For example If I wanted to mod aveline's rune slot upgrades to 4 empty rune slots instead of the 1 empty rune slot and 3 other +X buffs, how would one go about doing that if possible?

I haven't tried it, but offhand it should be possible by editing the lines in the item_properties.gda that define the individual companion buffs. Just copy everything from column C in the rune slot one and then paste it over the other four.

Wouldn't work on any buff you'd already attained, of course.
