyone on the registered sex offender list, they wouldn't believe his rationalization of his crimes, or anything like that, they would simply be wary of him (or even consider moving).  In that same vein, I don't care about EA's rationalization or claims that they don't do that anymore, the fact that it showed Origin scanning someone's tax information was END OF THE LINE, I cannot even give them the slightest amount of trust, ever.

Origin never scanned any taxinformation.
Take a second look at that video.
It did search which folders are in the ProgramData folder (as does Steam if you want to add a game).
If you look at the time that is displayed in the video you will see that Origin needed less than a second to work through the whole several gigabyte big folder. You can also see in that video that no files not related to the function of Origin were accessed at all.

I really wish that people would start to look at supposed evidence and not just repeat what somebody said somewhere on the internet.

Origin is not a very good piece of Software. It was released far too early and would have needed more time in development. Support may be non existent, and the service so bad that I discourage anyone from ordering there (speaking from personal experience here). But it is not and never was spyware.

Haha, if it weren't a direct port, that wouldn't have happened. It's common practice nowadays to have DLC -- Disk Locked Content in games. I miss those days when we buy a game, we know it's the complete package.

Don't we all. Another issue I think customers are all too willing to look the other way.

The only one to blame here is the PC community for that.IT started on PC and spread to consoles , so I'm not getting the anger.DLC conteent has to be planned for , it's why part of the content is locked on the disc's.It makes it far more easier to add to the game a few month's later or Day 1 if part of the code and assets are their on the disc.

False. I saw a screenshot showing Origin scanning folders outside its own folder. Don't make a post about misinformation and then spread misinformation.

It was a spyware, they've amended it now, but do not deny that it was spying because it was.

That was the point of the video link....I had worked out a nicely phrased response, but this pretty much covers what I was saying.  You can't always rely on what you see on the internet......

Download and evaluate the software for yourself instead trusting unclear video's and false information.

And you would be wrong. Your doing nothing more than fear mongering at this stage.

It is fine to have an opinion on something, it is even fine to have zero trust in anyone who may not have pleased you or might have offended you in past. But do not kid yourself into thinking that your predictions of the future are in anyway factual. If you are this level of offended then you will never be happy with what EA does or Bioware by proxy.

They will not remove Origin as it is their goal and desire for the future, they will continue to improve it in order to compete with Steam and like Steam it will be shipped with their products just like Skyrim was for Steam.

If you will never be able to get over that specific issue you are in for a big surprise. I have been on many sites and here the disgruntled is the loudest heard which is perfect sense given here is where the product creators reside ME3. All other sites I have been on the overall vastly higher amount of people were not offended and were willing to buy ME3 with Origin. Even on here for most it is a multitude of different issues people have and those range from minor to major. Your on the most extreme major end of that range and there are few people at that end on here (some but not many).

You will also note that EA always denies that Origin isn't doing anything wrong, but never actually offer up any proof that they are doing what they say.  Why in heaven's name do they expect the burden of proof to be on us (a la Chris Priestly at the beginning of the thread)?

Legally the burden is on "us".

Legal burden of proof
http://en.wikipedia....burden_of_proof

The burden of proof is often associated with the Latin maxim semper necessitas probandi incumbit ei qui agit, the best translation of which seems to be: "the necessity of proof always lies with the person who lays charges.

True, except at the moment this is not currently a legal issue ... it is a customer trust issue.  If customer's have questions about your trustworthiness and about your practices (any ou want to retain those customers) there are a couple things you don't do.  You don't tell your customers that their fears are unfounded and then tell them theat they just have to trust you on it.  You don't make your customers provide proof that wideheld beliefs about your product are wrong, when you could easily provide proof yourself and get rid of their fears.  If you do either of these, your comments come out as empty, and an already distrusting customer base distrusts you even more.  Nothing they are doing here is good for EA/Bioware's image or for their company.

unfortunately many people are blind or cant think outside of the box.
just like politicians, companies always will twist the words that it sounds like a good deal but in truth it means it will bend you over once they have the chance.
thats why €A can change the EULA as many times as they want, they will back stab you at any time in the future.

I'm tired of your silly arguments. A prediction by its very definition can not be factual. However, it can be a reasonable prediction. You see, when predictions are backed up by past events, evidence and logical reasonings it's not fear mongring. It's call using your head.

Try it sometime.

It's like you saying that if a kid went out and played in traffic that there is no factual truth to him/her likely getting injured.
You realize how insane that sounds? come now. I know your  biodrones come in all sorts of color but this is beyond fanboyism.

My goal is not for them to remove origin. Why would I care. Just stop forcing me to use it to play games that. do. not. require them. This is not an unreasonable demand. Only people so used to being anally raped by corporations can't tell the difference between reasonable demands and unfair ones.

As do most people including myself. Because I do not then end up relying on false information or out of date information from fear mongerers or people who try to push their agenda via propaganda.

I tested the three clients Ubisoft, Steam and Origin as did many others and we posted out results many pages ago.

We are not basing our opinions on out of date material or conspiracy theory or just rumour. We looked for  ourselves and tested it ourselves. The end result is we are more informed than those who do not bother.

There is already a butt secks thread...no need to post that here.

BTW, reasonable, like:  "I don't want origin because someone's friend saw someone's brother post something on the BSN about someone in Germany who posted a video about it being spyware."

Reasonable.

Incorrect, it is like saying a kid once played in the street and once got hurt, your basing your judgement on a "chance" that he will do it again and NOT that he did get hurt, your prediction is about what might happen not what happened in the past.

Nor I.

It is simple:  Do not require Origin (or any other client) for retail copies, and I will buy.

Don't you guys find it pathetic that your best argument is : "it doesn't have spyware anymore"

Now refocuse onto the new issue here:

I for one do not trust EA games to keep their client spyware free and I do not like them forcing me to use their client as well. I do not see a single good argument against in Origins favour.
