If they did change it to that. It is no different than Steam, Battlenet, etc. Except well maybe those organizations have fortified themselves to protect from hackers probably x100 better than EA.

I fail to see how that's circumventing DRM personally.

Based on my assumption that Origin software also serves as a form of DRM, not only for the game, but for the DLC as well. The point being that people want to be secure and protect privacy without inadvertantly running into other problems because they accidently affected DRM.

And if Origin software is a form of DRM, it may create issues, such as regional locks, etc. Nothing that affects me, but may be of concern to others.

This thread has been surprisingly mild. At least there is an opt out. Now just fix Origin's appetite for memory.

There's no op-out. That's just for ME3 saves data, same thing as in ME2. There's no opt-out from data-mining Orign does everywhere else

No option for opting out beyond ME3? Are you sure about that?

The you can't sue us part of the EULA is meh. I can live with the datamining if they don't outsource it. However if they outsource something they shouldn't, I waived my legal rights to sue the hell out of them.

DId you even read the link you posted? It's an opt-out from having EA share your data with all their BFFs. This is NOT about opting-out from EA mining your data in the first place.

With ME3 not being on Steam it loses millions of customers I bet.

I wouldn't say millions. Probably like 75,000-100,000 customers still a decent chunk of change though. However if they have millions buying their DLC direct from them it probably curbs the loss.

I thought they updated the EULA in August that prevented them from giving our your information to anyone but EA.

It already has cost some, look at the differnce between preorders in the States alone just from rumors about Origin http://www.vgchartz.com/preorders//

450k for 360, 100k for PS3, and 72k for PC.

I agreed with your statement about DLC.

To Chris Priestly:

1) If we do not intend to use multiplayer, can we uninstall Origin after completing one time single authorization for the single player game?

2) Also, will I have to install Origin EVERY TIME I install Mass Effect 3, or after one time single authorization I will no longer have to install Origin ever again?

Too true...

FFS I would get the damn thing for Xbox if I had a better TV worthy of ME3.
But indeed, using protection is always an option.

Or as someone said in the previous &#%¤ Origin thread "if Origin is required from now on, that means all my future EA games will be free, thanks EA!".

I'd imagine you can't Isaac. You can run it in offline mode or not on at all. But the game will be installed into the Origin folder most likely.

For example; I redeemed Dragon Age 2 there incase I decided to play it again, and I could just get it off of there digitally. It auto downloaded or something one night, and then a month or two down the line, I unistalled Origin and it unistalled Dragon Age 2 as well.

Thirding this.  I am not opting in for Origin datamining.  If I can't kill it after ME3 is installed... well as much as an inconvience it is there is this box that is filled with sand.

Actually, up until Battlefield 3, you could do this. BF3 forces Origin to be installed, open and running, if you want to play. People are rightfully curious whether ME3 will be like BF3, or, Say, ME2.
