And here I was all ready to reassure everyone that ME3 is going to be a more dialogue heavy, interactive and varied relationship vise, but it turn out this thread is about sex. People should probably start saying that word when they mean it. To me the word "romance" means something completely different. Liara's shadow broker romance was probably the best in the game, and I'm not even a fan of hers.

Anyway, regarding sex, we don't know. But the current trend is; Create as sexualized and as titillating characters as possible (whether it makes sense for them to be that way or not) and skip out on all of the actual sex. Violence is still okay, though.

ME1 was the opposite, neither Ashley nor Liara had huge boobs, ass, high heels, cleavage down to their navel, or clothing so tight that you can actually see their navel, but they had (mature) uncensored sex scenes. Nowadays, characters wear less and less actually clothing, more and more of fetish gear, probably compensating for the lack of sex scenes. I'm sure that tells us something about our society, but I am not sure what that something is. It's probably bad though.

Still, sex scenes, or indeed, romance plots, are such a minor part of the game that I really don't care how they do it. They help you define you character a bit more, but that's really it.

That said, I preferred the black eyes/head bump and fade out to awkward middle ground of dry humping Miranda, Jacob and Jack.

^ yeah, that sex issue seems to be a top topic all day.

Think the sex should be part in the romance - but not the most important part. I hope we're going to see more romantic stuff as well - more dialogues, more quiet scenes while both lovers gaze at each other, dinner, dates ... you know it. If there's enough time ... ^^

Uhh, I know. I read some of the stuff for my fave character, and from what I read so far, it's going to be beautiful.
Lets hope I can summon Ash into Shepard's cabin as often as desired (like the post-SM snuggle event).

As much as I hate to say it but they are afraid of FNC's ablity to scare viewers from not playing the game.

FNC is the most watched "news" (I don't consider them news) channel in the US and there has been a growing conserative backlash agaisnt so-called liberal movies and other entertainment media. There were bogus stories FNC that Disney's The Muppets was brainwashing kids by having the villain be an evil oil man and they called the film "anti-captism" and even though just about everyone who I know that has saw The Muppets thought it was the best of Muppet movie in well over a decade (and BTW it's a great movie), I don't think it did very well at the box office because conserative parents didn't want to take their kids to see these films because of the fear that their kids would be brainwashed into a liberal by Kermit the Frog.

If they can figure out a way to that to turn that fear and stupidity against video games. We may never see any kind of nudity or any kind of sexual content in video games for years.

^ afaik Fox News has only five million viewers.

Uhh ... how many people live in USA? >280 millions or so? I'd say: don't care for Hillbillies and let the majority decide.
Which live either at the educated East Coast OR at the more liberal (and also educated) West Coast.

Just my thoughts as European ^^ (with an Ex-gf from USA).

God forbid they show a butt in a video game! That's full on digital nudity! It will spoil our childrens minds and make them worship the devil! God I hate the squeamishness of the media in my country. :pinched:

...in comparison to the other news channels like CNN and NBC so its spread out. And then you have Americans like myself who refuse to watch the news. And I can atest that, as someone who has never ventured beyond the borders of New York, a lot of people watch Fox news here.

The folks at Fox News - they aren't hillbillies - nor are most of the people who watch them. A Hillbilly probably doesn't watch the news at all and rely soley on what the people in their communities tell them like their pastor.

And I should probably mention that Texas is the second most populous state. You know Texas? The state with the hghest death penalty and incarceration rate?

Lets put it this way, MACharlie1 ... there's a survey somewhere in the internet which proves watchers of Fox News are -LESS- informed than someone who doesn't watch news at all. In short: Fox News lie. They're spreading desinformation and rumors ... "bad news are good news, and if we can't get bad news, make up some". That's how today news work, but it's a true art in case of Fox News.

Just my idea. And before stuff gets political ... one last line and I'll vanish: people would live far more peacefully when not giving sh*t on stuff Fox News and religious fundamentalists say. Especially the second part of my statement applies on every single human in this world ;)

ME1 love scenes were nothing compared to DA:O. I'd prefer something more along the lines of that game. They were tasteful and meaningful, plus the music was perfect.

Your Totally right i feel as if they were completely meaningless in ME 2

Thats the beauty of M Rated Games.  M rated Games (since the incident a kid shot himself in the face with a shotgun because his parent took away COD) have been strictly enforced to sell to adults. The rating system provides information on the game content so that the consumer can have a generalised idea of the type of cotent the game provides. If a parent buys their child a game thats M rated (even if out of ignorance of the rating system) then turns around a blame the store/game company, it find its the parent' fault. They are told about the content at the desk when a child is requesting a game (mostly). when i worked at a gamestop, ive turned down kids trying to buy even Halo (which i beleive doesnt deserve a M rating, but glad it does) So Kids cant super easily get access to these games. Also i think people dont care anymore, look at GTA, no one cares, its not a big topic. Personaily, ive never seen sex/violence in a game, than most sex/violnce that ive seen on tv/movies. Which also happens to be more readily available. Whether a good or bad thing, sex is in. Men loves the boobies and the girls kissing, Gays (Males especially) are frowned upon and disgusted by the general public/religous goons. For right now, we have to accept it. Though, i feel sex won't be an issue in games soon. It will pass.

One thing that bugs me the most though, is Game companies (not really Bioware, i think) that make M rated games, but seem to still advertise to under 17 gamers. I imagine in mkst cases its ot intentional. There is nothing mkre frustrating when playing Halo for example, and you beat a 12 year old in the face with your foot in his teeth and his parents come on asking for you to stop. Then you have to explaine to the parent that they had purchased M rated game for their child, and online interactions on the internetz is not rated. PPPPPP---FFFFFF=TTTAH

but in regards to sex in ME, It may not be neccessary, but i do beleive in ME3 (esoecially carried over romances) there needs to be more scenes or dialogues than the "before the last battle bit" It also needs to be reflected in the banter, and rrandom dialogue. Dragon Age II did fairly well with the banter. Yet a LI Merril said the same thing as a Non LI Merril in most situatios.

It doesn't have to be full on nudity to be great but I am hoping bioware actually tries this time. I mean the emotions and feelings combined with the music just went together so well when my Male Shepard was holding Ashley in his arms. I want something like that to happen again.

Well acorrding to ESRB two of the reasons for Mass Effect 3 getting a M rated is for sexual content and partial nudity.

I thought ME2's romances were pretty damn good for the most part.
Don't get me wrong, I love seeing the female form (notice I didn't say body), but sex doesn't have to be depicted to make something romantic.
IMO, Jack's romance scene was the epitome of what it should be.
That being said, I think they've all been good to an extent. I hope ME3 doesn't go full-on sex like some people might want, but so far, they've been pretty good. As long as they fit the characters, I'm probably gonna be all good with that.

:sigh: im not demanding for full on nudity( not saying me1 was) but i do agree sex in clothes is a bit unrealistic..

bioware could go the extra mile and maybe have the women show off there bra and panties wile the men basicly are shirtless and in there boxers briefs or w/e it is they wear in the mass effect universe
