Doesn't deleting your account remove your ability to access the "free" DLC if you bought the DD version of ME2?

Im sure it might. But if people are really serious, (which I doubt right now since their full of rage.) and know their never going to go back to Bioware no matter what and EA. I'm sure they know the consequences.

Not sure if serious. An application can look on any drive connected to your PC, not just the one it's installed on.Adugan wrote...
Yay for having a spare hard drive that I can format and install Origin onto. GL scanning my PC that way.

If you choose to require Origin, and I hope you reconsider, then I'll not be buying Mass Effect 3.

I'm rather offended by the lie in the answer to question four, not that EA lie to us, but that they think we are stupid enough to swallow such a blatant lie.
Which part, steam has pulled or refused to host lots of games that have not agreed to their terms, and ME3 is available on other third party digitial distribution systems like gamersgate and direct2drive.

Cheers for the information. Sorry Chris, unless EA reconsiders putting the game on Steam and not restricting me to one digital download service (Direct2Drive, Impulse and GamersGate are all region restricted for me), I'll still be deleting it and washing my hands of everything EA related.

That expecting customers who purchase the game on Steam to be able to buy DLC on Steam is restrictive.
Oh I guess you could say it's not a lie, just cleverly worded to make it sound like they are saying it is restrictive to the customer, rather than EA's bank balance.

And btw, that in itself is one reason EA should not be allowed to handle distributing DLCs like they seem to want so badly to do with this decision.Sundance31us wrote...

It would have been vastly more convenient for me as a customer if the Digital Deluxe had worked like your typical GOTY version, where the extra bits and pieces are integrated into the game natively, and doesn't involve having to create a separate account to manually download and install them.

I'm just going to throw this out here. I really don't think we live in a society that we can truly be safe from privacy intrusion. (Unless you live in a place that doesn't have access to the net)
This Origin thing while I understand the concerns. It seems like eventually every major company is doing stuff like this just to keep their IP. I don't think this sort of stuff will change in the coming years. Now what will this become of DRM and the like in 10 or 15? I don't know but, hopefully companies won't become to paranoid or more in the future and Licenses are more respected and consumers are more trustworthy with their products.
Just for thoughts. Again.

Um, it says straight out that it is restrictive to developers.

In all fairness to EA steam is rather restrictive with its dlc practices because the only way to access it is supposed to be through steam itself. The major conflict was when BW released Legacy for DA2 trhough the in-game store and steam pulled it down. It's not just a EA problem though, Mojang/Notch, the creator of Minecraft, can't get his game on steam even though it's selling a ton of copies because he wanted to release all kinds of small crazy dlc as he came up with it, which would have to wait while steam approved it and all that stuff.
