@Stanley Woo

We seriously want no part of what Balhaar is saying, so don't kill the thread simply because of him please. :)

Well, anyone can see that this thread is, for the most part, rational - though passionate - discussion. I doubt any mod would close it down, as the sensible thing to do would simply be to remove the offending parties.

Or, you know, give us actual answers. ;)

Seriously now GTFO. You have now crossed the line into telling people to steal Biowares hard work.

accutually i am given them an option to still play the game without have to use origin. If EA isnt given this to us, I might as well help a few peeps out here.

Not sure if it's been answered, and I'm not willing to sift through 220-something pages to see it, but does ME3 require you to insert the disc into the DVD drive to play?

No. Installation of Origin and verification through Origin is required instead of a disc-check.

Cool, so I install it, authenticate it through Origin, then I can play without ever running Origin again? Sounds fine by me.

Alright, I just saved 60$, I won't buy this game that requires Origin. Goodbye Bioware.

Thanks for the replys, I was hoping I could install and authorize the game on a friend's computer (he installed Origin for BF3) and then move the game, files and everything, to mine and just play the singleplayer. But if Origin is like Steam and you need the the client to run the games, that could be a bit of a problem. Does anyone here know if that's the case?

For now, yes, you need Origin to even run the SP game.

Chris' post clearly says no internet connection is required to run or play single player...That means no Origin is required to run the SP portion game, since you have to log in through Origin, and for that, you need an active internet connection.

In theory the answer is no because of the fact comes with Origin. With Origin registering your games on the client allows you to obtain a digital version of the game to download and install instead of using the CD. Aswell as what others have also said.

Why? I didn't say anything wrong. Chris' post clearly says we do not need an online connection to play. That means no Origin, since Origin requires you to have an active online connection.

Not sure if you need to run Origin in the background or not for SP, but you probably won't need the DVD ever again for playing.

Nop. No one seems to be doing anything about it

*sad-face*

Okay, I'll get on that in an hour or two, after I've watched some TV, if no-one else has done it. :)

Bioware doesn't allow petitions nor they look at them.

It's a waste of time.

I wasn't asking about the digital version, I was asking if, by any chance, I can install from DVD, and never use Origin nor the disc again to play single player? Or is that impossible, and considered piracy?

To run Origin in the background, you need an internet connection, thus, that would contradict the entire concept of "You don't need to be connected to the internet to play single player".

Not trying to fan flames but...

That not true. Steam's policy/terms from what other people have linked direct show that Valve have put in clause stating that all DLC provided by EA if sold on Steam cannot be undercut by prices on Origin.
Errr... Where does it say that? Source please. Posted Image
EA has claimed that there is a problem with STEAM TOS, specifically that there is an issue with in-game marketplaces to purchase DLC (hence the removal of DA2...).  Source.

Our friend Gabe, on the other hand, remains non-specific.  Making similar statements as EA, but neither side is backing down.  Source.

(I googled for sources, you can do the same if you dont trust mine)

EA wants to pursue every avenue to get DLC customers and Valve/Steam TOS doesn't allow that specific in-game avenue.  They (EA) have basically chosen their right to make DLC available in an in-game market place over making it available via STEAM.
Edit
I'd also be willing to bet that there was someone in the meeting going, "Hey, this is the perfect opportunity for us to add Origin to ME3."

No no, Origin has just like Steam an offline mode. It'll just run as a process in the background. If you know Steam - it's the same.

That I do not know until the game actually comes out or Bioware if already know yet, depends on what installation options on the disc I suppose akin to full install so can play from HDD or whether requires data to be loaded from DVD. As for does if it does disc checks I do not [think] it does.

and right at the moment EA launcher it origin platform, ea doesnt like the TOS any more. Sure, you keep telling yourself that EA. It is not going to work!

I don't think you mean the bolded part, since a petition hosted off-site cannot be removed by BioWare.

Your other two points are debatable, I would say.

Hiding it? It's open and running lively for 220 pages now, I don't see how not stickying this is 'hiding' it.
On principle I wouldn't sticky this thread either, and that's not because I think the discussion is invalid at it's core; I do think this thread is way too muddy with users spouting their (often unrelated) opinion about things here.
