If its better than ME2 in just about every way, as one would expect it to be, and its story delivers a satisfying conclusion, than I have no doubt IGN wouldn't hesitate to give it a 10/10.

Dont know, but we all know that the PS3 version will be rated higher because of the blatant bias on their part.

I'd say Mass Effect deserved an 8/10 but got about 9.5 because high profile mainstream devs have positive score modifiers because of popularity. If it's not so good then EA are rich enough to control the damage so that they can give IGN some money. Dragon Age II for example, a game which was clearly bad got an average of 9/10 from all reviewers when it would have been closer to a 6.

Considering IGN gives everything 9s and 10s, I'd guess a 9 or a 10.

Is there anything actually concrete as to why IGN is so terrible? I mean, something that isn't total bandwagon idiot hatred?

Every single article I've seen (Being the entire first 2 pages of Google, won't bother going any farther) is because "They gave X game a Y! Dey iz bad revewer!" or "They gave X a 9 but gave Y an 8.5! Dey iz bad revewer!"

edit: I forgot to add "Hilary Goldstein sux! Dey is bad revewer!"

Or 8.x I don't get why they would rate Mass Effect higher than ME2 tbh unless they have some 'it's no rpg anymore' bias which doesn't really say much about whether the game as such is good or not.
