If the game loaded and played well before, you've been lucky as your system does not meet the specifications required for the game.

No ideas if the audiobook could affect the install of DA:O, but the mod can. If you haven't tried removing it and re-attempting to play you should have. If you have, why didn't you mention it? Does the game then work? If not, do you get the same error message or a new one?

That's correct. The Pentium P4 series aren't adequate for much of anything. They were replaced by the Core2D series six years ago, and had been vastly outclassed by the AMD K7 and K8 processors the entire time since they had been new. The fastest P4 isn't equal to the performance of a 1.6 GHz C2D.

Windows XP Minimum Specifications
OS: Windows XP with SP3
CPU: Intel Core 2 Single (or equivalent) running at 1.6Ghz or greater
AMD 64 (or equivalent) running at 2.0Ghz or greater
RAM: 1 GB or more
DVD ROM (Physical copy)
20 GB HD space
Video: ATI Radeon X850 256MB or greater (this is clearly wrong)
NVIDIA GeForce "6600 GT" 128MB or greater (and this one is more wrong)

(Note: IMO, the practical choices for the two video cards above should be the Radeon X800 Pro, and the Geforce 6800 GS, at least, for small textures - it will take a Radeon X1650 XT (or X1800 GTO, same thing, almost) for medium or better textures)

My problem is a different result for the same problem - game won't load anymore. I have not played the game in a year, decided to re-play it.

Slid in the disc, initial menu comes up - I select "Play Game" and I get a "doing" warning tone and it tells me the game cannot located the disc. I take out the disc, re-insert, same result.

Can you folks advise?

Thanks!
