I draw the line at vanity items, but as long as there's story elements I'm fine. I'd also purchase "talent/spell" packs that just add more abilities. I would even consider a "armour pack" that adds more models for basic armours. (Specifically some more light armour options) but I won't buy a "Get Duncan's armour set with awesome stats!" because it would take all of 5 minutes to mod that in myself.

New story line or NPC character mod - like for Alistair, Morrigan... etc.

As DLC is in its infancy..and new to revenue generating.

1.)Must be as excellent as the main component.

2.)And logistically.

If I pay 50 dollars for a game, and a DLC is 15.00

The scope should be in proportion to initial cost:)

I'm interested in DLC that brings more fighting, more character progression options (talents, skills, etc), and really anything of substance that extends the game.

Though i have to be careful, BW/EA putting out $5-7 DLC packs makes me more likely to buy than just a straight $30 expansion.

Although, who am I kidding? I'd buy expansions if they came out in a heartbeat.

i am very strictly going to compare the content level vs price to that of the game itself, or to the ratios id expect in an expansion pack. if i am not satisfied by the comparison i will not buy it no matter what's in it. even if i am satisfied, i may not buy it until they have a compilation pack out that is available in retail stores.

Ugh, this isn't a thread to whine about DLC. This is a thread to let Bioware know what kind of things you want to see in DLC.

i didnt complain about a [cursed] thing. i explained what i would and wouldnt consider paying for. how about not introducing flames to a thread that has thus far  been reasonable and civil, immature jack [donkey].

"Return to you-know-where", a large, relatively inexpensive adventure seeing the party reclaiming the village from the Darkspawn.

Being able to re-use the existing village map should cut down on development costs significantly. Opening up access to the buildings, including an extensive network of crypts under the chapel, should be relatively inexpensive in terms of art & design time. When the players have fought their way into the crypts, the final boss summons a new wave of darkspawn so the party has to then fight their way out again. It's all about offering value for money, I think.

edit - to remove spoiler. Although frankly, if you recognise the name you know what is coming.

I'd like content that fleshed out a few of the "prestige classes" (Templar, Bloodmage etc.) and made them feel more different from the main classes. I'd really like it if you could attend templar (or Blood mage etc.) training as a side quest really making you feel part of that class and fleshing out their history and worldview. I'd like something similar for joining the Grey Wardens as I've yet to really feel like being a grey warden matters (I haven't completed the game)

To me it depends on what there plans are for the Dragon Age series. If the next game is going to have a new "cast" I want more resolution to this story. If DA:O 2 is going to feature the same characters I want DLC that will lead us into the next plot. Some side quest/item DLC is ok too as it can be used to elaborate on the existing plot. I just don't want to see ALL side quest/get your novelty item here type stuff.

I'll toss my vote into the hat of quest and story expanding DLC. Perhaps DLC directly relating to one of our party members, something that either expands the gameworld or gives greater weight to already defined concepts. Perhaps WK, and RtO could be seen in this light, but as it stands I have no current plan to purchase either based on player reviews of WK and my current perception of RtO, that could change if what I read after release sounds promising. (Of course I'm still knee deep in my first playthrough so I'm not exactly hankering for more DA atm, who knows how I'll feel when I feel the need to for new DA Image IPB .) I will never pay for what was described above as vanity content. I play Bioware games for detailed story and amazingly interesting NPC interactions, adding a "really cool" sword does not add to my enjoyment of the game, particularly when IMO there are already "really cool" swords to use.

That said I am not one of the folks opposed to DLC, as I said before just opposed to "bad" DLC. Also I still do not understand the folks who are outraged that the DLC exists and Bioware is charging money for it. DAO delivers a game of uncomparable quality and quantity, the lack of any piece of DLC in no way detracts from the game. Why should anyone care if Bioware provides DLC and people pay for it? It would only be reasonable to have issue if the delivered game was lacking in such a way that the purchase of DLC was required to make the game playable and or enjoyable. I can't imagine anyone making that claim, particularly when so many people are complaining about the quality of DLC that has been put forward.

On one more side note: EASY WITH THE SPOILERS UP THERE!!! Image IPB Sorry, but as I said above only on my first playthrough and would rather not have read a few things up there. Eight month old, wife, job, friends, family, I only get to play DAO for about eight-ten hours a week so not exactly close to the finale yet.

There are a whole bunch of things I'd be interested in:

I'm most interested in expansion packs. Extend the story beyond the current ending, increase the level cap and add new skills, talents and spells to go along with the higher levels.

I'm also interested in new classes with new origins. I loved to play as a monk in NWN for example.

A prologue focusing on Duncan and his life before the events of DA would be excellent as well. That character has so much more to give. Hell, a prologue for any of the party members would be neat.

I'd buy DLC that did nothing but add new skills, talents and spells.

Something with 5+ hours of game play or I won't bother with it. I know that it's not a lot of money but there's something about companies that try to nickel and dime me to death that just bugs the hell out of me; always has and probably always will.

... and the idea of paying for an item in a game where you can mod everything just seems absurd, to put it mildly.

what i like to see and spend money for:

- longer quest lines, with a rich story, political intrigues etc.
- plot twists !!
- i want to spend 20 € for longer and deeper content, then 5 € for one hour
- quest, campaigns after the original campaign
- dialogue based questlines

what i don't like to see is:

- item grinding content :( , what is the advantage in getting new weapon ??? this is not an MMO, what can i do with better equipment, when the main story is over ? i find there is no need for this and better spending men power in other ways
- only combat content ... boring

Good DLC (for me)"

1. New questlines that tie loosely into the primary story (Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagar are good examples), but are of decent length (WK too short). I want to see quests that are as long as the 4 Big treaty quests in DA:O (Broken Circle, Paragon of her Kind, Redcliffe, etc.). That's the kind of length I want to see.

