He can't help AT ALL don't you get it yet ? He is just a community liason guy at Bioware. It is just platitudes that is all we ever get from Bioware.

Chris, may or may not helping isn't the point. Bringing up the 'evidence' is the point. Chris Priestly isn't going to fix your problem alone in one post. It is going to be a process.

You are basing that on what exactly ? I have not seen any numbers regarding BF3's usage on the PC. In fact I haven't seen DICE or EA crow all that much with regard to the userbase on the PC. This is in direct contrast to the last Battlefield game on the PC when they just couldn't shut up about how successful the game had been on the PC.

Being on the game? I play it quite often there are x2 amount of servers for BF3 as there was for BFBC2 which was more popular than any of the others. Not to mention EA flat out said it was the most successful FPS launch for them on all platforms.

A process... that's rich.

Chris has absolutely no control over how Origin works, and the only thing he can do is show forum posts that give third party 'evidence' that EA will throw away. It's useless to try and convince EA to be user friendly, they aren't.

Just posting to let you know you lost a sale. I was going to pre-order the PC Collector's Edition Monday but I'm not going to now. Origin is garbage and no game is worth having it installed. If you change your mind and let physical copies run independently I'll pre-order it.

Edit:

What I find funny is I WANT  to spend $80 on this game and I'll want to buy the DLC  for it.  I should be the ideal customer for EA/Bioware because I don't pirate software and I don't support piracy, yet they put a barrier between myself and a game I want to legally own.  I'm sorry but that's just silly and extremely sad at the same time.

Process was meant in the term of "protesting" and supporting your protests with you know evidence. Not Chris Priestly starting a process, he has no control other than relaying information. What they do with it is irrelevent however defending your arguments on a public forum without evidence really does no one any good. What do you have to lose 5-10mins of your time, pasting 'evidence'? I'd bet you've spent equal amount of time complaining in this very thread.

I don't see how it is going to hurt in indulging him. Heck it might even get more customers fighting for your cause along side you. I just find it silly, people are raising hell about this, and when a rep directly asks for 'evidence' they can' even indulge him with the vast amounts of 'evidence' all over Google.

4) Will ME3 be available on Steam?
During initial release Mass Effect 3 will be available on Origin and a number of other 3rd party digital retailers, but not on Steam at this time. Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to deliver patches and other downloadable content.  We are intent on providing Mass Effect to players with the best possible experience no matter where they purchase or play their game, and are happy to partner with any download service that does not restrict our ability to connect directly with our consumers.

Goddamn PR speak makes me puke.  It's hilarious EA has absolutely no problem with the 360 and PS3 platforms and their methods of DLC yet has the gall to call Steam "restrictive."  EA can go ****** up a rope.  No need to buy their games when there are plenty of other ethical, smart and consumer friendly publishers and studios out there.  Bioware should have aligned themselves with an actually decent publisher.  What a waste of a studio.

It is pretty clear that come what may EA are going to try and shove Origin down our throats.  They do not care about our concerns or the issues we have.  There entire attitude towards Origin is "you will damn well like it and thank us for it",

Correction: That is your perception of their entire attitude towards Origin.

No, that's their entire attitude in a nutshell.

If it wasn't, then we wouldn't have to choose between installing Origin, and no ME3.

This doesn't disprove what I said.

Does seem like a shame that they didn't align themselves with a publisher like Zenimax instead (Bethesda's publisher). According to Carmack, he picked them instead of one of the larger ones because Zenimax tends to be a a bit more hands off. And obviously, as we've seen, their developers have proven to be quite successful, especially when it comes to RPGs.

Below are answers to the most commonly asked questions about Origin and Mass Effect 3. Thank you for your patience as we have worked to answer them.

1) Will Origin be a requirement to play all versions of Mass Effect 3? (Digital and/or from a retail brick and mortar store)
Yes, Origin is required for all PC editions of Mass Effect 3, physical or digital.

