TL;DR: Like OP.
If someone was just lurking around and wouldn't bother reading my entire post, it could be summarized to being very much like your post, I agreed with what you wrote. I'll change it so it won't be as confusing.

In fact, the difficulty lvl's should be named something like this.
Beyond shameful
Uber shameful
Super shameful
Shameful
Semi-shameful
Insanity

Drunken Insanity (thats when you get drunk, then try and play it on insanity. A REAL difficulty mode made for manly men)
I think I actually did that once in ME2, with my Sentinel run. I only realized afterwards when I went to pickup where I had left off, and I had a Keanu "whoa" moment, seeing that I some how progressed ahead through a few missions!
I've done the same with ME1, Dead Space a few times, and maybe Bioshock once

Good man! Being drunk also makes the extreme difficulty more bearable I find!
(Though it does have it's down side, Dark Souls has currently turned me into an alcoholic)

ME1s insanity is frustrating till you reach proper level.
ME2s insanity makes some of the fights more enjoyable, and some of them even hard if you are a beginner.
so I guess ME3s insanity will make the game ANY fun.
