Just saying, I'm a hardcore Xbox 360 gamer does that mean I have to put up with Origin or what just to play?

If any bioware/EA employee ever reads this thread, please please just make an opt out for origin datamining, not just me3, then we will support it wholeheartedly, there is no reason whatsoever to have a datamine function, if its for marketing purposes then it should be up to us to decide whether we will allow you to use our data, we shouldent be forced into it. Especially when console users dont have to, the PC audience isnt exactly your largest user base.

I doubt it.
Unlike PC they don't really force the whole internet activation crap on Xboxers/PS3ers. Not yet anyway.

For those who are wary of what Origin might scan: Will using Sandboxie, firewall settings, password protecting folders, etc, for privacy/security, be considered as an attempt to circumvent DRM?Chris Priestly wrote...
I appreciate everyone's patience on this topic. Please continue to ask questions about Mass Effect 3 and Origin and I will continue to try to get the answers for you.

Well, if EA wants to lose hundreds of thousands, if not potentially million(s) of Steam sales, they're free to do it. However, forcing Origin on copies sole everywhere else, is a whole different thingAlanosborn1991 wrote...

As long as Microsoft and Sony are the master of their own consoles, EA will have nothing to say on those platforms.Ryzaki wrote...

Maybe they'll even pull a Battlefield 3 and make us go through Origin that leads to site which serves as you main menu. Awesome...

Yes, because I don't want to share some informations. As simple is that.felipejiraya wrote...
Seriously there's people that will not play the PC version only because of Origin?
Just because the program picks some information on your PC?
I'm fine with this but every major company today gathers "illegal" information from their users: Facebook, Microsoft, Google...even information you send from your cellphone is intercepted somewhere.
If I become paranoid about all this stuff I would live in a cave right now.

This thread must be cleaned, closed and stickied, as it is derailing drastically.
Tbh, I don't know why they lock these threads. All that happens is people make more. Forcing Origin/No release on Steam are issues for us, and continual locking of threads isn't going to make the issues go away. It just annoys people.

I fail to see how that's circumventing DRM personally.

I wouldn't say millions. Probably like 75,000-100,000 customers still a decent chunk of change though. However if they have millions buying their DLC direct from them it probably curbs the loss.
I thought they updated the EULA in August that prevented them from giving our your information to anyone but EA.

Of course not. EA wants free marketing data and they won't stop unless they're forced like in GermanyRyzaki wrote...
Wait...you can't opt out of the data collection in general?
What I don't understand is why someone else doesn't force them too? Why hasn't this been a big issue in the US? Isn't there supposed to be laws against this or something?

As if the US gov't really cares. I'd be surprised if they weren't doing things like this themselves.

The sad thing is that this will have a negligible impact on sales. Most people don't give a damn, which is why companies get away with this BS.

All I want to know is if you can uninstall Origin after you authenticate your game and still play single player. I have no interest in multiplayer so that is not a concern.
To Chris Priestly:
1) If we do not intend to use multiplayer, can we uninstall Origin after completing one time single authorization for the single player game?
2) Also, will I have to install Origin EVERY TIME I install Mass Effect 3, or after one time single authorization I will no longer have to install Origin ever again?

Sadly.
Guess its time to get a seperate comp for gaming.
Though frankly I find the whole "you must download X to your comp to play the game." far more irritating than any datamining. Why if I buy a BOXED copy of the game have to waste time downloading a DD service that I'll NEVER USE?

It has more issues than just the datamining. That's my main concern, but there are others that are more important to other people. Origin is a mess, and it's not coming near my computer.
