You make no sense. You have another option...DON'T play the game. Do you walk into stores and announce that you are about to steal something, normally?

Where is the alternatives for the customer?

He already said it. Don't buy the damn game.

But, how in the hell can you then play the game? No option to be honest. This game is gonna be wicked.

Buy a console then if you hate Origin so much.

I said I will never every pay for any origin mandatory games, that is what i said. Furthermore, I will also get these mandatory titels via a not so legal way, if you no what i mean

Not an excuse.

You know who that comment was directed at. There are people who just want it on Steam or only want games sold exclusively on Steam even if it raised the prices considerably.

BS!
What prices do you mean? I bought all my games vai the internet (not steam) at best price! I get the game physical in my mailbox and then install it via steam. Besided, steam does have great bundles and discount if you pay attention.
You people keep forgetting that steam was here first, for a long long time with any competirors in sight and after all these year ea finally woke up and smelled the money of digital sales. No problem there, go right ahead ea and good luck with your new online business model, but dont, i repeat dont force me to use it because your also a distributor of games!

Okay first thank you for only quoting part of the discussion leaving out the important bits.

This has been discussed on Steam also.

My original statement was made in regards to competition and there have been many people (Check Steam forums and other places) that act like they don't want competition they just want Steam.

First off if Steam was the sole place to get content, they would not need to have those sales eveyone loves since, well, where else could they go if Steam is the only place in town.

Also please don't assume I have never seen those bundles or deals, that is just arrogant.

I have both console, but I wish to play it on my kickass dx11 pc. And the prices for console games are twice as much compaired to pc games.

I never said it was, but its an alternative that works for me. Again, if i could buy the game and put it on steam, then every body is happy. Now ea and bioware are happy if i should buy, but i will not be happy. Forgive me, if i put myself ahead of these cold companies.

Mass Effect 1, 2, or 3 doesn't support dx11 so I don't see the incentive here. Barring mods you're getting the same experience across all 3 platforms.

Buy a game that is worth your money and the terms of use are to your liking.

there was a reason i only took a part to quote. My whole reaction is meant for
Thoth_Amon. I you use common sense then steam can be a wonderful place to buy games for  a really cheap price. His argument is false and total bs. I never read your statement or comment and my reactions is not pointed at you.

Eh, that's not entirely true.  Sale prices drive their profits through the roof.  Ten year old games get bought during those sales and people buy games in bulk whether they need it or not.  They do sales better than any other video game storefront digitally, online or brick and mortar.

As Chris Priestly already stated, I think it may be a good idea to take up the fight to Valve.

I see hardly any resistance on their forum (http://forums.steamp...splay.php?f=498) - and perhaps it might be a good idea to start a petition there.

I'm pretty sure I bought my mass effect DLC directly from Bioware, while having Mass Effect 2 from Steam, so I'm going to call foul on that reasoning.

Yes, you did.  But Valve changed its terms of service so that DLC has to be available through Steam. ME2 and all its DLC predates that change, so it's still allowed on Steam.  Games still releasing DLC or that have yet to release at all have to comply with the new terms.  That's why DA2 got pulled.

I still don't think that's the full reason.  To quote Chris Priestly, EA and Bioware " are happy to partner with any download service that does not restrict our ability to connect directly with our consumers."

That is, the download service has to agree that origin will still be required to run the game that you bought from somewhere other than Origin.

They want to connect directly to you, via the Origin client.  If Valve doesn't want to let them do that, EA/Bioware considers it a deal breaker.

Just like many people consider requiring Origin to be a Deal-breaker.

And I don't want EA to connect with me.  I want to buy their product and use it.

Explain.  You can't call people babies and not back that up with some concrete facts.  Whatever you do, don't throw in "Bbbbut they did it with Half-Life 2!!" because that was eons ago in gaming years, they paid their dues and won customers back, and EA was right around the corner with their own digital service.  Origin isn't new, it's just sucked for nearly 7 years.

It's not a double standard when the two services have handled their business in completely different ways.

Im not jokeing here dude. No , i put myself ahead of these companies on everthing. And you are correct that I buy all other games legally that are not origin mandatory. I've been doing so for ever until origin showed up a couple of months ago. The only option I have been given here is dont buy it, then dont play it, dont pirate it if you dont lik origin, let the game slide if you dont like this and blabla and blabla. Useless alternative to barriers not even created by me. You guys are group of sheeps and ea is that dog that makes you go down the right path.

What wrong with only wanting to use 1 platform?
EA is also being hypocrisy and they have passed the hilarious station a long time ago. They have arrived at the station of sadness

Sooo as an X-box 360 gamer i have never really asked too much about Origin or I just didn't care enough. Can someone tell me why Origin being required to play ME3 is so outrageous and/or annoying?

Because in the past Origin was observed to scan files in the PC that it had no buissness to, it had a EULA that permited your personal information to be used as EA wanted and some people have lost trust that this may not be repeated at a later date. Also Origin has a bad history with forum bans that were sometimes wrongfully given and which prohibited people from playing their games. Last, but not least, EA is forcing us to instal the Origin application even if we have bought the physical copy of the game.

That's about it.

Agreed, and it's not just that we would have to install it for a retail purchase, but it is the fact that we would have to install it for retail purchase single player games which are played locally on personal machines.

This pretty much sums it up though.

There are three reasons for this:

1)  They're operating under the sad presumption that all customers are also potential pirates.
2)  They're not done trying to datamine your computer.
3)  They still want to push ads to your desktop whenever you're using your copy of the software they publish.

Pity Bioware and pity me, cos this means I am not going to pay 50 bucks for ME3, as I would be delighted to do, and I am not going to enjoy the game until a origin-free PC version is available (several months? some years?). And sadly, EA is becoming the new Ubisoft, a company whose games I decided years ago not playing again.

Ok, I just found this, and trying to read through 203 pages of people speaking their minds looking for one topic is killing me, so if this has been said, please let me know.

Do you HAVE to be online to play ME3 now?

For my PS3 this isn't an issue, but for my computer, I'm about to spend almost a year in a place where I don't have constant interent (and what net I have will be horribly slow, and shared with as many as 16 other people for the bandwidth). I just need to know if I need to cancel my PC preorder for ME3, as if I have to be online constantly to even play the game, I won't GET to play it.

Bioware? Anybody?

I told you what you can do but you're too narrow minded to know what an alternative is. Buy. The. Game. On. A. Console. The End.

Not ALL DRM is bad. Steam is one example. It doesnt restrict you besides forcing you to launch Steam every time you want to play MP and in some cases, SP. There is no always-connected-to-servers requirement or a download limit. Steam lets me play with my friends, gives me amazing discounts and backs up my gamesaves.

What you just described is a good example of bad DRM.  You have to launch and log into a seperate program, through which access to the software you bought and own is restricted.