2. New specializations/talents. I think a short DLC like Warden's Keep would be worth the money, if you got a nice new specialization out of it. I doubt a whole new class would be viable, though.

3. Small, standalone campaigns, with new characters. Flesh out Ferelden and its people. Maybe even cross paths with aspects of the main game, without actually running into the main party (except maybe as a quick cameo with some characters before they join the main story)..

Bad DLC:

1. Items. Yeah, I'm not a fan of DLC that's only purpose is to add phat lewt. I'm already wary of the upcoming Ostagar DLC, hoping it isn't just a short romp of pure combat to pick up the King's armor. And if DLC does add new gear, I'd rather it just have a new art style, than be overpowered.

Perhaps a small town with some side-quest (3-5) + buffed weapons, armor and items.

You know Lothering? something similiar and then instead charge 800+ marketpoints for it.

So either some creepy town, or another refugee town.

I haven't sifted through all of the threads pertaining to DLC (Lord knows none of us have that amount of time Image IPB ) but this had definatley been one of the more constructive threads I've seen.  I hope the type of feedback in this thread is helpful to the Bioware staff who are interested in what fans would be happy to pay for in terms of DLC.

New characters with full voice and party interaction as well as a personal quest would get me to purchase downloadable content.  Particularly female characters with at least 2 of them being a mage and a rogue.  To flesh it out a bit more, this is exactly what I would like to see in terms of new characters.

1 Female Warrior - Neutral aligned (make 2 with one being good one being evil if neutral is not possible) [maybe a dwarf?]
1 Female Rogue - same as female warrior conditions
1 Female Mage - same as female warrior [maybe make it a dalish elf from the tribe you encounter]
1 Male Mage - since it's silly to have all joinable mages be female

If these characters would cost $5 each, I'd definitely buy the females (way too few females that can join the group compared to guys), and maybe the guy if he is funny enough.  I suppose you could make one of the females a romance option along with the male mage to add some more options.

Examples of Bad DLC

- Items:  why buy them when a mod can just put them in for free.  If it ties in to a great piece of Dragon Age lore then fine, but making them the main attraction is dumb
- 30 minute areas:  these are pointless to me.  I don't really care about such little content being tacked on here or there.  Make it a large story arc or forget it.

I would pay $15 for a pack of 5-6 wilderness areas like the one you explore at the beginning of the game. Throw in some side quests, secrets and challenging fights - basically make them like the areas between towns in the original Baldur's Gate, and I'd be sold.

Stuff I'm not interested in: overpowered items, Monty Hauls - anything that imbalances the game.

in addition what i want to see is, to travel deeper in the dragon age universe, there is so much to explore those things we read in the kodex entrys or the history we hear from those npc's
for example..

maybe an abandoned tewinter outpost, the black city (or dark city ?), ancient dwarven ruins and lost citys in the deep roads....orlais and the marchs i think is to big and will probably come in an expansion or the second part of DA

this is what i like to see, explore and go deeper into the dragon age universe :)

i want to inhale the DA universe, like a vacuum cleaner :o

A castle siege, with all the mechanics of a castle siege: Siege engines, hidden entrances and so on. Either defending or attacking. That would be full of win.

Housing for heroes.

Playable expanded epilogues.

Large scale battles against Darkspawn with consequences on economy.

Quests to enter the fade and do some stuff there.

Spooky villages in remote regions where mysterious stuff is happening.

Stuff Bioware would have added to the game, but which was cut for budget reasons, but which they were happy they could have put in, such as alternate ways to solve quests and whatnot.

The list of possibilities is literally endless.

a few extra orgins may be a more classes something with some unarmed ablities other wise big waste to let you unarmed combat just for some realism why not fill in with some fantasy if money was the issue why waste it makeing unarmed then sure costed wat a few pennys to add it but if they didnt give that option i wouldnt be bringing it up they could have saved a bit from that and added to something else

I'm up for pretty much anything except for phat loot.

In order of must have it:

1) New campaign

2) Addon to original story that takes the events to unfold to new places.

3) Addon to original story that adds to endgame

4) Addon to original story that adds a bit to it, ala Ostagar

5) Sidequests

...

X) Armour/Sword/Ring of uberness.

I'm not particularly interested in DLC, not because I believe it's a ripoff or some other "tin-foil hat" idea, but because I'm anachronistic and want a physical copy. Oblivion's Knights of the Nine DLC pack is a good example: I had no intention of DL'ing the content, but bundling it all up and putting it on a disc was all the incentive I needed; if BioWare intends on making a similar bundle, then I'll prolly buy it just as long as it's not a bunch of "uber-1337 phat lewt"

What I'd REALLY like is an expansion pack along the lines of Shadows of Undrentide, maybe call it "Road to Kal-Sharok"; after the PC finishes off Orzammar's main story, the new king tasks them with re-establishing contact with Kal-Sharok. Hilarity ensues.

That'd be an awesome expansion pack.

The male mage and the female warrior, yes I would love that.  The other two...meh rogue can be either gender and we already got two female mages no need for a third.  That's what I feel anyway.

I'd like gameplay beyond the current end; let me take those companions who are still interested in travelling and continue adventures with them. Even without an open world or full expansion, it's reasonable for there to be other things going on to keep my character's adventures from having to end. My primary "complaint" with a DLC like Warden's Keep is there's little good RP reason to detour from the main quest to explore the content (Blight looming, wait, let's go reclaim a fortress for sentimental reasons?). I'd like to have an option to leave the final area of the original campaign and explore DLC content that is unrelated to, or deals with the aftermath of, the Blight.
