Even "I can't sticky it, because I lost my sticky program" would be more convincing.

Jep. I bought 50 bucks worth of games during its Holiday Sale. I'm settled for the next coming months.

And CDPR got hosed and if they continue to get hosed by tons of PC gamers who demonstrate that they can't be given the benefit of the doubt they are going to buckle and start using drm as well.

They got hosed? The Witcher 2 sold better than Dragon Age II on the PC. It also sold better than some high profile console exclusives like inFAMOUS 2.

Exactly. Plus CDPR has better business practices such as not having forced spyware installation, and small things such as charging 50 bucks for a new game instead of 60. Never felt as hosed as when I spent more money for DA2 than TW2 and got a far lower quality off a game.

And Priestly, with all due respect, you should just stick to answering questions that we have in this thread. Every other post just makes you and Bioware look worse, with all the PR answers and blatent untruths.

EA are disgusting for their business methods, they say they want to 'connect to consumers' but they're not even listening to what platform we want to play the game on.

EA won't be getting a penny from me until the game is on Steam.

And not a penny from me until it's on the Atari 2600

This topic needs to be stickied as it confirms what DRM the game will use. This is important consumer information and every potential buyer of ME3 has to know about it BEFORE they buy the game,

Chris can we get answers on these questions? It's very importand to us

1) If we do not intend to use multiplayer, can we uninstall Origin after completing one time single authorization for the single player game?

2) Also, will I have to install Origin EVERY TIME I install Mass Effect 3, or after one time single authorization I will no longer have to install Origin ever again?

I believe this is a question he brought up to their origin team and is still wating for an answer.

I hope the answer is yes. I was gonna try out multiplayer but that can go to hell now.

Don't worry. Come monday, every game platform around the world will have picked up the news.

And I look forward to the sh..storm especially in Europe, since we are used to defend our privacy with bared teeth - even against government agencies.

Avoiding the main point there, that EA has the right to their greed just as Valve does(and if you don't believe Valve is trying to convert you just look at the pages of ads you get after closing any game on Steam).

Okay... Pages of ads? Yup, Steam wants you to buy games, not pirate them. It just happens they want you to buy from Steam. Got me there.

As for missing the point...

Yes, EA can do what they like with their DLC.

But I am within my rights to complain that what they're doing is anti-competitive and monopolistic.

In short, we're both right. :)

I agree, just so long as you're willing to agree that Valve is feeling the same way, I love Valve, I have literally over 100 games on Steam and it's running at all times, but I also can look at EA and say they're not as bad as Activision, and I can't block both of the largest publishers from my money(I will be making one acception for Activision in Prototype 2, but that's because I loved the first one).

Anyway I'm getting ME3 on 360, but I am also a PC player and just wanted to chime in.

I'm guessing but it would make sense to me that every time you install the game you would need to install origin even if answer to first question is what you want to hear. Simply because given fresh install it would want to check that you have registered/activated it before then maybe like your first question if answer to that is answer you wanted you could probably uninstall origin again. However I do not think you will get your answer you want because I think origin will be used to check for updates and patches too.

This is a sad day for gaming. Once again, the big corporate publisher is screwing the paying customer with it's draconian rules. Wich in turn will of course just motivate even more people to pirate their products. And it's mostly people that are happy to pay for the game to support the developers. We all know where this raod leads, because we have gone through it a hundered times over.
Don't these people ever learn? In the last decade alone, harsher DRM's almost always resulted in more piracy. The very thing they were trying to prevent. And this is no different, in fact it's even worse.
I think Mass Effect 3 will be the last game I ever buy with the EA logo on it. As much as I like BioWare and a few other EA games, I will not support a company with such distasteful attitude towards it's customers.

No they won't, because they know DRM doesn't work, thats the bottom line. EA is simply doing what Valve started - securing customer loyalty. But I prefer CDPR's way of securing customer loyalty as it doesn't treat me like a criminal.

Sales figures have nothing to do with it. TW2 was so consumer friendly that so many people took advantage of it that CDPR had to try ex post facto legal recourse. It's very possible that next time they may just opt for a form of DRM .

We had to log into EA in ME2 for DLC verification.. the same for ME3 DLC and MP, exactly as could have been expected. EA login.. which was linked to your BSN and Bioware site login, how did this change ANYTHING, aside from the scared ramblings of people afraid they might be sued down to their last pair of socks for the amount of pirated stuff they have on their computer.

Exactly. When I bought TW2, I felt like I bought a game. Like the old times of buying a game and playing it. I didn't feel like I needed a law degree and a course in IT to play it.

Sales figures have everything to do with it. When their DRM free game vastly outperformed a competitor with DRM in retail why exactly would they insist on DRM? Especially after Ubisoft almost pulled out of the PC industry entirely due to their DRM backfiring.

Not putting the game on Steam is literally the worst decision I have ever seen a game company make, ever. The folks at EA are short-sighted, greedy, and resorting to desperate measures to push their floundering service. If you believe their claim that this is about Steam's "restrictive terms of service" then you are an idiot.

I live in Europe too and it is not going to be as big a s***storm as you believe it will be. It will still be the biggest s***storm on BSN and BSN users because every single thing on here seems to create s***storms for people from liara figurines, femshep, origin, homosexual interactions in games and more. BSN has the highest population of drama queens and a few people who actually have ability to follow through with their threats of not buying but those are very few even when many proclaim to do so; and thats the problem on BSN when everyone screams "won't buy this or that" or "cancelled this or that" is because they can only cry wolf so many times before they won't be taken as seriously (of which they have already cried it so many times that it's becoming nothing more than sad joke to me personally how many proclaiming it but do not follow through) especially given the vast amount who are bark but no bite which gives the ones who do stick to their word less credability.

It didn't require me to install anything beyond the game itself. Why exactly should I have to fill up my computer with useless bloatware?

Not that I agree with how they locked DLC. Let me make that very clear.
