So that basically just leaves the 360 version as a viable option, because god knows the PS3 port of ME2 was garbage. Hurray for disc swapping!

Close to zero. All we can hope for, really, is for them to make Origin optional. Like Kingdoms of Amalur for example.

Isn't it on one disc or was that an older build? Disc swapping is no big deal. God forbid we get up and walk a few feet.

Seriously Bioware this really dissapoints me. Using your position to force me to get an origin account?
Is this really the way to treat loyal fans that has bought and loved pretty much every one of your games, especially the Mass Effect series?
I have played both games on Steam and have my entire catalogue of games on Steam. I dont buy games physically anymore and do not want to have a million different launcher programs.
I will probably play ME3 anyway but there is no way im buying it. I will wait until friends have played through it on the PS3 and borrow it, but you are not getting any more money from me!

Sh*t on years of development time why don't you. Those artists did all that so you could adopt such an attitude over something like needing to register the game through Origin and  consequently crap all over their work I'm sure.
Good job, hope you're proud of that attitude, I wouldn't be.

I love how people working to create a product that they hope to sell for profit has become a noble cause in the eyes of some people.

You're like a consumer advocate from the Bizarro world. "The company said its good for them, so by definition its good for everyone. No don't worry about that bundled software that scans your computer for information that really ought to be private and has monetary value. They have a good reason for making that obligatory. They've told us so themselves."

Because after all how dare anybody be suspicious of those self-sacrificing coders, working away for the good of all mankind right?

It won't get removed. However, major backlash in Germany forced EA to change the EULA. They alerted the mainstream press to blow it all over the country, they stormed Amazon.de rating BF3 with 1 star etc.

I have a legitimate Question:

2) Is constant Origin connection required or is it a single one off authentication when the game is first installed. Is there also a limit to the number of installations available?
Mass Effect 3 will require a one time, single authorization for the single player game. There is no limit to the number of installs. Playing Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer will require a constant connection.

Means That If i don't play it online I don't have to start it up with origin ever again right?

Your missing the point that most of these people who will end up pirating the game are normally AGAINST pirating and would gladly give their money for quality products.

So, they're hypocrites then?  Anti-pirating so long as it's convenient?

Yeah....keep bending over for EA buddy <_<

Easy solution: Don't buy it.

That doesn't give you the right to get it illegally. And don't try to justify that. There's no justification for it.

Yeah, we'll probably end up with something like what happened to BF3 on the german amazon. Shame, but neither unexpected nor completely undeserved on EA's part.

the funny part is that this link showed me a recension that said "Spiel ist eines der besten das je erschienen ist. Das mit Origin wurde gefixed also endlich die verdienten 5 Sterne", which essentially says how awesome the game is after origin has been fixed now. huh, go figure.

and yes, i saw the 3k+ people giving it a 1/5 rating

That is funny.

Holy ****!

And this is one of the actions German players took to succesfully force EA to change the EULA there. If you look at the comments, you don't even need to know German. It's 99% "origin origin origin"

Nice.

This is a damn shame. If only origin was optional. :(

We don't know. We've asked time and time again about it in this thread, still no answer.

I wonder what Ottemis thinks of buying a legal copy but then cracking it so that it does no longer require Origin...

Congratulations on turning a 14 yr hardcore fan of Bioware who has bought every game and almost all extras to pirating. Cheers.

Don't act like they're making you do anything.  You pirate because you choose to pirate, period. You have every right to refuse to buy the game if you disagree with EA's conditions, but that doesn't mean you're entitled to it for free.

Agree with this. I hate it when people blame their actions on others' decisions

That's how single player games work right now.  I even uninstalled Origin and my games still work.

I can understand EA's policy. They want to push Origin... but they understand what PC gamers actually want?
I have my friends on STEAM. Is where I play PC games, and I want to keep that way. I don't like Origin.

ME3 not on STEAM is a bad decision, very bad.

The answer is probably 'Yes, you have to keep Origin active during single player despite not using an internet connection'. Steam is required for Dragon Age 2 and Skyrim. ME3 and Origin are probably going to be much the same.

I think it's safe to say for most people here, we're worried that might not be the case. BF3 tied its single player on Origin's browser. Many Steam games already tied the games' .exe to Steam itself. No guarantee about ME3 at the moment.

Agreed. My line is the third bloatware crap.

NOT ONE MORE I SAY NOT ONE DAMN MORE!

If you had come before GFWL Origin I might've accepted you but now? Hell to the no. I'm done putting bloatware on my comp. DONE.

I barely meet half way maxed requirements as it is and I'm not knocking down the settings for damn bloatware.

Implying nothing of the kind.  I'm saying they have no right to pirate the game.  If they don't like Origin, then they don't get to play it.  Does it suck? Yeah.  Too damn bad.

Personally, I thnk the Penny Arcade stance is the best in this instance.

Eh, I already have to have Origin running to play BF3, this doesn't bother me at all. It would be more convenient to have it on Steam, but I'm not going to lose any hair over it.