2) Is constant Origin connection required or is it a single one off authentication when the game is first installed. Is there also a limit to the number of installations available?
Mass Effect 3 will require a one time, single authorization for the single player game. There is no limit to the number of installs. Playing Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer will require a constant connection.

3) Is Origin required for the retail versions of the game?
Origin is required for the PC versions of Mass Effect 3, both physical and digital.

5) Is there an opt in or opt out clause for data collection?
Users will be allowed to opt-out of Mass Effect 3 data collection from inside the game.

6) I’ve seen reports that Origin is spyware.  Is this true?
Origin is not spyware, and does not use or install spyware on user’s machines.  In order to allow Origin to install games and their patches for everyone to use, Origin implements a permission change that results in Windows, not Origin, reviewing the filenames in the ProgramData/Origin folder.   This is an ordinary Windows function, not an information-gathering process.

7) Has the Origin EULA been updated following recent questions in Germany?
The German Origin EULA has been updated.  For more information, please review the Origin EULA here: http://www.ea.com/1/product-eulas.

8) Is there a double-opt in for Mass Effect 3 marketing emails for German residents?
Yes, we always adhere to the German requirement of a double opt-in standard for marketing emails.  Mass Effect 3 users must opt-in twice to receive these emails.

I appreciate everyone's patience on this topic. Please continue to ask questions about Mass Effect 3 and Origin and I will continue to try to get the answers for you.

QFT. It makes me laugh when I read on the EA site about their third party download site partnership about how, "We at EA believe in choice." but hey, let's not give anyone any choice and force feed our crap down their throat. How terribly hypocritical. And on the same subject, I remember how Bioware used to say how they wouldn't be controlled by EA. Wonder when these corporations will get it that we aren't all the morons they make us out to be.

why?
Does smarphones,  Youtube,  Apple,  Google+,  Twitter or Facebook have it in their End User Agreement that they can ban me for nothing and I cant do jack about it because if I did I'm no better than a pirate?
Honestly it isn't the simple scan of my system that worries me alone.
Its the scanning, the banhammer over the smallest things and the you can't act against them if you were wronged that worries me.

Yep.  I was always hoping Bioware would have stayed independent and become the next Valve except for rpgs.  Take Obsidian under their wing and basically dominate rpgs for the next however many years.

I'm 100% done with Bioware and EA and shall be deleting my accounts for both this site and EA (if that's even possible, haha).  I can't support restrictive publishers like EA.  I'd much rather support Activision because at least they're smart enough to get their game in every retail and digital outlet possible.  I also guess that's why Activision releases one game that outsells all EA titles in one year combined.  Dragon Age 2 being an unfinished, buggy mess of a game that was hyped up on lies and unfulfilled promises nudged me towards the ledge, EA being restrictive about ME3 is the final nudge over the ledge.

Take care BSN, you weird, hilarious group of people.  Kind of wish I'd be around for the meltdowns and hilarity when people see some of the creepy writing in ME3.  It shall be glorious!

I'm just going to throw this out here. I really don't think we live in a society that we can truly be safe from privacy intrusion. (Unless you live in a place that doesn't have access to the net)

This Origin thing while I understand the concerns. It seems like eventually every major company is doing stuff like this just to keep their IP. I don't think this sort of stuff will change in the coming years. Now what will this become of DRM and the like in 10 or 15? I don't know but, hopefully companies won't become to paranoid or more in the future and Licenses are more respected and consumers are more trustworthy with their products.

Haha, true!

I wonder if EA is really going to delete my EA/Origin account or just give me some lipservice and keep it "hidden" on their servers.

The only thing I have to say for that is, only really delete your account if you feel like some personal information or the like will concern you. But I'm assuming that's the reason.

No offence to Priestly but, their not avaliable 24/7. Oh and no I don't think they will do that. People have even made threads for that and the mods said do it yourself.
