Hasn't this been a fun discussion?

I don't know why or what is it but it always this time of the night or morning as it is here when people start talking in a more calm manner and it becomes productive including more friendly.

There always seems to be a rise in tension and anger just before around this time as shown about 10-20 pages ago. When people are calm it allows people with [some] answers to be able to help others answer their concerns and let them know what is it they know. People don't all have the same concerns and if calm the ones that can be answered will get answered best some of us can give.

However it feels like some of the ones who are too full of anger look for people to take their anger out on and those of us who spent our time looking into what client does and what we do know get the brunt of it because we seem like the easy targets given we might not agree with those who are very angry.

It is this time of night/morning that things get more polite and less frustrating imho.

Us Aussies are finishing up work/school and/or are travelling home at this time.

Coincidence? I think not.

Haha you are probably quite right.

You have always been nice and friendly so I am sure if all you Aussies are like you then might be true.

If you need to have it installed to run the SP game, then you *have* to be starting it at the startup of the game. It may not be the full-blown Origin client, but it would be at least some application of it, or it wouldn't need it installed to start.

Unlike steam, it doesn't have to be running to play SP.  It validates your copy ONCE and then isn't required so long as you stay in SP mode.

It may be possible to sandbox the whole thing and prevent it from sending out anything. Programs like Sandboxie and the sandbox app from Avast! will probably do the job.

Well, then you can just dump the install and clean out any associated reg entries and won't have to worry about it again unless you decide to play MP.

If that's the case, then that's exactly what I'll do.

Hopefully since it is Monday and the work week is starting again this thread can get some of the repeated and important questions answered. They've had three days to let in sink into fans and to see what the pre-order data looks like.

Yes I can't help it sorry. I guess thats just the way I am. If you think my posts in here are that way you should stay away from my DA2 review. Pretty sure it's the longest one on BSN.

2) Is constant Origin connection required or is it a single one off authentication when the game is first installed. Is there also a limit to the number of installations available?
Mass Effect 3 will require a one time, single authorization for the single player game. There is no limit to the number of installs. Playing Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer will require a constant connection.

There you go Unit Alpha

Requires Avast Pro. Most people use the free version.

Yep. He says it is copyright circumvention and refuses to explain further. I dont think he fully understands what the program does.

There's still some question as to whether you will have to keep Origin installed after the first activation of the game. It seems to be referring to a constant connection a la Ubisoft's original DRM (which now has an offline mode) and seems to be avoiding the question of whether you will have to retain Origin to run the game afterward.

They're not gonna be back in the office for hours. In fact, in Edmonton, it's not even Monday yet.

I don't know any of these names. But if I did and they used something like Origin, I'd boycott them too.

You would have a hard job doing that right now even if wished to do so. Most if not all no longer exist.

No, they are all great studios that made great games, then they were bought out by EA. The next few titles were good, some were even great. Then they turned to sh** and basically sold out. I was especially sad with EALA making C&C4 and then everyone in the studio being laid off. C&C4 was such garbage.

Seems like this is happening to BW.

Well I didn't mean to imply right now at this very instant. I was going for "hopefully sometime today/Monday". I wouldn't expect any answer for another 12+ hours at best.

Installed.  Not running after initial verification, if it pans out to be like a couple of the other games I have on Origin.

Well, that's unfortunate. Chris, I can send you a copy of my preorder purchase confirmation if that's what you need to assure yourself that I'm not planning to use such a program in an illegal manner. <_<

So there is no difference. The point I'm trying to make is that as long as Origin is installed and it required to allow the game to start, that means there is some trigger in the game exe which would force a limited version of the program to open whenever you start the game.

Simply checking a reg entry to ensure that the game is legit due to a copy of Origin being installed is unlikely as it is very easy to create a reg entry that would still trigger as a valid copy.

I think he believes that the program can be used to do something
illegal with legitimate purchases. I am not sure exactly what, and it is very disrespectful that he ignores me and will not tell me what. Your perorder proof will not do much imo.

I've answered as much as I can for now personally, for things some of us managed to find answers for which some people might want answers to if they are not in the [no client or no sale] category of concerns but just Origin concerns and such.

So I think I'm going go bed.
