I thought DA:O was great but needed some editing. I'd feel safer recommending it.

I thought DA2 was enjoyable but seriously flawed. I'd recommend it, but would allow the friend to borrow it to try it out first.

My only fear over introducing anyone to this series is that if s/he did become a fan s/he would join the BSN and become another obsessive nerd-raging snark machine.

It's interesting that I found DA2 incredibly similar to Mass Effect.

If you liked that one, and haven't gotten started with more old-school RPGs, you could easily give DA2 a go.

No, I would not recommend DA2. It's a mediocre game at best.

No. I have actively steered my friends who are new to rpgs away from DA2 and introduced them to Bioware's older rpgs.

I would not recommend DA2 at full price but at half price its definately a good deal. The game has issues, but I still had a great time playing through.

DA:O is a much better game in my opinion but DA 2 isn't so bad.

The characters and dialog is still interesting and the story is still relatively solid and not awful/terrible but its no where near as good as DA:O. Also the combat is much more balanced, fluid and as I said with the story it could be much worse (its much better and immersive than Skyrim's is one comparison.)

Its definitely worth getting if your interested in the DA series.

I recommended this game to friends before release, after that, I advised people to stay away, it was a waste of time and money.
