I salute you.

Thank you. I just hope other people as disaffected as I am do the same thing so EA/BioWare feels it.

4) Will ME3 be available on Steam?
During initial release Mass Effect 3 will be available on Origin and a number of other 3rd party digital retailers, but not on Steam at this time. Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to deliver patches and other downloadable content.  We are intent on providing Mass Effect to players with the best possible experience no matter where they purchase or play their game, and are happy to partner with any download service that does not restrict our ability to connect directly with our consumers.

Translation.

We will not be releasing Mass Effect 3 on Steam because then how would we, you know, force Origin on you? Also gold, lots and lots of gold.

That made me giggle. :)

Well, since they believe PC piracy to be rampant, they may consider the worst-case scenario to be people switching to console gaming, which would still be a win.

Yet when Ubisoft's PC sales plummeted 90% after the introduction of all their amazing anti-piracy ideas, there was no corresponding lift in console sales. Conclusion? Many people simply stopped buying Ubisoft games AT ALL.

Evidence to back this up? It seems that a lot of people on here are using the old "EA is evil, rEApers oh no" lines, including you, but aren't looking at the reality of the situation. I'm no fan of EA, and I was skeptical of it at first, but after reading up on the whole controversy it doesn't seem like its as bad as you guys are making it out to be. And to answer your outrageous claim above, when I was undecided on buying me3 for the pc, I purchased the CE on the 360. Not everyone who has a pc has a console, but for those who do, don't kid yourself if you think they won't find an alternative platform to finish the story. I was prepared to play it on an inferior 30 FPS console because I was unsure about origin. Now I am buying mass 3 for the pc as well. I'll have the entire trilogy for both pc and Xbox, including dlc. Origin is no different from steam, with the exception of registered users. The reason they pulled from steam was dlc distribution, steam wanted a cut of the dlc sales, EA didn't want them to  if you would stop whining about origin and take the time to look, you'd see that there are other digital distribution services that still have me3. They don't have the same terms on dlc as steam does. So let's put on our big boy, and girl, pants on and stop harping on this issue. We have an answer, it's not going to change.  If you don't want to buy mass3 because of it, then on well. You're the one missing out on the experience, and don't take this too harshly, but EA won't be missing you.

I'm really surprised that the whole internet isn't in rage. Meaning this isn't on other websites. Probably safe, the internet would EXPLODE.

So does that mean if I only play single player, I can install ME3, and then uninstall Origin, then play single player?

Why do we need a program for the game?

Really?

This has been my issue with Steam, Origin, whatever. Why when we buy a game, can't we just get the damn game.

Why do we need SOMETHING else.

Are you trying to push people from the PC market? Are you trying to force them to go to console?

Origin, Steam, Windows Live - they all make life more difficult than they need to be.

Please. Stop.

huh... seems terrible in comparison to the german one, which says that basicly whenever i desire i can write EA an email in which i revoke their right to datamine me. in addition to that, unless i explicitly allow them to sell the data collected on my computer, they do not have the right to give it to third parties.

Give it time. There's likely a reason they only announced this on a Friday evening/afternoon, hoping it wouldn't get big exposure  due to the weekend.

I even expected facebook and twitter to have a response. We all know how those unregulated people are.

Chances are, you can't do that. EA didn't force Origin on us just so we can bypass it that easily. Some games on Steam has their .exe file tied to Steam itself, i.e. to even get the game running, it will first detect if Steam is running. I have a hunch ME3's exe file must run alongside Origin.

Nah, according to his twitter he's just about to watch the Oilers game:

Also Origin required for ME3 does not surprise me...we all knew it was coming, considering there hasn't been any sort of news between Steam and EA.

Yes it is. Steam gives you opt-out option from data mining. Origin DOES NOT. Period. You can't play Origin games unless you allow EA to mine your computer for data. You CAN play Steam games even if you don't allow Valve to mine your computer for data.

I'd wager <10% chance of that being possible.

I doubt it will get 'big' exposure at least not enough to significantly change Origin.
